Mr. Baker informed the Board that there will be an APRN Consensus meeting in April in Chicago. The Board has the ability to send one board member.

Mr. Baker explained that he attended the Tri-Regulator Collaborative meeting on Wednesday. He explained that this meeting was a first and how he felt it was effective. He also informed the Board that there will be a Tri-regulators symposium in October.

Mr. Baker informed the Board that a new Nurse Consultant, Scarlet Curtis had been hired, and that they would meet her at the April Meeting.

Mr. Baker also informed the Board that Ms. Sarah Starling was promoted from Regulatory Supervisor to the Program Administrator of the C.N.A. Support Unit. He also told them about Brian Carroll's promotion from Regulatory Specialist III to Regulatory Supervisor over the C.N.A Processing Team.

Mr. Baker explained that Dr. Newman will be attending budget liaison training in Tallahassee in March.

Mr. Baker explained that he, Ms. Kirkpatrick and Dr. Horton would be attending the National Council of State Boards of Nursing mid-year meeting in Kansas City, Missouri.

Mr. Baker discussed he is in communication with the Governor’s office regarding Board member appointments.

Mr. Baker reminded the Board that the May 2nd retreat would be in Celebration, Florida. Ms. Kirkpatrick requested that the Continuing Education Rule be discussed at this meeting. Mr. Baker asked that any other issues that Board members would like to be discussed be brought to his attention.

Mr. Baker explained that there would be an APRN bill workshop held on Monday, February 10, 2014 and that the text for the potential bill was now available.

Discussion ensued about shortening the meetings from 3 days to 2 days. A motion was made by Kirkpatrick to pilot a 2 day meeting (Thursday and Friday) with a Wednesday night arrival for the April & June meetings. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously. Discussion was had to have the Committee meetings on Thursday morning at 8:30, Full Board on Thursday at 1:30 pm and on Friday at 8:30am.

Mr. Baker discussed the earlier agenda deadline and e-addendums. He also thanked the staff for being able to so quickly implement the board’s request to receive agenda materials a week sooner.

Ms. Kirkpatrick asked if the meeting in May could be moved to a later date. Mr. Baker said that he would look into it. The new date suggested was May 16, 2014.
