Invite to all Battalion Companies & Leaders from Lowland RFCA The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo Company (REMT) have offered a number of seats to the uniformed youth

organisations for the pre-dress rehearsal that takes place on the 4th August at 1930 hrs. I have been asked by the

other groups to attend as well.

There are certain REMT conditions that apply to the event and they are:

Adult Supervision - Each group is to be accompanied the appropriate number of Adults as regulations

specify as per size of the group.

CS Athletics – 10th Leith win the Cup It was a warm and balmy evening at the Pinkie playing fields, Musselburgh, on Monday 30th June. 2016, when 20 x

boys from three companies gathered to engage in a momentous tussle to become the individual age group champions,

and win the overall Battalion Athletics Cup.

The competition format was a heptathlon, consisting of 1) Long Jump, 2) Shot Putt, 3) 100m, 4) 200/400, 5)

800/1500m. In addition there was a 4 x 100m Company relay race. It was apparent from the outset that there were

some boys who had an aptitude for athletics and there were others less so, who nevertheless gave of their best.

A special mention to the individual age group champions, Michael Brown, 10th Leith, Murray Blair, 48 Edinburgh and

Lucas Johnston 65th Edinburgh. The overall Company Champions on the night and the recipients of the Battalion

Athletics Cup were a worthy 10th Leith Company. Well done to all the boys for their undoubted endeavour.

CS 5-a-side Outdoor Football We had a good response to the 5 a side competition at Lethem on 17th June. 6 companies took part with six junior

teams and 3 senior teams. Some really good football was played in right spirit of the game. The 48th ran were the

winners of the senior event and the 53rd eventually won the junior event after a play off with the 20th.

Well done to all who took part. It proves there is still an appetite for football in the Battalion and perhaps we can repeat

this event early next session with even more companies involved. Thanks also to Pamela and Ellis for getting the pitches

prepared in spite of some awful weather.

News from Scottish Headquarters

Bouldering Workshop BB Scotland has teamed up with Climb Scotland to run a workshop session on the evening of 30th June in Glasgow. The

aim of the event is to introduce indoor bouldering as a BB activity, and equip BB leaders to supervise a group of Young

People through a structured bouldering session. There is no cost to this event, but places are very limited. If interested,

please email [email protected] to register.

Comic Relief Small Grants New funding opportunities through Comic Relief are now available. Learn more by visiting

https://www.foundationscotland.org.uk/apply/

Brigade Council A reminder that Brigade Council / Conference will be in Belfast from the 2nd – 4th September. Usually a significant number

of Scots make the effort to attend and it would be good if your Battalion could be represented too. Visit

http://www.bbni.org.uk/nibrigadeconference.htm to learn more and how to book.

Energy Envoys Energy Envoys is a new volunteering opportunity which enables young people to help their community to use energy more

wisely, save money and reduce carbon emissions.

We understand that volunteering opportunities can sometimes be harder for young people to find compared with other

Queen’s Badge/DofE activities, but Energy Envoys is flexible enough to cater for all. Through their volunteering, participants

could conduct an energy audit, organise an energy awareness campaign or run an energy saving competition. Learn more

by visiting www.energyenvoys.org.uk
