Innovative, high-quality, affordable, and flexible, our programs offer a variety of musical experiences. Our staff works closely with each program site to ensure that each program is tailored to our standard of excellence and meets your institution’s needs for music education. Program Options: Instrument lessons and group classes (up to four instruments at each site from the list on the right) Classical and/or gospel choir On-site performances and workshops Pre-existing program support: If your institution already has an orchestra or choir program, we can support your program in the following ways: ° Private or semi-private lessons ° Technique classes ° Small ensemble coaching ° Audition preparation coaching, for advanced students Music theory: We use the ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) curriculum, an internationally- acclaimed and standardized curriculum. We offer music theory classes for young students all the way up to advanced high school students. K-8 Concerts for YOUth: A curriculum that K-8 classroom teachers can use to work with their students before and after attending our free spring concert series, Concerts for YOUth. High school teaching internship: High school students with an interest in music and/or education can apply for our teaching internship program. Each high school student will be matched with a Hyde Park Suzuki Institute faculty mentor, who will work with the high school students as teaching assistants and introduce them to principles of music education. Instruments we offer include violin, viola, cello, upright bass, piano, and guitar. In programs seeking to offer more than one instrument, we recommend combinations that work well together so that students can play in ensembles as they gain more skills. For example, pairing violin and cello together means that students can play in a string orchestra within two years, which we can then make a part of the program. Programs can be offered before, during, or after school hours at the mutual convenience of partner institutions and the Hyde Park Suzuki Institute. Program availability subject to faculty availability.
