histories and knowledge. They only became Hopi once they got to the Hopi Mesas.

•Hopi Mesa area occupied into Archaic period and possibly earlier•Many Hopi Villages abandonded or relocated during Pueblo revolt (1680)•Oraibi continuously occupied since about 1000 AD

• Location where significant events have occurred:

Origin place (Sipapuni)

Clan Migrations (Archaeological sites)

Ceremony origins

Locations for natural resource acquisition, including plants, animals, minerals, and water

Passage to and residence in the afterlife

• Location where important dieties and people reside

11 different personages integral to Hopi history, ceremony, and continuity are in the Grand Canyon

• Continues to maintain and inform on Hopi history
