Communities In Schools is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. With a growing population of students who need support,

On October 18, 2013,The GEO Foundation proudly donated $20,000 to AAA Scholarship Foundation at Central Arizona Correctional Facility. The donation will provide scholarships

to economically-disadvantaged families so that they may select the best educational options for their children.

On August 12th, 2013,The GEO Foundation proudly donated $10,000 to the American Liver Foundation in honor of Richard L. Stalder, past president of the American Correctional Association.

Mr. Stalder has been diagnosed with chronic liver disease and is waiting on a liver transplant. David Donahue, Vice President of Eastern Region; Tomas Nealon, the National Chairman of the

CT DF AwardsScholarships For High School Graduates

In August 2013, Central Texas Detention Facility and The GEO Group Foundation partnered with Bexar County Commissioner Paul Elizondo and the San Antonio Independent School District

Foundation to award five, $1,000 scholarships to local San Antonio graduating seniors.

Every year, for the last fourteen years, the Central Region has hosted an annual golf tournament benefiting the Special Olympics of Texas (SOTX).

The goal was to raise enough money to help SOTX build their own headquarter space. On September 6th, 2013, The GEO Group and Special

Olympics of Texas reached that momentous milestone. SOTX hosted a ground breaking ceremony at the site of the new headquarters in Austin.

Ground was broken by Danna Coapland, from The GEO Group’s Central Region Office. The GEO Group is responsible for donating the lead gift of $2

million to the campaign.

Central Region Donates $150K to Special Olympics Texas

The Central Region Office hosted its 14th Annual Special Olympics Texas Golf Tournament on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at The Republic Golf Course in San Antonio, Texas. With the

dedication and generosity of the Central Region facilities, our Vendors and the Corporate Office, we proudly presented $150,000 to Special Olympics Texas making this the largest

donation to date.

In May 2013, Warden John Gay, Central Arizona Correctional Facility, presented $11,000 in scholarships. The scholarship

ceremony at Florence High School included over 30 different scholarship presentations and with the exception of State

sponsored colleges and universities, The GEO Group is the largest financial contributor to the program annually. The GEO Group Foundation provides scholarships annually to

High School graduates who meet specific academic standards.

The GEO Group Foundation Makes a Difference

The GEO Group Foundation continues to support the local communities through its unwavering pursuit of excellence in the academia of higher learning. On April 2, 2013, Warden Cherry

presented Clayton County Commissioner Chairman Jeffery Turner with our annual $10,000 scholarship check. Each Commissioner receives $2,000 in scholarships for their perspective districts, for students accepted into accredited institutions of higher learning.

Lesson Spun From Tragedy

In April 2013, Western Region Detention Facility held a bake sale to raise money for the tornado victims in Oklahoma. At the end of the day, with most staff fighting the sugar buzz, a total of $366.00 was

raised by the event. Staff experienced an even greater reward for their efforts as The GEO Group Foundation matched the money raised

dollar-for-dollar.

On December 4th, 2012 The GEO Group Foundation embraced the PACE Youth Program at Southeast Texas Transitional Center by

presenting a $10,000 Check. This donation will aid in assisting PACE Youth, Inc. reach at least 200 families during 2013 and educate them on life skill enhancement, parenting workshops directed by Licensed

Professional Counselors, monthly group outings and Workforce Development for eight weeks during the summer.

The GEO Group Headquarters lost a special member of its team in 2012. Barbara Cox passed away in January, after five years with GEO. To honor Barbara Cox, GEO partnered with the American Heart Association for its Annual Heart Walk.

The GEO Foundation donated $5,000 to the American Heart Association in her memory.

GEO’s Christmas Gifts to Boys Town

The GEO Group Corporate Office in Boca Raton, FL has the giving spirit when it comes to helping the children at Boys Town. 46

children were generously given Christmas presents and able to have a Merry Christmas because of all the wonderful employees at The GEO Group Corporate Office. Boys Town Volunteers came to pick

up all the presents and it took 3 cars!

Awarding Our First Scholarships

It was with great pleasure that beginning this year, Moshannon Valley Correctional Center established a scholarship program for students in the community. Two scholarships of $1,000 were approved and awarded as follows: MVHS: Natalie E. Domanick and Tayia R.

Swoope. POHS: Cody Ammerman and Carly Renee Gonder.

Gina Larsen, the Human Relations Marketing Coordinator for The GEO Group Corporate Headquarters recently went through chemotherapy for Hodgkins lymphoma at age 24. Because of her, a pre-walk bowling party in October for Light the Night

raised $2,500 and brought out 100 employees and family members. The company matches funds raised.
