You may be wondering if it is safe to travel to Israel, the Holy Land, the one place on earth that Jesus actually walked. Rich and I felt the same way the first time we went, but we also knew that there were more reasons to go than reasons not to go! Yes, Israel is a star in the news, but think of our own media here in the US, bad news sells and travels fast, its the same with the Holy Land. Our website, www.theholylandwithrichandcheryl.com, has articles & current event updates that will give you a different way of looking at the news and may calm your fears about travel to the Middle East. Our last tour left the day that Jerusalem was recognized as the capitol of Israel and we never felt unsafe or worried.

How We Get There & Where We Stay

We fly to the Holy Land on El Al as group, non-stop from LAX to Tel Aviv. The flight takes 14 1/2 hours, leaving LAX at 1:00 PM and arriving in Tel Aviv the next day at 1:45 PM (Israel is 10 hours ahead of California). Ezer, our guide, meets us at the airport and whisks us away by bus to the Sea of Galilee. In Tiberias, the Galilee region, we stay at the Gai Beach Hotel, a resort right on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. In Jerusalem we stay at

the Leonardo Plaza Hotel, near the Great Synagogue and about 4 blocks from the Jaffa Gate and Old City. All the hotels we stay in are considered 5-star hotels in Israel and have all the amenities you are used to, also, our stays are for a minimum of two nights, so you will not be checking in and out of hotels each day. Breakfast and Dinner is included at all hotels, they offer full buffets for each meal, with fresh fruits, vegetables, salads, cheeses, several meat dishes, sides and desserts. Ask anyone who has been there, they will tell you the food is fabulous!

What Is The Weather Like?

The weather in Israel is comparable to South-ern California. Days in the Spring and Fall are around 70—80 degrees, nights in the 60s, Summer is a little warmer. Consider the weather in Southern California during the tour dates and you will have an idea of Israel weather. At the Dead Sea and Masada, add 10 to 15 degrees and there you have it! Just an FYI: while the days may be suitable for warm weather clothes, remember that many Biblical sites will not allow visitors to enter wearing shorts or sleeveless shirts—your knees and shoulders must be covered. We will advise you each evening regarding what to wear for the next day.
