Fall is full of possibilities at Cloverwood Senior Living! Walking on the campus’ wooded trails, keeping up exercise routines in the fitness center and indoor pool, and sampling autumn offerings from the dining menu are just a few ways residents are soaking up the season.

And now there’s something new to do – taking in the chilly weather with friends by the fire pit! Located on Cloverwood’s Village Green, the new fire pit is a great place to gather for conversation, drinks and maybe even s’mores!

A resident of Linden Knoll since 2008, Katherine Crumley discovered a passion for photography late in life. This Tennessee native found what she calls a “photographer’s paradise” when she moved to Rochester. She has taken a wealth of photos in our area, including in and around her home at Linden Knoll. A selection of these Linden Knoll images are now on display at the Friendly Home, just outside of the executive offices in the hallway leading from the Friendly Home to Linden Knoll. Katherine’s unique eye has captured the beauty of the property in all four seasons, and her photos are sure to bring pleasure to all passers-by!

IRA CHARITABLE DISTRIBUTIONS:AN ADVANTAGEOUS WAY TO GIVE!

The Friendly Home’s 2018 Annual Appeal is underway! The generosity of our donors allows the Friendly Home to meaningfully engage and enrich our Members’ lives in so many ways, big and small. Our Annual Appeal ensures that we may continue our long tradition of serving the elderly with exceptional quality, care and compassion.

Won’t you consider a gift to the Friendly Home’s 2018 Annual Appeal campaign and make a difference in the lives of the older adults entrusted to our care? Please call our Marketing & Development office at (585) 789-3154, or visit our website at friendlyhome.org and click on “Make A Gift.” We are pleased to offer our donors this easy and secure giving option.

Thank you in advance for your support of the Friendly Home, truly a special place for seniors!

Attention friends age 70-1/2 and older! As you may already be aware, there have been some significant changes to the tax codes with regard to withdrawals from traditional retirement accounts, such as IRAs. After this age, annual withdrawals are required and taxable. The penalty for not withdrawing the required minimum distribution is 50% of the amount that should have been withdrawn.

However, if you are in the fortunate position of not needing access to your annual distribution for your living expenses and are charitably inclined, you can avoid income tax on your required withdrawal by donating your funds directly to qualified charities, such as Friendly Senior Living. Up to $100,000 can be transferred per year directly to an eligible charity without paying income tax on the transaction.

The Friendly Senior Living continuum of caring communities provides a range of housing, service and care options for older adults in our community. We are a non-denominational, non-profit organization offering independent senior living, assisted living, memory care, short-term rehabilitative care, 24-hour skilled nursing care and hospice care. The generosity of our donors ensures that Friendly Senior Living may continue its long tradition of serving the elderly with exceptional quality, care and compassion. Building and grounds improvements, special programming, and staff training and education are some of the important ways our residents benefit from the financial support of our friends in the community.

We have prepared a helpful brochure providing information about how you may qualify for a tax break by directly transferring your required IRA withdrawals to a qualified charity. We would also welcome the opportunity to talk with you about this and other giving options to Friendly Senior Living, and how your support could do so much to enhance the lives of those we serve.

Please contact Denise M. Hubler, VP of Marketing & Development, with any questions, for more information, or to request a brochure at (585) 789-3151 or [email protected].

Friendly Senior Living is grateful for your interest in supporting our mission-driven service to older adults in our community! We are a qualified 501(c)(3) charity.
