As well as addressing the High Street, the extension extends back to link seamlessly with the existing Lower and Upper Malls to provide bigger and better units at this end of the Centre. It also contains a new 2nd floor which links into Car Park Level 1, and a new basement. There is full level access to all the units. The new façade on the High Street is the only new external wall visible to the public. It is continuously glazed for 2-storeys, with stainless steel panels interspersed between large panes of glass. Projecting bays between stone columns articulate the façade and help to give a vertical emphasis. The top floor is located behind a double mansard slate roof, with dormer windows, which are set back from the main façade. This is a low maintenance and hard-wearing ‘shell and core’ project, allowing maximum flexibility for tenants’ fit-outs and for adaptability and change in the future. project services Architecture
