1 The Introvert’s Playbook Introduction In a socially-driven world that often gives overwhelming praise to extroversion, it can be difficult to find your place as an introvert. This rings especially true when you consider that among the general population, in 2012 it was last estimated that an astounding 50 – 75% i of people are in fact categorized as extroverts. It seems, it is in fact an extroverted world. But, what does that mean for an introvert? In living in an extroverted world, introverts are often left wondering just how it is that they can be accepted as more valued members of society, or, on a more pressing and basic level, simply cope with the day-to-day challenges that introversion presents. In its most basic sense, introversion is one of the major personality traits among the many theories of personality. Introverts are often defined as being inward-turning, that is, they tend to lean more toward internal thoughts, feelings and moods as opposed to seeking out external stimulation. They tend to be more quiet and reserved while also being more self-aware. This is both their strength and their challenge.
