Let Go and Let God
The Good News
During my searches for affirmations and meditation pieces, I ran across a YouTube video of Wayne Dyer, an American Philosopher reading these words from “Three Magic Words” written by Uell Stanley Andersen (1917- 1986) “I know that I am pure spirit, that I always have been, and that I al-ways will be. There is inside me a place of confidence and quietness and security where all things are known and understood. This is the Universal Mind, God, of which I am a part and which responds to me as I ask of it. This Universal Mind knows the answer to all of my problems, and even now the answers are speeding their way to me. I needn’t struggle for them; I needn’t worry or strive for them. When the time comes, the answers will be there. I give my problems to the great mind of God; I let go of them, confident that the correct answers will return to me when they are needed. Through the great law of attraction, everything in life that I need for my work and fulfill-ment will come to me. It is not necessary that I strain about this – 'only be-lieve'. For in the strength of my belief, my faith will make it so. I see the hand of Divine Intelligence all about me, in the flower, the tree, the brook, the meadow. I know that the intelligence that created all these things is in me and around me and that I can call upon it for my slightest need. I know that my body is a manifestation of pure spirit and that spirit is perfect; therefore my body is perfect also. I enjoy life, for each day brings a constant demonstration of the power and wonder of the universe and myself. I am confident. I am serene. I am sure. No matter what obstacle or undesirable circumstance crosses my path, I refuse to accept it, for it is nothing but illu-sion. There can be no obstacle or undesirable circumstance to the mind of God, which is in me, and around me, and serves me now.” This really spoke to me. I feel it will speak to all of you. Probably in a less verbose and poetic way, it pretty much says, “Let go and let God”. It also brings to mind, “in God, all things are possible” – we kind of forget that. Sometimes we think that we can do it all ourselves. Well, we can’t. I know I can’t – that is why I come to Church on Sunday – even when I don’t want to, when I would rather sleep in, or just hang with a cup of coffee on my front porch. I come, because this is the time, I personally lay my burden at the feet of God. It isn’t easy for me to let go, I’m wound too tight to do that, are you? Do you feel that Sunday and Church is the time to let go? I hope so, because it works wonders.

Why spend money on what is not bread, and
your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen
to me, and eat what is good, and you will de-light in the richest of
fare. Give ear and come to me; listen, that you
may live. I will make an everlasting cove-
nant with you, my faith-ful love promised to Da-vid. See, I have made him a witness to the peoples, a ruler and commander of
the peoples. Surely you will summon nations you know not, and nations you do not know will
come running to you, be-cause of the Lord your
God, the Holy One of Israel, for he has en-
dowed you with splendor.”
Isaiah 55: 2-5

The mission of Bill's Brigade is to support families who are in crisis by making their day to day needs easi-er. Crisis can be defined in a myriad of ways, but our agency is focused on supporting families in Central New York (specifically Madison and Onondaga counties) when every-thing is falling apart.
Whether it's the loss of a loved one and the family that’s left navigating their way through grief, a fami-ly member amid medical treatment from cancer or another devastating disease, or other traumatic events--Bill's Brigade aims to alleviate the day to day tasks of running and maintaining a household, so the family can concentrate solely on the crisis at hand. Our team of volunteers will provide the fol-lowing services. 1. Meal preparation and coordination to avoid du-plication and overload of food. We organize a meal preparation and delivery system from our volun-teers. A coordination of meals will avoid duplication of food offerings and overload of food on any given day/week. 2. Errands and/or grocery shopping. We organize the dates and physically shop for, deliver, and put away groceries for the families and/or other local errands as requested. 3. Home Services: We provide basic house cleaning and organizational services within the home on an as needed basis. 4. Small Home Repairs: We identify professionals in the carpentry/construction industry to provide ser-vices to alleviate a "punch list" of household items to complete. Small home repairs may include fixing a leaking sink, repairing holes in the wall, replacing appliances, snow removal, lawn mowing, etc… Our goal is to lovingly respect the families wishes while alleviating some of their day to day needs, to allow them a breather during their most challeng-ing moment. For more information or to volunteer or donate please visit www.billsbrigade.org or call Sue Litera at 315.710.5750 or [email protected].

(Robin’s Message—Continued) I hope you are all enjoying your summer, we cer-tainly are. Soon (too soon), the State Fair will be upon us and school starts shortly. Don’t forget to pick up some school supplies for our School Kits (Ethel will shop if you are unable), I am certain that the families that receive these are quite grateful. This is such a wonderful outreach that we do for the community, small but powerful – that is St. Paul’s. Some of you may be wondering if we will be hav-ing our annual Tag Sale in September. Short an-swer, no. The Outreach Committee met and de-cided after much discussion, to move the Tag Sale to May – the same weekend of the big Communi-ty Garage Sale. I wholeheartedly support this and think it is one of our better ideas. Our Bazaar will
also take on a different look this year – please support this, even though it is different. The Com-mittee is thinking of how to do things in a more efficient way, as it should be. Just because it’s al-ways been done a certain way, doesn’t mean it is still effective. Before I sign off, please keep the Presiding Bish-op in your prayers. He will have undergone sur-gery for Prostate Cancer by the time you receive this newsletter. He has a wonderful outlook and I am sure all will be well. Please enjoy your summer, we will see you all soon. Peace and Love. Robin Weisbrod Sr. Warden

The large brown window air condi-tioner that was used in the Parish Hall has disappeared. It was removed from the window and placed in a corner of the former nursery area last fall. It was thought that someone had moved it to the outdoor shed for storage, and so it's disappearance was not noticed until this summer. If anyone has any information that may help us locate this item, please contact Ed Hoffman, 315-687-6599, Don Lee 315-6873558, or Robin Weisbrod 315-655-4321. Thank you.

NEW FALL FESTIVAL!!
Our Holiday Bazaar is taking on a whole new look! After much discus-
sion by the fund raising committee and Vestry, it was determined that the tradi-
tional Bazaar needed to change in order to be a viable fund raiser while
also meeting the changing needs of our congregation.
The Fall Festival will take place on Saturday, Nov 3rd, from 9 to 3:00.
The festival will have our traditional Basket Raffle, and the CHS Select
Choir will still perform. The luncheon has been replaced with a big Bake Sale, and our Holiday Craft area is
giving way to outside vendors, with a single Holiday table from St Paul’s.
The Luncheon was discontinued as over the past four years, our records
showed our customer base had dwindled so significantly that it is too labor intensive and not cost effective to continue. While it will be missed by some,
we hope our Bake sale will be enjoyed by many. It had also become much more difficult and expensive to produce a large quantity of Holiday crafts,
and records also showed sales significantly down. We still have several lovely items from last year that will be available. By opening up the Parish
Hall space to outside vendors, we are hopeful we will find a whole new audi-ence this year! As the song says “Life Changes” and so must we.
We are excited for this new venue, and hope the congregation will enjoy it and attend!!

Stewardship as Spiritual Practice Workshops Stewardship is the spiritual practice of giv-ing back to God from what God has given us; it’s how we spend our resources: our time, tal-ents, energy, and money. Intentional practic-es around stewardship are important parts of our faith and how we follow Jesus—and there are many resources available to our parishes. The Rev. Canon Carrie Schofield-Broadbent will lead five FREE “Stewardship as Spiritu-al Practice” workshops throughout the Dio-cese this August and September.
