What is “Hitsuji Festa”?“Hitsuji Festa” is a festival of lamb & mutton hosted by “HitsujiKajiri Association (HKA)”, a private consumer organization which consists of members who love lamb & mutton.

Purpose of the Hitsuji Festa 2017“Let’s Enjoy Lamb & Mutton Dishes of the World!!“Lamb & mutton is eaten globally since sheep-farming is popular in many parts of the world. Moreover, as lamb & mutton has few religious restrictions, it is loved and used for various dishes in each region. As HKA believes “Eating local food is the easiest way to understand their cultures” and “Japanese have the outstanding characteristic to get used to the other cultures through stomach”. Therefore, HKA considers the event as a “Big Gathering of Lamb & Mutton Dishes from all over the World”, which enables people to learn the diversity of cultures and the taste of lamb & mutton.Although lamb & mutton is treated as "feast meat" in the world, its position is still unstable in Japan. The negative image, which is caused by the meat of discarded wool sheep or the meat handled in a bad condition due to low refrigeration technology, makes people still misunderstand that lamb & mutton is “cheap”, “smelly” and “tough”.But it is a thing of the past. Nowadays, lamb & mutton is recognized as “the fourth meat” and we can see in magazines or menus of restaurants the sign of establishment of the foundation which increases lamb & mutton lovers. One of the purposes of the Hitsuji Festa 2017 is to accelerate this movement.

Features of Hitsuji Festa It is a unique event organized by HKA which has the mission to achieve the world without any restriction in enjoying lamb & mutton. HKA thinks that both shop owners and visitors are companions to boost the popularity of lamb & mutton.

About VisitorsAccording to the business cards HKA received at the Hitsuji Festa 2016, many chefs, restaurant owners, gourmet bloggers, publishers or media, who have strong influence to promote lamb & mutton, visited our festival.Based on the result of the events held by HKA every month, it can be expected that main visitors of the Hitsuji Festa 2017 will be between 30 and 45 years old and their 40% will be male and 60% will be female.

Record of Hitsuji FestaHitsuji Festa was started in 2014 as an one-day event limited to 400 visitors. Since then, it has attracted many people.
