MP 12 N– HThe MP 12 N–H is networked withits host system either via the serialmultipoint link or the integratedEthernet interface.

In conjunction with the TFTtouchscreen, the graphical userinterfaces of different storagemanagement systems can bedisplayed via web browser.

MP 12 D– HThe MP 12 D–H offers the samefunctionality as the MP 12 D–S.It is an operating controller thataccesses a central storagemanagement system. The internalstorage management modulesfrom Hänel are not included.

In a network of up to 99 storageunits, each unit can be controlledindividually and independently ofthe others at its own operating(client) controller.

The storage management of all theunits in the network is performedcentrally via an MP 100 D controlsystem or a PC-supported storagemanagement program.

The MP 12 D–H is connectedvia the integrated serial multipointlink.

The central control system MP 100 D

The central control system MP 100 D was developed so thatlarge-scale storage installationscan be managed comfortably withthe integrated storage managementpackages from Hänel. It managesthe data of up to 99 storage units(depending on the version).

The client controllers MP 12 D–Hor MP 12 N–H are used as theoperating units at each carousel/lift – this means each storage unitcan be operated independently ofthe others.

All the articles in storage aremanaged centrally via the MP 100 D. The PC flashcard hasenough space for 100,000 partnumbers in up to 400,000 storagelocations and 4,000 pick/job/partslists containing up to 100,000items.

Powerful order picking functionsmake work in the storeroom mucheasier. Pick and put lists, forexample, can be processed eithersequentially or according to route-

optimized or time-optimized con-siderations. Route information ismemorized to ensure the usercovers the shortest distances.

For high-speed order picking, the optional shelf/container pre-positioning function is used, whichpositions all the storage unitssimultaneously.

The standard Ethernet interfaceprovides for data exchange withhigher-level host systems. Hook-

up is simple thanks to an FTPclient and data conversion soft-ware contained in the MP 100 D.

The integrated web server ensuresthat the storage data are availablein the customer’s computer net-work.

The integrated Hänel storagemanagement packages can beadapted to individual customerrequirements with numerous supplementary modules.

Access codemanagement Different user groups can be definedvia user management. A usergroup is given access rights tocertain areas of the store (storageunit, shelf/container or in the case of the Rotomat® to individualstorage compartments).

Each user receives a user number and password and isassigned to a group, thereby permitting access to certain storage areas.


Barcode cross-check When an article is stored or re-trieved, the user is prompted toenter the article number as acheck, for example via barcode.

This ensures that the user puts inor takes out the correct article.


Management of externalcontainersComplete containers/trays withthe articles stored on them can beremoved from the Lean-Lift® andtransported to the production lineon a trolley, for example.

When the container is returned tostorage, the articles that havebeen added/removed are bookedto the lift.


Free space managementArticles can be stored in differentcontainer types of predefinedsizes.

These data are assigned to theindividual shelves/containers asfixed parameters.

Empty containers can be addedor deleted at any time.

The automatic storage locationsearch then suggests an emptycontainer of the required type.


Item pool management Item pool data are not dependenton storage location; they are dataused to describe the articles, suchas article number, name, or addi-tional fields defined by customersthemselves.

Item pool data can be transmittedvia the interface during operationand therefore can be updated atany time.

Integrated cameraEvery time a container is moved,a camera integrated in the Lean-Lift® takes a picture of thecontainer.

A fixed number of pictures percontainer are archived, so thatchanges to materials on the con-tainer can be tracked.

Management of storagelocation height A relative height can be assignedto each shelf/container. The auto-matic storage location searchsuggests a location with the re-quired height to the user.

In the Lean-Lift® specifically, thismeans optimum space utilizationcan be achieved by storing onlyparts of the same height on onecontainer. Containers that are loaded too high can be rejected by the lift depending on the setting.


Shelf pre-positioningParallel and serial shelf pre-positioning are used to achievemore efficient order picking.


Minimum storage time Articles that have to be kept instorage for a predefined period of time are managed with thismodule. They can only be with-drawn after the specified time has elapsed.

Application example:The goods must be kept intemporary storage to harden, cooldown, etc., before they can bepassed on to production.


Inventory functionThe inventory function offers thepossibility of continuous stocktaking, i. e. all the storage loca-tions for an article must be checked physically at least once a year with respect to their con-tents and this information docu-mented.


Operations journal For the purpose of collectingoperating data, all the storage/retrieval operations, including thequantity, cost center, job number,storage locations, or freely defin-able data, can be recorded in the operations journal and printedout or sent to the host system.


Lending managementLending management is useful for the storage of articles that arenot consumables but are alwaysreturned to the lift. The lendingmanagement function asks theidentity of the person borrowingthe item and saves this.

The lending overview list showswhich articles have been borrow-ed, for how long, and by whom.

The article height is measured pre-cisely so that containers are storedin optimal packing density. Lightbarriers measure the height in pitches of 25 mm, 37.5 mm, 75 mm,90 mm or 125 mm.
