Richard Corrigan

As Deputy CEO of Jersey Finance Richard leads an international team promoting Jersey as a well-regulated, internationally co-operative fi nancial centre. He has wide-ranging experience of international markets from his earlier career in banking where he led coverage teams in the Gulf, Greater China, South East Asia and North America. Richard is a member of both the Institute of Directors and the Institute of Financial Services and a Governor of Highlands College.

Deputy CEO, Jersey Finance

For over twenty years David has been a forensic accountant expert specialising in investigating large and complex fraud and money laundering cases. He have given evidence in the Royal Court in Jersey on a number of occasions on behalf of the Attorney General of Jersey. He has also acted in Guernsey and the Isle of Man as well as in the UK. His cases have involved Bank Cantrade, Tim Nelson, Christine Bryce-Richards, Raj Bhojwani, Peter Michel, Justin Michel and recently Ian Christmas and others. David is a recognised expert forensic accountant on the UK National Crime Agency database.

James Henry

James is a qualifi ed chartered accountant, having originally graduated from Exeter University with a BSc in Geology. He spent 20 years working in the fi nancial services sector in both London and Sydney before joining MPX in 2006. As part of the senior management team, James is responsible for all fi nancial, commercial and accounting issues and was instrumental in achieving MPX’s MBO in April 2014. James has direct experience of investment by private equity funds in the upstream oil and gas sector.

John, resident in the British Virgin Islands, is a highly skilled legal, insolvency and compliance professional with over 20 years extensive experience as a banking, insolvency, corporate restructuring and fi nancial services lawyer. John was one of the founding partners of Withers BVI in April 2009 and he was a member of the Funds Investment Trust and Tax team specializing in setting up and restructuring Hedge Funds and Alternative Investment structures.

Assad Abdullatiff is Chief Executive of AXIS Fiduciary Ltd, in Mauritius. Assad started his career within a global fi duciary fi rm and counts several years of experience within the corporate and trust industry. Assad’s areas of expertise span: corporate law & governance, tax planning and structuring, fund formation & administration and trusts and estate planning. Assad was the past Chairman of the Mauritius branch of STEP representing the African and Arabian regions.

Nicole Svatek Human Factors Specialist. Chairman of the Royal Aeronautical Society Human Factors Group

Nicole is Chairman of the Royal Aeronautical Society Human Factors Group. Nicole was formerly the Head of Human Factors at Virgin Atlantic Airways and her remit included fl ight crew, cabin crew and engineering Human Factors programmes and all internal HF accident and incident investigations. She was one of the original members of the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) Human Factors Committee, and was seconded as their representative to the International Civil Aviation Organisation (the aviation branch of the UN) to become a member of the working group that authored the ICAO Human Factors Digests. She was also one of three authors of the IATA Guidelines in Flight Safety Methodologies in 1991.

Angelo is a special correspondent with the economic and fi nancial publication “Il Sole 24 Ore” and writes of judicial inquiries, tax fraud and tax havens. He is co-author of “La cassaforte degli evasori”, written with whistleblower Hervé Falciani. The book tells of the most spectacular bank data leak of recent years: when, in 2008, former HSBC employee Hervé Falciani disappeared with the information of some 130,000 customers of the bank. In recent years Angelo has dealt with some of the most important Italian fi nancial scandals and was special correspondent in China, Dubai, in the Balkan area and in the Baltic countries.

Richard is a self-confessed mortgage geek and has forged invaluable relationships with key decision makers in UK and offshore banks and Building Societies.

Anwar Nashashibi is a barrister at 7 Bedford Row. He specialises in fraud, including in the fi nance industry. He has substantial experience of offshore work having been instructed by public and private clients in Jersey, Guernsey, Bahrain and the TCI. He has extensive experience of offshore fi nance industries and the regulatory framework within which they operate.

Heather Lightbody specialises in training with a focus on private equity, valuation and M&A and is a Lecturer with the BVCA Faculty. She has both a professional and personal interest in private equity, analysing VC purchases and exits and their impact on the broader corporate fi nance market. Heather worked with Esso Petroleum for fi ve years in a range of fi nance functions. She worked for Yamaichi International for seven years in M&A, Eastern Europe coverage, debt and equity capital markets, and was appointed Executive Director in 1994.

Paul Woodman leads Deloitte’s Jersey tax practice with over fifteen years experience in international taxation. Paul has been advising on FATCA since the inception of the regime and is jurisdiction lead for Jersey for Deloitte’s global FATCA team. Paul regularly presents on FATCA to local bodies such as the Jersey branch of STEP and the Jersey Compliance Officers Association Accountants on numerous occasions. Paul sits on the committee of the Jersey Society of Chartered and Certified Accountants, the tax committee of the Jersey branch of the Institute of Directors and Jersey Finance’s Fiscal Strategy Group.Martin is Director in Tax within Deloitte’s offshore tax practice, based in the Guernsey office and serving a wide range of Financial Services clients. He has been at Deloitte for 11 years, with a background in UK taxation. Since relocating to Guernsey in 2010, Martin has worked on a variety of structures and clients, including banking, funds, trusts and real estate. Martin has responsibility for FATCA within the Guernsey office, and is a member of the Guernsey Income Tax Office Guidance Notes working party. Martin is also Chair of the Guernsey branch of the Chartered Institute of Taxation.
