Dali is an area that is most famous for its marble and offers tourists some of China’s most amazing scenery since it is located between mountains and the Erhai Lake. The town is very old, very small, and impressive to look at, having been founded nearly 1200 years ago.

The Everest Base Camp offers the world’s best view, that of the Northern Tibet side of the mountain. Expect a several day hike from Lhasa to get there, which offers amazing scenery and excellent adventure. Harsh conditions make for a memorable trip, but it is definitely not for the faint of heart.

Emeishan is another UNESCO world heritage site and one of the four sacred Buddhist Mountains in China. At roughly 3km high, this mountain is crisp all year round, laden with snow and peppered with temples that can only be gotten to with a bit of hard work.
