OPENING PRAYER

O God, whom saints and angels delight to worship in heaven: Be ever present with your servants who seek

through art and music to perfect the praises offered by your people on earth; and grant to them even now

glimpses of your beauty, and make them worthy at length to behold it unveiled for evermore; through Jesus

Christ our Lord. Amen.

Officiant Let us pray.

COLLECT OF THE DAY

Almighty God, you have built your Church upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ

himself being the chief cornerstone: Grant us so to be joined together in unity of spirit by their teaching, that we

may be made a holy temple acceptable to you; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and

the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

HYMN 178 Jesus is Lord of all the earth

Officiant The Lord be with you.

People And also with you.

Officiant Let us pray.

God of all power and love, we give thanks for your unfailing presence and the hope you provide in times of

uncertainty and loss. Send your Holy Spirit to enkindle in us your holy fire. Revive us to live as Christ’s body

in the world; a people who pray, worship, learn, break bread, share life, heal neighbors, bear good news, seek

justice, rest and grow in the Spirit. Wherever and however we gather, unite us in common prayer and send us in

common mission, that we and the whole creation might be restored and renewed, hrough Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

HYMN 544 Jesus shall reign where’er the sun

People And also with you.

Officiant Let us pray.

O God, you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth, and sent your blessed Son to preach peace to

those who are far off and to those who are near: Grant that people everywhere may seek after you and find you,

bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit upon all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom;

through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Amen.

Almighty God, kindle, we pray, in every heart the true love of peace, and guide with your wisdom those who

take counsel for the nations of the earth, that in tranquility your dominion may increase until the earth is filled

with the knowledge of your love; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of

the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

HYMN LEVAS 177 Standin’ in the Need of Prayer

Officiant The Lord be with you.

People And also with you.

Officiant Let us pray.

Almighty God, who created us in your own image: Grant us grace fearlessly to contend against evil and to make

no peace with oppression; and, that we may reverently use our freedom, help us to employ it in the maintenance

of justice in our communities and among the nations, to the glory of your holy Name; through Jesus Christ our

Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

HYMN 657 Love divine, all loves excelling

A READING FROM MATTHEW 10:40-42

Jesus said, “Whoever welcomes you welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me.

Whoever welcomes a prophet in the name of a prophet will receive a prophet's reward; and whoever welcomes

a righteous person in the name of a righteous person will receive the reward of the righteous; and whoever gives

even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones in the name of a disciple-- truly I tell you, none of these will

lose their reward.”

REFLECTION Rev. Peter Swarr

HYMN 335 (VS. 1, 2, 4, 5)

Officiant The Lord be with you.

People And also with you.

Officiant Let us pray.

O God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, our only Savior, the Prince of Peace: Give us grace seriously to lay

to heart the great dangers we are in by our unhappy divisions; take away all hatred and prejudice, and whatever

else may hinder us from godly union and concord; that, as there is but one Body and one Spirit, one hope of our

calling, one Lord, one Faith, one Baptism, one God and Father of us all, so we may be all of one heart and of

one soul, united in one holy bond of truth and peace, of faith and charity, and may with one mind and one

mouth glorify thee; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

HYMN 376 Joyful, joyful, we adore thee

Officiant The Lord be with you.

People And also with you.

Officiant Let us pray.

Almighty God, we thank you for making the earth fruitful, so that it might produce what is needed for life:

Bless those who work in the fields; give us seasonable weather; and grant that we may all share the fruits of the

earth, rejoicing in your goodness; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

HYMN 618 (VS. 1, 2, 4)

Officiant The Lord be with you.

People And also with you.

Officiant Let us pray.

O God our heavenly Father, you have blessed us and given us dominion over all the earth: Increase our

reverence before the mystery of life; and give us new insight into your purposes for the human race, and new

wisdom and determination in making provision for its future in accordance with your will; through Jesus Christ

our Lord. Amen.

HYMN LEVAS 217 He’s Got the Whole World in His Hand

CLOSING PRAYER

Lord, make us instruments of your peace. Where there is hatred, let us sow love; where there is injury, pardon;

where there is discord, union; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness,

light; where there is sadness, joy. Grant that we may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be

understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we

are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.

BLESSING †

The blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit be upon you and remain with you

forever. Amen
