JUSTIFICATION

• This work is thought to be applied in P4, as a result to work on the classroom’s name project.

• They decided to be the Crocodiles’ classroom that’s why I chose the story named “ Little Croc” which it has been readapted according to their age and level.

HOW ENGLISH IS TAUGHT

• PRE-PRIMARY• English is introduced

in pre-primary because of the importance that English has in our society as much as for students to have a good communicative competence.

English in Pre-Primary

• Last year we had an introduction of the English language but this year we started the project.

• P3 has half an hour with half group, in other words, in an hour we split the group.

• P4 has an hour and a half. They have a session of 30m in the morning with half group, and 1 hour in the afternoon with the whole group.

English in pre-primary

• P5 has half an hour with half group.

• We learn through songs, games, stories, ICT resources, lots of repetition.

• We do as much immersion as possible, using al kind of resources as puppets, body language, and with the help of other children.

ENGLISH IN PRIMARY

• In first cycle English is taught differently due to they learn through stories, songs, games, ICT following more or less the same method that pre-primary. They have 2 sessions per week.

• In second and third cycle, they have 2 sessions with the whole group plus I session with half group in which they do “racons”. They have book and the activity book too.

• This year I have done science in English as first taste doing another subject in english.

PREVIOUS KNOWNLEGDE

• I started the project from what they have already known about crocodiles making profit of their own experience.

• Then I asked them what they’d really like to know about Crocodiles, so we started looking at, creature feature having the example the Nile Crocodile.

THE STORY

STORY TIME: THE HUNGRY CROCODILE

Once upon a time, in the jungle, it was a croc who was very sad.

Then he decided to walk through the jungle

Eating bananas makes me so big said the gorilla.

Little Croc saw a Big Lion laying on the grass

Eating grapes makes me so big said the lion.

Little Croc saw a Big Elephant drinking on a waterhole.

Eating pineapples makes me so big said the elephant.

Little Croc saw a Big Croc swimming in the river. “Will I ever be BIG like you?

Little Croc wondered “ I want to be bigger”, but I have to wait.

Little Croc’s friends hadn’t seen him for a while, so they decided to call him “ Where are you Little Croc?

AIMS

• To work on Jungle Animals such as the GORILLA, LION, ELEPHANT.

• To work on BIG/ LITTLE• To work on HAPPY/ SAD.• To work on fruits such as BANANA, GRAPES,

PINEAPPLE.• To work on different animal colours such as:

GREEN like the Croc, BLACK like the Gorilla, GOLDEN like the lion or GREY like the elephant.

AIMS

• To work on fruits and colours: bananas are yellow, grapes are purple or green, pineapples are brown.

OBJECTIVES

• Animal heads, Crocs have Long head, Elephants have trunk, Gorillas have round head.

• Tails, Crocs have strong tail, Monkeys have long tail, elephants have curly tail.

• Animals sounds: Croc makes SNIP-SNAP, Lion roars and Elephant like a trumpet.

LEARNING ACTIVITES

• Matching the tail with the animal.

OBJECTIVES

• Finally the big question about the story “ WHAT MAKES YOU SO BIG? was very useful to me to work in the Intercultural’s concept about “ Healthy food” helps you to grow up strong and healthy like the elephant or the lion in the story.

• The fruit’s day, once a week we eat fruit for breakfast.

• Every child has got a mask so you have different children being different animals, elephants, lions and monkeys.

• They all are running gently around the class.• They have to listen to teacher’s command

saying animals’ names and instructions such as if your elephant move your trunk or if you are a lion roar, or if you are a gorilla make a monkeys' gestures
