shoulders a huge responsibility as a business advisor to grow and adapt to the changes and be one step ahead of them to meet our clients’ rapidly changing needs to enable them to grow smoothly and safely, he emphasizes.

Abbas says some examples of the changes happening or expected to happen soon in market needs are as follow:

1. The need for many traditional services, such as accounting, will become minimal (possibly disappear) due to the availability of advancing technological solutions.

2. A shift in customers’ needs of services is apparent. For example, many clients nowadays are not driven to business process reengineering because of operational performance gaps or risks. The driver now is the strategic changes required into their business model and value proposition.

3. The significant need for strategic consultancies, who can deliver: strategic destination, strategic analysis, strategic planning, strategic execution, value proposition, business model, marketing strategy, HR strategy, investment pitches and business plans.

4. The release and dominance of the Gig economy that creates for the traditional existing organization both huge risk in terms of competitive

landscape and as an opportunity in terms of availability of cheap and talent resources.

In these circumstances, Mazars possess a number of unique strengths that make it clearly distinguished from others in term of value adding to its clients. Mazars is an enthusiastic group with a strong sense of belonging and desire for change, success and that is fully focused on maximizing the value added to their clients. That is why all the CARL (International) partners of the Mazars’ Group meet on annual basis to review their business and the changing markets to stay on top of the changing

of Mazars Oman, is known for his leadership qualities such as a strong vision, motivational, caring, innovative, persistence and excellent ethics. One of his key strengths as a leader is that he can put himself outside the pressures of both the organisation and the moment in order to see situations from a dispassionate perspective. He has an instinctive understanding not only of where Oman’s economy and his industry namely Chartered Accountancy is going but also what makes people optimistic about it.

Under his leadership, Mazars Oman has grown to be a truly integrated firm and he became the first Gulf national CARL partner.

According to Abbas Al Humaid, the global economy is changing dramatically and rapidly, shaking and changing many long-held assumptions and practices. What is happening is leading not only to a radically different

competitive landscape, but it will change comprehensively the rules of the game. Survival is not guaranteed, but the chances are improved for those businesses that recognize the scale of the change required and modify their strategies and business models to jump the growth gap, he adds

The global economy is changing dramatically and rapidly, shaking and changing many long-held assumptions and practices. What is happening is gradually leading not only to a radically different competitive landscape, but it will change comprehensively the rules of the game. Survival is not guaranteed, but the chances are improved for those businesses that recognize the scale of the change required and modify their strategies and business models to jump the growth gap

marketplace and maximize the value added to their clients.

Based on democratic partnership, Mazars gives each CARL partner the right to vote on the strategic decisions involving the future of the partnership.

This true integration allows Mazars to operate as one united team across international borders. This unique structure ensures that its clients in Oman receive a seamless service unhindered by international (organizational) barriers. Mazars operates throughout more than 100 countries and 86 of these countries are part of Mazars’ international integrated partnership, with more than 20,000 professionals working from 300 offices worldwide.

Those CARL (international) partners that form Mazars globally are chosen on a very selective basis, and each new partner first undergoes long and tough training and assessment scions to ensure their fitness and readiness to become CARL partners and positively represent Mazars globally.

This is enhanced by the fact that Mazars has a strong professional training base, represented in Mazars University. This enables Mazarians to develop the strengths of its staff and partners in all areas that they need competence to win the game. The training can be provided either on a face-to-face basis or remotely

through eLearning.

Last but not least, Mazars is a strongly digitally oriented organization, that enables it competently to move globally as a united organization. It keeps closely upgraded with the all the relevant digital transformations taking place which might have an impact on its performance to add the maximum value to their clients.

Abbas Al Humaid is one of those top Omani business leaders who do what they love and integrate their passions with their job tasks. Based on the proposition that future is something we actively create, not something that happens to us, Abbas always explores policy choices and business decisions based on the trends and forces at work in in the Omani and global economy,

weighing both opportunities and obstacles that lie ahead. As a good leader he has a vision that inspires others, and the ability to manifest this vision. Another quality of his leadership is that he leads from the front. He takes the responsibility of failures and credits success to his team. Abbas engages people at all levels and makes himself accessible.

SUCCESS STORY

The story of “Mazars Oman” began in 2003 when Abbas, as an individual, used to serve the government of Abu Dhabi as an Advisor, at the level of undersecretary, leading a total comprehensive change project in one of their largest organizations. The success he achieved there inspired him to return to Oman and face all challenges required to participate in and contribute to the growth and development of his own people and country.

To maximise the benefit of his return, Abbas approached Mazars, a top international organization, specializing in audit, advisory and consultancy. Today Mazars Oman is an integrated part of the Mazars Group. Abbas Al Humaid’s eyes lit up when he said, “We are also approved by the Capital Market Authority (CMA) since 2004 to audit the entities regulated by CMA including listed public stock companies (SAOGs), mutual investment funds, insurance

companies and others”.

Mazars in Oman still have many goals to achieve but has come a long way since its inception. It is run by three partners: Abbas Al Humaid, Samir Bitar, FCA, and Dr. Jonathan Stearns, MBA.

Abbas Al Humaid is the first Gulf States national and one of the few thousand globally who is authorized by the “International Council of Management Consulting Institutes” (ICMCI), a UN sanctioned non-government organization to practice as a Management Consultant, with areas of expertise in Strategic Management, Leadership Development, Organizational Development, Restructuring and Financial & Administration Systems.

Moreover, Mazars Oman held many free of charge training and knowledge spreading events to support Oman’s growth. The other topic was how can Omani individuals plan for their career growth practically, easily, fast and with least amount of resources making the use of the new knowledge age and the facilities and resources that make them available.

Not only that. Mazars conducted number of studies and written number of articles addressing the same two above mentioned topics. These articles/studies either published in the local media for free of charge or directly sent to the decision makers in the country.

Some of these articles can be accessed to in Abbas website www.alhumaid.org

In this regards it is worth mentioning that Abbas has published six books on these and related topics, including “The Tranquil Soul” and “Your Career Path: An Introduction to Developing Your Business Portfolio” that was included in 2009 in the Chartered Management Institute U.K. Study Resource Centre and their Library as a reference material for both “the Personal Development as a Manager and Leader” and “Career Planning”.
