• The JR. Guard program is a partnership between our Youth Service Center and the 1/623rd Kentucky Army National Guard. In Kentucky only 7 schools have this program.

• JR Guard members have special uniforms that they have to keep up with the whole year.

• At the end of the year the remaining members go to a FTX program where the closest programs meet and perform all that they have learned through out the year.

• JR Guard members have flag detail which is where the members put up the flag in the morning and take it down in the afternoon

• the members also meet on a certain day of the week and have a weekly meeting where one member will led the others in a variety of exercises

• every year some of the members go to local elementary schools and talk about the effects of drugs

• one day they go to the armory and listen to police as they explain why and how the use the drug dogs

JR Guard helps improve responsibility physical strength and helps make friends. This program improves physical strength by doing vigorous exercises such as push ups sit ups flutter kicks and the side straddle hop (jumping jacks). To help responsibility you have to keep up with a uniform and other objects such as a pen and a creed. This program helps students gain friends my having a weekly meeting and most students that go through this program gain friends by the end of the year.

• On the first day everybody meets together at a nearby armory and they get to go around and meet the people.

• On the second day we start to compete we wake up, put our uniforms on, eat breakfast, practice, compete, then we go to a park to eat our mre’s, then we go back to the armory, we look at our competition scores and present awards to our winners.

• On the third day we wake up, eat, and say our goodbyes.

• Every year we have a ceremony remembering our veterans and others that fought in war.

• Also we collect toys for Jarrett's joy cart which is a program where we collect toys and send them to a children's hospital.

• We have a commonwealth clean up day where we go around the armory and clean up the litter left behind by others.

• We also have a random acts of kindness week where for a week we practice using random acts of kindness like holding the door for strangers or helping somebody with their grocery bags.
