DATES TO REMEMBER
Principal’s Message
FAREWELL TO CATHIE FERGUSON
Cathie thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated all of the kind words and gifts from our community,
and was blown away by the students’ song and gifts during the celebration assembly. I would
like to thank everyone for your positivity and generosity. We will all miss Cathie….and I know she
will miss us too.
SCHOOL BUS IN DANGER OF BEING CANCELLED!
We have been informed that there will be an audit on the number of children using the school
bus service. Apparently, only a small percentage of students are using their Opal cards and many
are not tapping off. Therefore, it appears that there are not enough students using the buses to
sustain the service and it is in danger of being taken away.

Can all parents please ensure that their children have an Opal card and are aware that they
need to tap on and off when they are using the bus service. The two school routes took
some time to arrange, and it would cause many problems for those who need the service if
they were cancelled due to the fact that the bus company does not have the data to keep
the buses going. The staff will be speaking to children and those teachers who are on bus
duty will remind children to use their cards, but ultimately this is a service to parents and
we need the responsibility for this service to be sustained, to lie with our community.
All students in K-2 get free School Opal cards. Those in 3-6 can apply for a School Opal
card, and if they don’t qualify they need to purchase a card and regularly top them up.
Please contact Forest Coach Lines with any queries.
GROWTH MINDSET – BUILDING CONFIDENCE
As part of Growth Mindset we are continually working with students to develop their
understanding of the way their mindset can affect their learning and lives. The link below
leads to a TEDEd video which you can share with your children. This clip talks about ways
to build confidence. It is a great conversation starter.

SPEECHMAKERS FINAL
We are very proud of our 3 finalists in the Warringah Community of Schools Speechmakers
Competition. Lara, Angus and Alex all represented the school admirably with Lara coming
runner up. Congratulations to these wonderful public speakers.
Quote of the week
Thank you for your support.
Louisa Wellings (Relieving Principal)
From the Office
Term 4 accounts were emailed last week and prompt payment is greatly appreciated. Thank
you to the families who have settled their final accounts for this year.
Please ensure when returning notes and payments that you have included your child’s
name and class.
The school photos have arrived and will be distributed later this week.
Milo Cup
On 23 October, 11 Year 5 and 6 girls, travelled to the regional Milo Cup. The girls played 4
games and finished 4th in the competition, winning 2 and losing 2. Mona Vale Public School
won by 4 runs, after we dropped 5 catches (which is 5 runs to your total per catch). The same
transpired against Queenwood, who beat us by 5 (again we dropped 4 catches). It was
disappointing for the girls, but despite this, it was a fun day had by all and concludes our Milo
Cup campaign this year. 146 students were introduced to cricket from years 3-6 as part of the
Milo Cup initiative.
Well done to Shore who won the boys competition and Pymble Ladies College who won the
girls competition. We wish them all the best in the State finals.
