SECTION 01 23 00
ALTERNATES
PART 1 GENERAL
1.01 SUMMARY
A. This Section lists and describes, in general terms, the changes to be made under
each Alternate. Refer to drawings for additional information.
B. Coordinate pertinent related Work and modify surrounding Work as required to
complete the project under each alternate.
C. Base Bid work includes disconnection and removal of existing Fluorescent and HID
light fixtures. Some architectural ceilings require revisions. The existing canopy on the
East Rotunda is to be removed. The existing artwork hanging in the East Rotunda
is required to be taken down and reinstalled after painting is completed.
New LED fixtures and LED Retrofit Kits shall be provided utilizing existing conduits
and wiring. Some new conduit and wiring is required. The existing Lutron Dimming
System for the Ballrooms shall be upgraded.
1.02 DESCRIPTION OF ALTERNATES
A. Alternate Bid No. 1:
1. Each Bidder shall state the amount to be added to the Base Bid for all work
associated with retrofitting the existing type “M” fixtures. Reference Sheets ED101,
ED102, EL101, EL02, and the Fixture Schedule on Sheet E601.
B. Alternate Bid No. 2:
1. Each Bidder shall state the amount to be added to the Base Bid for all work
associated with retrofitting the existing fixtures within the West Rotunda.
Reference Sheets ED104, EL104, and the Fixture Schedule on Sheet E601.
C. Alternate Bid No. 3:
1. Each Bidder shall state the amount to be added to the Base Bid for all work
associated with disconnecting and removing the existing switches controlling
lighting in Ballrooms B1, B2, B3 and Hall C and associated wiring, salvaging the
circuit(s) and back box(es) for re-use, extending the new Lutron Dimming
System into these areas, and providing new low voltage switches as required.
Reference Sheets ED101, ED102, EL101, EL102, and the Fixture Schedule
on Sheet E601.
