Are you facing increased demand for Software-as-a-Service (SaaS)? Have you thought about moving to the cloud but been put off by complexity? Many software companies are still on the defensive, wondering how to make the cloud work for them.

What if you could turn the tables and make your software a force that creates solutions and guides your customers into the future? Now you can.

The Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) open and secure cloud solutions drive breakthrough innovation, enhance productivity and foster growth. You can benefit from outstanding infrastructure, services, security, and support, all delivered locally through an extensive partner ecosystem, to ensure legislative compliance.

Open up new markets, make your software more accessible and affordable, and bring your offers to the cloud, in a simple, cost-effective way.

Overcome the obstacles

The cloud has become more accessible for many companies, and numerous Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) now offer their software as a service. Cloud computing is an efficient and cost-effective model to deliver products as a service, and as an operational expense to customers.

However, many European companies, particularly banks and public sector organizations, are reluctant to host their data in the public cloud. And for regulatory reasons, they often demand that their data remains within their countries. These constraints narrow the choice of cloud service providers, and have discouraged some ISVs from going to the cloud.

Now you can master these challenges. We can help you respond to growing demands for SaaS, make your applications cloud and mobile-ready, comply with local legislations, and open up new markets.

The extensive network of HPE Partner Ready service providers operates on a country basis and will support you as you bring your applications to the cloud. They can help you comply with the new EU Data Protection Regulation, so you can reassure your information-sensitive SaaS customers that their data is close by.

Meet your customers’ needs

For software vendors, developing and maintaining data centres in house is complicated, expensive, and inflexible. The cloud provider needs to ensure capacity for growth and for peak consumption which is a drain on resources.

You can optimise your cloud offering by engaging a third-party service provider who has the resources and expertise to offer computing power and flawless service. That leaves you free to focus on what you do best: developing applications.

Supported by the HPE Partner Ready service providers, and the latest HPE technology that is right for your business, you can ensure the best customer experience.

Here are some fundamentals you should consider when selecting a cloud partner:

• Availability – Consistency of service is vital. End users expect their software to be available when they need it. Downtime for maintenance should be planned and scheduled.

• Security – Security has been one of the barriers to cloud computing. Customers want their data to be safe, and they demand uncompromising security policies and practices.

• Platforms and infrastructure uniformity – The hosting partner should offer servers and virtual infrastructure that run your operating system of choice. You will want to know about versions and roadmaps for upgrade planning. And you will need to ensure support for new and legacy environments.

Your environment should remain easy to manage, especially when working with several local service providers. Service level agreements should not vary with geography. You should strive for infrastructure uniformity so you can develop, test and maintain your applications in a single space.

• Data residency – Some companies, in the banking and public sectors in particular, are quite nervous about having their data in the cloud, and will be more comfortable knowing it’s nearby. Some customers will not want to be subject to the U.S. Patriot Act. And with the EU Data Protection Regulation, many companies will need to keep their customers’ data local. Another benefit of local hosting is the avoidance of latency. The closer the data, the quicker the service, especially when you need a high degree of processing. Your customers will also demand appropriate backup and recovery services.

• Scale – End-users will want the capability to scale—i.e. to increase software consumption for peak demand. Your service provider should be able to respond with agility. Customers may also expect the service to become more cost-effective with increased volume.
