The Hero is
ME

A methodology that motivates
reading by casting the child as the hero of the story

If a child doesn’t see himself in the pages of a book, he will go looking for himself in all the wrong places.

Don’t usually see themselves or the world that they know between the pages of a book.

If they did, reading would make so much more sense.

And would be so much more fun.

The Hero is ME Is a method of enthusing children by creating big books that put the reader and the reader’s world into the retelling of a story

Children can create books about the people, places and things they know.

And the children can play a starring role in the storytelling.

• Emergent readers and writers, Primary and Special Children • Child-centred • Creates a positive relationship
with reading • Gives the child ownership of
the text • Motivates child to engage in
