Happy New Year Everyone!

Wow, isn’t it hard to believe 2012 is

officially over?! It seems every year flies

by faster and faster. If the old saying is

true: “Time flies when you’re having

fun”, then I must be having a blast!

I don’t know about you, but sometimes

I find it easy to focus on things I wish I

would’ve accomplished and things I

would’ve done differently if I could do

2012 over again.

But we must keep our focus on the fu-

ture and stay excited about the possi-

bilities, opportunities, and hope that

this new year holds for us all! Think

of it as a “clean slate”. A new chance

to make smart decisions.

If you’re feeling a little down because

you broke the bank on an avalanche

of Christmas gifts under the tree,

don’t beat yourself up. Simply use it

as motivation to review your budget

and trim unnecessary expenses going

forward (and no, this type of

“trimming” doesn’t include a fresh-cut

Frasier Fur and bright lights and tin-

sel!). You see, just like you got caught

paying more than you expected on

Christmas gifts, festivities, and fun...

“A house is made of walls and beams; a home is built with love and dreams.”

After you have looked into all of your options, you will

be wondering which home to choose. There are many

ways to find the home that is right for you. When

looking at homes, you should keep these criteria in

mind:

 Size

 Price

 Neighborhood

 Mortgage payments

 Repairs, and additional features

While this is a short list, you will learn many other

ways to find your dream home. In the end, you will just

know when you have found the right home.

Moving into your first home will be an experience you

will never forget. You should be excited as this is a little

piece of the world that is just yours. Whether this is the

home you will live in for a long time or just for a short

time, buying a home will give you a sense of pride and

of purpose. Not only will you have a mortgage to pay,

you will also be responsible for making the home your

own. When thinking about purchasing a home, you

should begin saving your money for closing costs, re-

pairs, and decorating materials.

One of the more rewarding moments will be when you

get the keys to your new home and you begin making it

your own with a little paint, furniture, and personal

style. ■ ■ ■

mortgage payment! That’s right…

RATES ARE AT RECORD LOWS!

Don’t take my words for it, visit NewsFrom-

Tripp.com to see the LA Times report on Decem-

ber 27th that “Mortgage Interest Rates finished out the

year near record lows, helping fuel the housing market’s

modest recovery”.

So whether you’re buying a new home, or haven’t

yet taken advantage of these super low rates by refi-

nancing, you could be WASTING money every sin-

gle time you pull out your wallet to pay your mort-

gage or rent, month after month after month!

But hey, it’s up to you. If you’re convinced you have

the lowest mortgage payment possible, then con-

grats! But if you are the slightest bit curious, then

give me a ring on my office line at (704) 438-9770

and I’ll let you know your customized options.

It sure doesn’t hurt to try!

Date Night Delight

You know us girls just love an excuse to get to dress up! This

month’s special Date Night took place at Tripp’s big com-

pany Christmas party, hosted by New American Mortgage.

He begged me to buy a new dress, but I opted for a sparkly

new necklace instead. I ran and had my makeup done at

Merle Norman’s in Birkdale Village while Tripp & Robbie

conveniently snuck in some father-son bonding time at the

latest James Bond movie playing across the street.

After we were both spiffied up and headed to Uptown, we arrived at an old-world,

almost castle-like building and were greeted by a cool blue Winter Wonderland oasis. I

immediately spotted the photo booth and dashed to secure us a spot. It felt as if we

were transported back in time to our high school prom (only this time I had my husband

and soulmate on my arm instead of an im-

mature, awkward boy from science class!).

We spent the rest of the evening

bouncing from station to station, sampling

as many or’derves as our bellies could hold,

meeting new friends, and grooving to the

band. Tripp topped off the night by steal-

ing a kiss under the mistletoe, and telling

me how beautiful I was. Prince Charming

strikes again!

Until next time,

-Wendy

~ Jordan Family Fun Day ~~ Jordan Family Fun Day ~~ Jordan Family Fun Day ~~ Jordan Family Fun Day ~

This month how could we possibly desig-

nate any day other than Christmas as our

Jordan Family Fun Day?! The happiest,

most joyful time of year is all about spend-

ing time with the ones you hold dear to

your heart. While patiently waiting for our

kids to arrive from their mom’s, we spent

the morning in...you guessed it. Starbucks!

(Tripp’s home away from home). Adorned in candy-cane pj’s &

santa hats, & with Americano’s and macchiato’s in hand, we

made a list of all that we were thankful for in 2012.

Finally it as time for the festivities! Since Tripp’s parents have

passed, we spent the evening with my mom and my sister’s

family. We loaded the SUV with my batch of warm oatmeal

peanut butter, chocolate chip cookies, homemade yeast rolls,

and other gifts & goodies and headed for Jamestown.

Christmas evening was spent chasing my lil’ nephews around,

playing with their fresh new toys (the Spiderman mask, talking

Buzz Lightyear, & 99 cent whoopee cushion were among the

faves), eating ‘til we couldn’t breathe, and laughing ‘til we

cried at my mom’s infamous gag-gift version of the Dirty Santa

game.

After making it back to Hunters-

ville, we let the kids finally tear

into their presents while we all

watched “A Christmas Story”.

After the lights were off, the

house was quiet, and everyone

was snugly tucked into bed, I fin-

ished a chapter of “The Christ-

mas Spirit” book by Joel Osteen,

closed my eyes, and thanked the

Lord for the beautiful blessing

of family.

Robbie & Carrie (& Dexter) anxiously opening their presents!

Tripp a BIG bite of our yummy meal!

Caleb & I finding something to drill!

The Hulk & Spiderman showing off their

muscles...and footed pj’s!

What’s Cookin’? What’s Cookin’? What’s Cookin’? What’s Cookin’? ~ ~ ~ ~ with Wendywith Wendywith Wendywith Wendy

“Ooooh, Wendy girl...you’ve gotta try this!”, my mom shrieked. “It’s a healthy honey-mustard potato salad that I made by experiment and it’s a winner!”

I don’t normally fix potato salad since Tripp isn’t a fan a mayonnaise, but this mayo-free version had me all ears. Especially since with the New Year, I’m focusing on healthy recipes.

So, taking my mom’s advice (which is something I’ve learned through the years will usually never steer you wrong), I made a quick trip down the road to my favorite store, The Bradford Farmers Market, and bought an arm-ful of redskin potatoes, green onions, red bell peppers and a jar of local Mountain Ridge honey.

I came home, whipped up the dish in no time flat, and handed a spoon to my taste-testing guinea pig (AKA Tripp). The fact that he started dancing around as he savored the bite made me realize Mama was right...this one was a winner!

3lbs cooked redskin pota-toes

5 boiled eggs

1 16oz bag of frozen sweet peas (cooked)

1 bunch of green onions

1 medium red bell pepper

1 shredded carrot

Tripp’s wife Wendy also shares his vision of the importance and stability involved with home owner-

ship, albeit in somewhat of a different way. After meeting many of his client’s and seeing them beam

with pride when moving into their new dream home, she couldn’t help but think about those who are

less fortunate and have to face every day without a home to live in.

So she rolled up her sleeves and went to work as an active volunteer, advocate, and promoter of “A

Child’s Place”, a charity here in Charlotte that is working to erase the impact of homelessness on

children and their education.

Her most recent project “Operation: Home Sweet Home” was a homeless awareness endeavor

centered around the holidays, where she encouraged children that home is where the heart is.

Tripp is very supportive of her outreach, and uses his profession as a constant reminder of how

blessed we are to have a place to call home.

requests certain basic documents when you apply for a mortgage. Don't wait for them to ask. Have these documents ready when you walk into the lender's office: your last two pay

stubs, W-2s, income-tax returns and bank statements. Save these documents in an

electronic format, so you can easily resend them if anything gets lost.

Thanks for the question Kevin!

Depending on your eligibility and military service, you might

qualify for the no down payment loans with the Veterans

Administration. In fact, most veterans do not use a down

payment. Instead, borrowers finance the down payment by

paying a funding fee, which can be wrapped into the loan

itself.

A basic "funding fee" of 2 percent must be paid by all but

certain exempt veterans. A down payment of 5 percent or

more will reduce the fee to 1.5 percent of the loan and a

10 percent down payment will reduce the fee to 1.25 per-

cent. If you take out a loan without a down payment, the

funding fee makes your monthly mortgage payment higher

than if you had some form of down payment. This is called

financing your down payment.

Hope this helps!

dle the funding of your loan, along with many other factors which make your purchase

go smoothly.

3. We will coordinate with the escrow team and schedule a time convenient for you to

sign the final papers at their office.

4. You walk away with the keys to your new dream home!
