AsHe, The Most High, said:

mhgfedcl:{And I (Allh) created not the jinn and mankind except that they should worship Me

So whenyou acknowledgethat Allahcreated youto worship Him,

Then knowthat worshipis not (considered)calledworshipexceptwithTawheed

ahaaraht-ta`maaillalaatanslaa tusammaaalaatas-snaanKamaaJust as prayeris not (considered) calledprayerexceptwithpurification

Fa'idhaadakhalash-shirkufil-ìbaadatifasadat

So when shirkentersinto worshipit corrupts it (lit. It is spoiled)

kal-hadathiidhaadakhalafit-taharahJust like impuritywhenentered intopurity(i.e. It invalidates it)

Part 4: Shirk When Mixed With Worship Corrupts It

fsadahaaabaadatai`lathaalaithaa khirkas-nnasharaftaaìthaa-Fa

So whenyou realize that shirkwhen it is mixedwith worship, it (the shirk) ruins it (i.e. The

worship,

malaàltbahaWanegates allthe actions

.aarn-infhaalideenak-inalmbuhuihaasaarasWa

And the one who does it (i.e. the shirk) is forever in the Fire,

Àraftaanna ahammamaa àlaykThen you will realize that the most important matter (obligatory)upon you:

,billaahhirkus-hwa hiyas,habakahsaadhihishhminakasukhalliy-ayllallaahaa`-lahaalikdrifatu`MaKnowledge and awareness of this fact,so that Allah may save youfrom this evil trap

and it is committing shirkwith Allah,:

Allatheeqaalall-laahuTaàalaafeehWhichAllah,The Most High, saidconcerning it:

m`_~}|{zyxwvutl :{Verily, Allh forgives not (the sin of) setting up partners (in worship) with Him, but He

forgives whom He wills, sins other than that} An Nisaa (4):116

.Wa dhaalika bima`rifatiArbaìQawaaìdaDhakarahallaahu TaàalaaFee Kitaabih

And that (will be achieved) by the knowledge and awareness offourprincipleswhich Allah

the Most High, mentioned in His book.

Al-Qaa'idatul-OolaaThe firstprinciple

An Ta`lamaannal-kuffaaral-latheenaQaatalahumRasoolullaahisallallaahu àlayhi wasalamThat you knowthe Kuffar,whothe Messengerof Allaah sallallaahu alayhi wasalam

fought,

Muqirroonabi annallaahaTaàalaaHuwal-Khaaliqul-Mudabbir

Used to affirm that Allah,The Most High,was the Creator and the Disposer of all theaffairs

Wa anna dhaalikalamyudkhilhumfil-Islaam

But that didntenter themintoIslam

:Wad-DaleeluQawluhuTaàalaaAnd the proofis His saying the Most High:m

l:{Say (O Muhammad [sal-Allhu 'alayhi wa sallam]): "Who provides for you from the skyand the earth? Or who owns hearing and sight? And who brings out the living from thedead and brings out the dead from the living? And who disposes the affairs?" They will

say: "Allh." Say: "Will you not then be afraid of Allh's punishment (for setting up rivalsin worship with Allh)?"} Yunus (10):31

6.1SOME REASONS OF THE MUSHRIKEEN FORCOMMITTING SHIRK

:Annahumyaqooloon

That they(the Mushrikeen)say:

Maa daàwnaahumwa tawaj-jahnaailayhimWe do not call uponand turn towardsthem

ah`shafaa-washqurbati-labiltaliIllaa

exceptto seeknearnessand intercession (i.e.-with Allah).

:Fadaleelul-qurbati;qawluhuTaàalaa:

So the proofagainstseeking this nearness (through others, like Awliyyah)is the saying oftheMost High:

{And those who take Auliy' (protectors, helpers, lords, gods) besides Him (say): "Weworship them only that they may bring us near to Allh." Verily, Allh will judge betweenthem concerning that wherein they differ. Truly, Allh guides not him who is a liar, and a

disbeliever. } Az-Zumar (39):3

And the proof(against) of intercession (through Awliyyah)is the saying ofthe Most High:

{And they worship besides Allh things that harm them not, nor profit them, and theysay: "These are our intercessors with Allh."} Yunus (10):18

6.2THE FORBIDDEN SHAFAAAH

:Wash-shafaaàtushafaaàtaan

And intercessionis of two types:.

Shafaaàtunmanfeeyyah, washafaaàtunmuthbatahThe prohibitedintercession andthe affirmedintercession:

:Fash-shafaaàtulmanfeeyyah

The prohibitedintercession

llaahhayriginmlabutukaanat tMaa

Is that which is sought fromother thanAllah

Feemaalaa yaqdiru àlayhiillallaah

Concerning that which none is able to do,except Allaah.:

Wad-daleeluqawluhuTaàalaa

And the proofis the sayingof the Most High:

{O you who believe! Spend of that which We have provided for you, before a Daycomes when there will be no bargaining, nor friendship, nor intercession. And it is the

disbelievers who are the Zlimn (wrong doers).} Al Baqarah (2): 254

6.3THEAFFIRMED SHAFAAAH

: ,Allaahminlabuttulatee-iyalh:uthbatahmatul`hafaas-Wash

And the affirmedintercession: it is that whichis soughtfromAllah,

Wash-shaafiùmukarramunbish-shafaaàh

and the intercessoris honoredwith the intercession

idhn'dal`bamalahua`waawlahuqllaahuyadhiramanu lahuàshfoom-Waland the one interceded for,is one whomAllahis pleased withhis speech and actions,

after He gives permission,:

KamaaqaalaTaàalaa:asHe, The Most High,said:

The thirdprinciple

Annan-nabiyyasallallaahu àlayhi wasallam

That the Prophetsallallaahu alayhi wasallam ibaadaatihim`feemutafarriqeenaunaasin'alaa`harahaT

Encounteredpeopledifferingin their forms of worship.

Minhummay-ya`budul malaa'ikah

Among them werepeople whoworshipped the angels,

eenhaalis-swaa'l anbiyaabuduày-mayinhumWa m

and amongst them is he who worshippedthe prophets and the righteous men

amarq-walhamsas-shbuduày-wa minhum may,jaarha-walshjaaraabudulày-ayminhum mWa

And amongst them is he who worshippedthe trees, the stones,and others whoworshipped the sun and the moon

Wa qaatalahumRasoolullaahisallallaahu àlayhi wasallam

The messenger of Allahsallallaahu àlayhi wasallamfought them

Wa lamyufarriqbaynahum

And did notdifferentiatebetween them

:Wad-daleeluqawluhuta`aalaa

And the proofis the sayingof the Most High:

ml :{And fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief and polytheism, i.e. worshippingothers besides Allh), and the religion (worship) will all be for Allh Alone [in the whole

of the world].} Al Anfaal (8):39

7.1PROOF OFTHE SUNAND MOON BEINGWORSHIPPED

Wa daleelush-shamsiwal-qamar

And the proof ofthe sunand the moon (being worshipped):

QawluhuTa'aalaaIs the saying ofthe Most High:

l:{And from among His Signs are the night and the day, and the sun and the moon.

Prostrate yourselves not to the sun nor to the moon, but prostrate yourselves to AllhWho created them, if you (really) worship Him.} Fussilat (41):37

And the proof ofthe angels (being worshipped)is the saying ofthe Most High:

7.3PROOF OFTHE PROPHETS BEINGWORSHIPPED

:Wa daleelulanbiyaa'i,qawluhuTa`aalaa:

And the proof ofthe prophets(being worshipped)is the saying ofthe Most High:

of Maryam (Mary)! Did you say to men: 'Worship me and my mother as two gods besides

Allh?' " He will say: "Glorified are You! It was not for me to say what I had no right (to

say). Had I said such a thing, You would surely have known it. You know what is in my

inner self though I do not know what is in Yours; truly, You, only You, are the All-

Knower of all that is hidden (and unseen)} Al Maidah (5):116

7.4PROOF OFTHE RIGHTEOUS MEN BEINGWORSHIPPED

And the proof ofthe righteous (being worshipped)is the saying ofthe Most High:

which of them should be the nearest; and they [Eesa (Jesus), 'Uzair (Ezra), angels andothers] hope for His Mercy and fear His torment} Al Israa (17):57

7.5PROOF OFTHETREESAND STONES BEINGWORSHIPPED

: aalaa`Taawluhuq,jaarha-alwshjaaria-laleeludWaAnd the proof ofthe trees and the stones (being worshipped)is the saying ofthe Most High:

m~}l:{Have you then considered Al-Lt, and Al-'Uzz (two idols of the pagan Arabs). And

Mant (another idol of the pagan Arabs), the other third?} An Najm (53):19-20

And the Hadith ofAbu Waaqid Al Laythee- radhiyallaahu anhu:

Qaala:kharajnaamaàn-nabiyyisallallaahu àlayhi wasallamWho said: We departedwiththe Prophetsallallaahu àlayhi wasallam

hdin bikufrinaù'udathaahnuhanawunayninhIlaa

To Hunaynand we had recently left kufr (disbelief).

Wa lilmushrikeenasidrahThe Mushrikeen (polytheists)used to have a tree

They used to devote themselves toand hang theirweapons upon,

tdhaatu anwaaYuqaalu lahaaThey called itDhaat Anwaat

:Fa mararnaabisidratinfaqulnaa

So we passed by a treeand we said:

.. hadeeth-Al.tdhaatu anwaakamaa lahumintdhaata anwaaal lanaa`-jYaa RasoolAllaahiO Messenger Of Allaah!Appoint for usa Dhaat Anwaatlike they havea Dhaat Anwaat.

This is becausethose who came beforecommitted their shirkduring times of ease

hiddahs-fishoonasWa yukhli

And(made their worship)purely for Allahduring times of hardship.

Wa mushrikoozamaaninaashirkuhumdaa'imun(However)the shirk ofthe Mushrikeenof our time is continuous,

Fir-rakhaa'iwash-shiddah

During(times of) ease and hardship:

Wad-daleeluqawluhuTaàalaa:The proof isthe saying ofthe Most High:

only, but when He brings them safely to land, behold, they give a share of their worshipto others.} Al Ankaboot (29):65
