Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)FSC is an international, non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting responsible management of the world’s forests.

The FSC runs a global forest certi!cation system with two key components: Forest Management and Chain of Custody certi!cation. This system allows consumers to identify, purchase and use timber and forest products produced from well-managed forests.All goods carrying the FSC logo or claiming to be FSC must be produced by a supplier with an FSC Chain of Custody certi!cate.

EU Flower labelThe EU Eco-label scheme, otherwise known as the Flower Mark, was established !rst in 1992. The EU Flower Mark is a sign that a product is ethical, environmental and !t for purpose. Each product category has di"ering sets of criteria it must ful!l depending on

how it’s produced, from what and for what purpose it’s designed. The criteria are designed to analyse the impact of the product throughout its life cycle, starting from raw material extraction in the pre-production stage, through to production, distribution and disposal.

FairtradeThe Fairtrade foundation provides an independent certi!cation of the trade chain, licensing use of the FAIRTRADE Mark as a consumer guarantee on products that are in accordance with internationally agreed Fairtrade standards. All goods carrying the

Fairtrade logo must be produced by suppliers with a Fairtrade license. The Foundation is the UK member of Fairtrade Labelling Organisations International (FLO), which unites 21 labelling initiatives across Europe, Japan, North America, Mexico and Australia/New Zealand as well producers worldwide. Fairtrade seeks to transform trading structures and practices in favour of the poor and disadvantaged.

Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)GOTS is recognised as the leading processing standard for textiles made from organic !bres worldwide. It de!nes high level environmental criteria along

the entire supply chain of organic textiles and requires compliance with social criteria as well as environmental. Only textile products that contain a minimum of 70% organic !bres can become certi!ed according to GOTS. All chemical inputs e.g. dyestu"s and auxiliaries used must meet certain environmental and toxicological criteria and also the choice of accessories is limited under ecological aspects.

Blue AngelCreated in 1978 The Blue Angel claims to be the oldest environment-related label for products and services in the world. Focused initially on recycled products the Blue Angel certi!cate has now been broadened to include other

environmental bene!ts. The Blue Angel promotes the concerns of both environmental protection and consumer protection. It is awarded to products and services which - from a holistic point of view - are of considerable bene!t to the environment and meet high standards of serviceability, health and occupational protection. Economical use of raw materials during production and use, a long service life and a sustainable disposal – all these are factors of great importance.

Bio MarkBest known within the foods stu"s sector the Bio Label, launched in September 2001 brings about clarity and uniformity for organic or eco products respectively.

Not only can we rely on it but consumers can rely on it also: “If it says ‘Bio’ on the outside it contains organic products”. Only producers and manufacturers who comply with the provisions of the EU Organic Farming Regulation and subject themselves to the mandatory inspections may sell their products as organic or eco goods and label them accordingly with the Bio-Siegel.

Sustainable Forest ManagementThere are a number of independent bodies with their own sets of criteria for what sustainable forestry means and what minimum standards must be achieved to label goods with their marks.

Leading certi!cation bodies work internationally covering many thousands of producers, converters and re-sellers.

As well as replanting of trees such schemes also make provision in their criteria for good management; the protection of local "ora, fauna and wildlife as well as the indigenous people on the land a#ected.

Such bodies require potential users of their marks to undergo rigorous independent assessment processes before a COC (Chain of Custody) or certi!cate is issued.

All items sold under such schemes must have a COC or certi!cate for each supplier in the entire products life cycle. This means that timber or paper products sold under these labels can be traced back to the original forests from which the timber was harvested.

Please be sure to check when buying wooden or paper products whether they are covered by an independent scheme.

Biodegradable Corn Starch “Plastic”Corn starch plastic is renewable, non-polluting and compostable, replacing the need for limited oil reserves by using sustainable plants. During growth, plants absorb CO2 from the atmosphere – this carbon is extracted to form Corn Starch plastic. The carbon is locked up in the bioplastic until it is thrown away.

Once added to compost or land!ll, corn starch plastic starts to decompose. The level of gasses released by the degrading plastic are the same as those absorbed by the plant during its growth, meaning no extra increase in greenhouse gasses.

Recycled PETBottles made of PET (Polyethelene Teraphthalate) are recycled to reuse the material out of which they are made and to reduce the amount of waste going to land!lls.

PET plastic bottles are coded with the code number “1” inside the recycling symbol, usually located on the bottom of the container. The waste PET must be separated from other plastics such as PVC, HDPE, polypropylene and polyethylene as well as any waste; paper, food, metal etc

The recycled PET is shredded, crushed and processed before “#akes” are used as a raw material for making

items normally produced from polyester. Items produced include, umbrella canopies, lanyards,

bags and some clothing items.

No GMO seedsWe only uses non GMO cotton seeds for our products. Organic seeds restore and build up the soil, which increases its water retaining ability.

No pesticidesWe only uses organic fertilizers that meet GOTS organic !bre processing standards.

No industrial harvesting methodsThis means that our cotton is harvested by hand. Organic cotton relies mostly on the seasonal freeze for defoliation. The Fairtrade Mark ensures that the farmer gets a !xed price for his cotton.

No chemicals used in the spinning processEvery aspect of the process has been tested in order to minimize its impact on the environment. Organic Wax can be used.

No Chemicals used in the knitting processEven the machine oil is tested for heavy metals. A separate shed for organic knitting ensures that the fabrics are free from foreign !bre contamination.

Eco Friendly DyeingA minimum 95% of the water used in the dyeing process is recycled. The remainder evaporates. The dyes used have the lowest environmental impact.

CuttingWhen cutting fabric for Neutral products the cutting tables and cut pieces are isolated from normal products to avoid contamination.

SewingEvery procedure in the sewing process is controlled to make sure quality is maintained every time. All machines are vacuumed daily to avoid contamination from dust and !bres.

PackingAll Neutral products are packed in cotton bags instead of polybags to ensure a sustainable packing of the end products.

At every step of the production process every care has been taken to ensure the most environmental and ethically responsible proceedures are achieved. Our Neutral range is certi!ed by GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard), EU Eco-Label, Fairtrade, BSCI and Oeko-Tex.
