The Roman philosopher Cicero wrote, "Nobody can give you wiser advice

than yourself." However, parents, friends, and teachers often offer

advice. For example, when I wanted to try out for a sports team, and I

wasn’t sure if I should, my mom stated, You’re really good at basketball,

you should try out.” Then my dad exclaimed, You love the game, try out!

Luckily, I listened to my parents, tried out for the team, and made it! It is

important to listen to the advice of others because it could be helpful, it

could fix a potential problem, and it could even change a person’s life.

Saunders Middle School was built in 1981 at the old Ferlazzo building on

Donald Curtis Drive in Woodbridge,VA, then moved to it’s current

location in 1988. With this being said, the school is officially 36 year’s old!

Since the school is so old, there are many changes that need to be done.

Currently SMS is under renovation’s, which means it is getting updated.

One change I would like to make to the appearance of Saunders’ would be

the wall’s colors’ because it would brighten the school up, make it more

welcoming, and not look so old!

BASED OFF PROMPT # 28: If you could make a significant change to the structure or appearance of your school, what would it be? Identify the change you would make, and explain why you would make it.

want to accomplish in their future such as learning to play an

instrument graduate at the top of their class or even visit the

ocean. In the future it would be a dream come true if I could win

the lottery, because I could pay for college buy a house and pay

all of my parent’s bills!

BASED OFF PROMPT # 34: Many teachers assign group projects. Sometimes, however, an uncooperative member can affect the entire group. Argue for or against the use of group projects using specific details and examples.

Last year, in Creative Writing, the teacher wanted the students to create

a tombstone of words him/her should no longers use. These words were

called dead words. Each student was assigned a word it had to “kill” and

allow the word to be survived by a new word. Luckily, this was not a group

project and us could work on them individually. Teachers should not

assign group projects because students are uncooperative, typically only

one kid does the work, and it’s easier to complete assignments by herself.
