“It just wouldn’t be Christmas without getting a little something to make you sparkle for the party season. join me as I pick out some of my favourite pieces of jewellery on offer at The Galleries.
Our first stop is Mr Allan jewellers. I absolutely love this silver star necklace on a 19 inch chain for £105. Simple yet chic, the man himself; Mr Allan informed me he’s seen Radio One’s Fearne Cotton wearing a similar necklace.
Next I’m heading over to Cawley jewellers to pick up their sterling silver crystal heart pendant. This beautiful little number is the perfect accessory to
wear for special occasions and at £58.95 it’s a real steal.
On we go to Christopher Hart jewellers. This time I’ve picked out a little something to make your wrists sparkle, a gorgeous Ti Sento Da Noi collection bangle for £190.
Now it’s time to find some dazzling earrings from Warren james. My heart skipped a beat when I clapped eyes on these sterling silver DiamonFlash® Cubic zirconia Stud Earrings by Amelia. For just £10 you simply can’t afford to miss out!

One cold December morning, a little girl named Holly
woke to find a crisp white invitation under her pillow
written in gold handwriting.
“Santa Claus requests the pleasure of your presence. He asks that you dress appropriately as the North Pole is very chilly and he does not want you to catch a cold. You will find my Elf waiting
outside who will escort you to The Galleries Shopping Centre to buy some new warm winter
clothes.” Holly shouted in excitement, got dressed and rushed outside to meet the Elf.
Their first stop was Niamh & Ruby’s. The Elf picked out a beautiful Victorian
red coat complete with a faux fur hat and hand muff for £45. Perfect for those
chilly winter winds. Next the Elf led Holly to kidz klozit and chose a lovely warm, black and
white knitted cardigan for £12.99 and a snazzy ruffled skirt for £9.99.
Holly was ecstatic with her new outfit but they still had one more item to get, new winter boots! The Elf took her to Clarks and picked up a pair of Iva Hop faux fur lined boots for £38. Now her
feet would stay warm in the deepest snow.
With her new warm outfit Holly was ready to meet Santa. The Elf whistled and a sleigh pulled by six reindeer flew down from the
sky and whisked Holly and the Elf off to meet Santa at the North Pole.

The Galleries Charity of the Year: Wigan & Leigh HospiceEarlier this year, you, the Wigan public voted for Wigan & Leigh Hospice to be our Charity of the Year. Here is an update from the Hospice to find out about their latest campaign and how you can support this worthy cause.
Wigan & Leigh Hospice is launching its Counting on Care appeal to create an inpatient unit for the future and make it dementia-friendly. The Hospice is launching the appeal in order to both modernise the 17-year-old inpatient unit and in response to the growing number of patients and visitors who have dementia.
It is hoped the Counting on Care appeal will raise at least £60,000 for the Hospice which has been caring for local people for more than 30 years.
Hospice Chief Executive, Dr Alan Baron, said:
Supporters can help in a number of ways; including making a donation through The Galleries Shopping Centre or attending our Santa’s Grotto, where 100% of ticket fees will go to the charity. Alternatively, you can simply make a donation through their fundraising team. You may send a cheque to the Hospice or make a donation over the phone on 01942 525566.

“While our inpatient unit staff continue to provide excellent care, the unit itself is 17 years old and is in need of modernisation.
At the same time we are seeing a steadily increasing number of patients with both dementia and another life-limiting illness but at present the inpatient unit simply is not designed to cater for those kinds of needs.
Adaptations need to be made which will help people with dementia orientate themselves to their surroundings and navigate their way around so that this is a therapeutic and restful environment for all our patients and visitors for many years to come.”

Ingredients1 whole fresh British medium turkey (approx 4.5kg)1 orange, zest and juice1 lemon, zest and juice150g butter, softened50g caster sugar
For the gravy200ml Madeira3 tbsp plain flour600ml chicken stock, made from a cube
MorriSonS GoLden GLazed turkey WitH Madeira GravyHeat the oven to 180°C/160°C fan/Gas 4. Remove the giblets from the turkey and place the zested, juiced orange and lemon in the cavity.
Mix 100g of the butter with the zests and smear under the skin of the turkey.
Make the glaze. Place the orange and lemon juices in a pan with the sugar, boil for 1 minute then allow to cool a little. Whisk in the remaining butter and set aside.
Place the turkey in a roasting tin, cover loosely with foil and roast. For the final 30 minutes, remove the foil, brush the glaze liberally all over the bird and raise the oven temperature.
Check your turkey is done and continue roasting if necessary
until cooked through and the juices run clear. When it’s done, remove from the oven and rest on a warm plate for at least 30 minutes before carving.
Meanwhile, make the gravy. Carefully tip all the fat and juices from the turkey roasting tin into a jug and spoon off any excess fat. Place the tin over a medium heat and pour in the Madeira. Bring to the boil, scraping the bits off the bottom of the tin. Continue to heat until the alcohol has reduced by half.Sprinkle over the flour and whisk for 1 minute. Stir in the stock and reserved turkey juices. Bring back to the boil and simmer for 10 minutes, whisking frequently to avoid lumps, until smooth and thickened. Season to taste then pour into a warm jug to serve.
Toast the pecan nuts in the oven for about 5 minutes.
Cut the sprouts into halves or quarters, depending on the size, then steam for about 5 minutes until just tender.
Heat the oil and butter in a large frying pan and stir fry the sprouts for about 5 minutes until they begin to brown. Add the toasted pecans and toss to combine.
Toast the bread and spread one slice with the mayonnaiseLayer the tomato and bacon, then top with another slice of toast. Add the turkey and lettuce, finish with the final slice of bread and cut into quarters.
