HONESTIn my experience 90%+ of developers fromthe big out-sourcing sites will try to take advantage of your inexperience.

They will CHARGE you TOO MUCH.

F A S TIt's never fun spending 6 painful months

begging your developer to finish your game.

7The Stepsof

Page 10: The Haystack Method

Post a job on a freelancing site looking for a developer.

Keep it SHORT and VAGUE,

like "iOS developer wanted for exciting games project/photo app/utility app".

Step 1:

Page 11: The Haystack Method

Step 2:Write out a list of Ad companies you want to use in this app (Revmob, Chartboost, Playhaven, Airpush, etc)

and any other pieces of extra code you want to use (multiplayer, Nextpeer, Flurry, appirater, etc)

Page 12: The Haystack Method

Step 3:Search in the freelancing sites for the names on your list and invite those developers to your job.

If they have SDKs listed in their profile there is a higher chance they can integrate them.

Page 13: The Haystack Method

Step 4:After 24 hours, log on and review all applicants.

Refuse all Skype requests.

Remove all Chinese applicants (too many bad experiences).

Step 5:After 24 hours, log on and review all applicants.

Refuse all Skype requests.

Remove all Chinese applicants (too many bad experiences).

Page 15: The Haystack Method

Step 6:Email shortlisted contractors with one question:

"How long does it take you to integrate Chartboost?"

Page 16: The Haystack Method

Step 7:Delete any that do not reply in 12 hours.

Delete any contractor that says over 1 hour.

Chartboost takes a maximum of 30 minutes.

If they all say over an hour, delete all contractors. Start again at step 1.

Page 17: The Haystack Method

These developers have a much higher than average chance of being honest, fast to respond, and skilled in their job.

Page 18: The Haystack Method

Get your potential contractors to sign an NDA.

Page 19: The Haystack Method

Get a little more specific with them about what you need.

Then start investigating into their specific skills to see if they match what you want.

Page 20: The Haystack Method

Compare their best prices

and how fast they can do

your specified work.

Page 21: The Haystack Method

If they look and sound great, then hire them for a

small job (under $150) first.

See how well and how fast

they do it.

Page 22: The Haystack Method

DO NOT SKIP THIS TEST OR YOU MAY LOSE MONEY!

What people say about the Haystack Method:

Page 24: The Haystack Method

"I put it in my job posting now -

To apply for this job, please respond with how long it takes you to install the Revmob/Chartboost SDK. Instantly sorts out the BS before I waste my time on Skype."
