Information Scavenger Hunt
Did you know? The Oklahoma Department of Libraries has paid for every school in the state to get free access to an online student encyclopedia from one of the most trusted names in reference: Encyclopaedia Britannica. To introduce students in grades K-8 to this wonderful resource, we’re hosting an information scavenger hunt with lots of prizes!
Prizes Grades K-5: One elementary school student will win Britannica Student Encyclopedia, a 16-volume set. The winning student’s school library will also win a set! Nine lucky students will each win a Britannica Learn & Explore book of their choice.
Prizes Grades 6-8: One middle school student will win a 26-volume Compton’s by Britannica encyclopedia. The winning student’s school library also receives a set! Nine middle school students will each win a Britannica Learn & Explore book of their choice.
Step One: Get Britannica Online School Edition. Make sure your school library has access to Britannica Online School Edition. Don’t have access? Go to: accountsetup.school.eb.com or contact Sadie Mattox at 405-522-3476 or [email protected].
Step Two: Register by February 18 for The Great Britannica Information Scavenger Hunt. You’ll get online access to the Scavenger Hunt on February 20, plus digital delivery of The Oklahoman!
Step Three: Go on the Hunt! Show your students how to access Britannica Online School Edition to answer the questions in the scavenger hunt. Collect their answers. By March 1, send the names of all participants who aced the hunt to: [email protected]. We’ll hold a drawing for the prizes.
