Major overhaul of the way the Army transitions Soldiers

from military to civilian life.

• ACAP is congressionally mandated and Army policy

• ACAP is the Army’s Transition Assistance Program that concentrates on

training and preparing the Soldiers for a successful transition

• ACAP partners with many organizations as an umbrella to provide

opportunities: DOL VETS, VA, VRE, SBA, ACES, and others

• ACAP is a program that enables Soldiers to capitalize on their Army

experience and skills by developing an Individual Transition Plan and

translating military skills to a civilian ready resume

• ACAP is a Commanders’ Program that encourages Soldiers to begin

transition counseling and employment assistance no later than 12

months prior to transition

• Contributes to Army recruiting. It is a lasting image of the Army the

Soldiers take with them.

What is ACAP?

Congress set basic eligibility standards for all military personnel to ensure they would

have sufficient time to take advantage of available services.

Active Component and Spouses

• Retiring Soldiers and Spouses

• Up to two years before retirement

• Army policy allows ACAP services for life after retirement

• Non-retiring Soldiers and Spouses

• Must start NOT LATER THAN one year before transition

• Army policy allows ACAP services for up to 180 days after transition

Demobilizing Reserve Component Soldiers and Spouses

• Must have 180 days continuous active duty

• Army policy allows for ACAP services for up to 180 days after transition

DA Civilians and Spouses

• Displaced by RIF, BRAC or other action

• Approved retirement

• Up to 180 days after retirement or departure from federal service

sales and operations positions with Fortune 1000 and growth sector companies

at no cost to military job seekers. Former military personnel comprise more than

half of Bradley-Morris's workforce.

Corporate Gray Online Military-specific employment website that links

employers with transitioning and former military worldwide.

Corporate Leads Provides nationwide business sector placement to Junior

Officers, Senior Non-Commissioned Officers with college degrees, and

ACAP Fort Knox sponsors weekly NO COST Employer Days on Thursdays from 10am to 2pm for those wishing to directly engage with prospective employees.

We provide an “Employer’s Area” adjacent to the classrooms with the ability to make a self-introduction to the classes in session.

We also provide space for you to conduct interviews.

WiFi and Electrical connections

With sufficient lead time, we will provide advertising of the employer day visit in the installation weekly newspaper “The Gold Standard”, on Bulletin Boards, and Facebook.

BRICK AND MORTAR

Fort Knox ACAP (in partnership with Family Employment Services, KY VETS, and the Civilian Personnel Action Center (CPAC) sponsor a biennial Career Fair every October on the installation offering direct access to transitioning service members, families, veterans, and the local community.

KDES also sponsors a biennial local job fair for the community normally in March or April.

VIRTUAL:

The ability for our clients to attend Virtual Fairs using our computers and with a dedicated staff member on site to assist.

ACAP Virtual Career Fairs are similar to traditional job fairs; employers set up and staff booths and job seekers have the opportunity to visit your company booth, view open positions, apply for jobs, submit resumes, and secure interviews.

Fort Knox ACAP has the capability to utilize any of the four following assets at this

time to support connecting employers with prospective employees.

All 50 computers in classroom are WiFi and on a commercial network

4 of the computers can act as interviewing modules with privacy for one-on-one

interviews.

You can send us an advertising flyer, your own developed word document or PDF job announcement, or fill in the enclosed Hot Leads form and we will place it on our job announcement boards inside the ACAP Center

We will also share the job announcement with the Family Employment Services program, the Kentucky VETS Employment Services office, and with the Veteran Affairs employment office

Fort Knox ACAP is co-located with several partnership agencies and works

closely with them to assist transitioning Soldiers:

KY VETS: ACAP can place you in contact with the Local Veterans

Employment Representative for inclusion in their job database. While the

ACAP does not actively do placement of Soldiers into open vacancies; KY

VETS has placement as one of their stated goals.

VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION & EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM: ACAP

Fort Knox is also co-located with the Veteran Affairs VRE Program which

assists veterans with service-connected disabilities to prepare for, find, and

keep suitable jobs.
