Esther

y When the book was being considered many was of the opine that

since it does not contain the name of God in itit should be

exempted from inclusion.

y To many it is more of an historical book like the book of Judith in

the apocrypha

y Yet today we have itGod has allowed it..

y Esther means secret/hidden

y Since God is hidden within the book of Estherso is the meaningas the name suggests.

y Today the question arising among the believers is who is the

greatest?

y Just as the Disciples had

And they began to enquire among themselves, which of them itwas that should do this thing. And there was also a strife among

them, which of them should be accounted the greatest. Lk 22:23-

y At the communion table this is the most important thing on their

minds!

y Today we can look at it and laughbut are we doing the same thing

today?

y We all want to be greatbut what are we doing to be called great?

y Whatever they did they thought that they were great.

y Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least

commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least

in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them,

the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. Mt 5:19

y Greatness comes with obedience and service

y But youshall not be so: but the greater among you, let him be as

the lesser, and he who governs, as one who serves. For which is the

greater; he who reclines, or he who serves? Is it not he whoreclines? But I am among you as He who serves.Lk 22: 26-27

y Esther was destined for greatnessbut not without obedience and

service.

y The church is destined for greatness but not without obedience and

service.

y She was in preparation for 12 mths in order to be presentable before

the King!

y Today the Church like Esther is in preparation to meet the King

y Once saved we have to face the need of the hour

y Mordecai means repentance.penitence

y This is the condition of the worldand it cries out to us

y Mordecai when he came to know of the decree tore his clothes and

sat at the gate.

y Esther tried to console him by giving him some clothes!

y We try to soothe the suffering soul by tending only to his material

need.

y For what is a man profited if he shall gain the whole world and

lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for hissoul?Mt 16:26

y Mordecai refuses to accept Esthers consolationand then address

the real issue.

y He reveals the true condition and expresses that she is not safe

because she is in the palace.

y Today the church is under the impression that it is safe from all that

is going on in this world.

ordecai says to Esther has always stirred me

y For if you are completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance

shall arise to the Jews from another place, but you and your father's

house shall be destroyed. And who knows whether you have come

to the kingdom for a time like this? Est 4:14

y We got saved because some needs to be saved through us.

y And if I am wholly silent God will deliver them through someone

else.

y And I will perish
