The Happiest Countries in The World

• According to the United Nations General Assembly's latest report, which averaged scores taken between 2014 and 2015, the top 20 happiest nations in the world all scored 7s.

• It seems no country is perfect and out of 158 countries, more than half rated between 4.0 and 6.0. Most of the wealthier countries did better, but it wasn't just GDP that accounted for the makings of a good life.

• Social support often tipped the scales making it clear that a good living only counts for so much; friends, partners and people you can count on provide a network for well-being.

• New Zealand has a modern, prosperous

and developed market economy with an estimated gross domestic product (GDP) at purchasing power parity (PPP) per capita of roughly NZ$47,784.

• The currency is the New Zealand dollar, informally known as the "Kiwi dollar"; it also circulates in the Cook Islands.

• New Zealand was ranked sixth in the 2013 Human Development Index, fourth in the the Heritage Foundation's 2012 Index of Economic Freedom and 13th in INSEAD's 2012 Global Innovation Index.

Kingdom of Denmark

• Denmark ranks as having the world's highest social mobility, a high level of income equality and has one of the world's highest per capita income.

• The World Bank ranks Denmark as the easiest place in Europe to do business. Establishing a business can be done in a matter of hours and at very low costs.

• The most corruption free country in the world.

• About 85 percent of total primary energy supply in Iceland is

derived from domestically produced renewable energy sources.

• Utilization of abundant hydroelectric and geothermal power has made Iceland the world's largest electricity producer per capita.

• As a result of its commitment to renewable energy, the 2014 Global Green Economy Index ranked Iceland among the top 10 greenest economies in the world.

Kingdom of Norway

• Norwegians enjoy the second highest GDP per-capita (after Luxembourg) and fourth highest GDP (PPP) per-capita in the world.

• Today, Norway ranks as the second wealthiest country in the world in monetary value, with the largest capital reserve per capita of any nation.

• The standard of living in Norway is among the highest in the world.

5. Canada

• Most people are surprised to learn that 'Canada is

the world's second-largest country in total area, after Russia.

• It is one of the most beautiful stretches of Earth on the planet. With lush mountainsides and gorgeous snowcapped landscapes, sitting in Canada is like sitting within a painting.

6. Switzerland

• Ranked by the European Union as Europe's most innovative country.

• Many Nobel prizes were awarded to Swiss scientists, for example to the world-famous physicist Albert Einstein.

7. Netherlands

Practicing healthy life-styles, such as exercising and not smoking, improve overall happiness. Still, even healthy people get sick. One of the most influential causes for that is mental illness, with depression and anxiety disorders being the most common. Holland addresses mental health do better to help improve their population's overall happiness level.

14. United Arab Emirates (7.144)

In the United Arab Emirates, many drivers are intentionally getting speeding tickets with the hope that the arresting officers will drive them to the police station in a Bentley or Aston Martin. Now really, when you're happy to get pulled over, what's that say about your country?

United Nations’ REPORT• Study showed that "even in rich countries, less than a third of

people who suffer from mental illness are in receipt of treatment and care.“

• The study measured positive and negative emotions and evaluations of life as a whole. It concluded that mental health is the single most important determinant of individual happiness.

• "This report offers rich evidence that the systematic measurement and analysis of happiness can teach us much about ways to improve the world’s well-being and sustainable development individually and socially."
