Kaley’s Corner

Kaley is 11 years old and in the 6th grade. Currently, she is a purple belt in Taekwondo and is at the half way point to her black belt! It’s been a busy and exciting year of travel, a new school, new friends, a new puppy and growing up.

The newest member of the Kelly family is Lilylu Blu! Lily was born on March 10th and joined the Kelly family on April 14th! She wasn’t quite 6 weeks old when they got her and she sure grew fast! She’s the sweetest and most amazing dog...unique in her own way. The Kelly’s are blessed to have another wonderful dog in their lives. As of December, Lily is 9 months old.

Kaley started middle school this year! Although her parents were a little nervous about the transition, Kaley is doing great both academically and socially. She made the Superior Honor Roll in the first semester!

Kaley had auditioned at the beginning of the year and was accepted into the drama magnet program at Southwood. In October, Kaley performed in the Lights Up Variety Show. She performed in a group number singing “I Feel Pretty” from West Side Story. She also performed a solo to the song “Tomorrow” from Annie. She was also one of a few 6th graders chosen to represent Southwood at the Thespian District Festival this past fall. For Spring Break this year, Kaley and Amy spent their time up in Central Florida. They stayed a couple of nights with Kaley’s grandparents up in The Villages and visited Homosassa Springs. They also spent one day at Legoland and another day at Hollywood Studios.

Spring Break in OrlandoMarch 10-13, 2012

This summer the girls had an amazing summer trip! They spent 8 days traveling and visited 2 states and Canada! They started their trip in Hershey, PA. From there they drove up to NY to visit family. The last three days were spent in Niagara Falls, where the girls had the most spectacular falls view room at the Tower Hotel. The night that they arrived was Amy’s 46th birthday & they had a special dinner up in the revolving dining room at the Skylon Tower! Pennsylvania, New York and Niagara Falls Summer VacationJuly 11-19, 2012

This year for fall, Amy visited her aunt in Ashburn, VA. They spent 3 days driving all around Virginia. The fall colors and weather were perfect again this year. The first day they visited Oatlands Plantation and Morven Park. On day two they visited the Humpback Bridge, the oldest bridge in Virginia and Falling Spring Falls waterfall. The third day they spent driving around Loudon County for the Fall Color driving tour, visiting farms, a winery and even a 100 year old country store! Virginia Fall WeekendOctober 18-22, 2012

5th Grade End of Year Class Trip to SeaWorld & Universal & Islands of Adventure Weekend JUNE 2012

Last June, Kaley’s 5th grade class went to SeaWorld for their end of year class trip. It rained most of the day, but the kids had a blast anyway. Amy didn’t go on the field trip, but she did drive up to retrieve Kaley before the bus headed back to Miami.

Kaley and Amy stayed up in Orlando for the weekend and met up with Amy’s sister, Crissy. The 3 girls had a blast and spent a sun filled day at Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. http://tinyurl.com/c5txpbb

Kaley’s mom entered a contest at The Falls to meet Coco Jones from the Disney Channel & WON! On Saturday, November 17th, Kaley & her mom were the first in line to have Coco sign an autograph! They also saw her perform in a free concert after the annual holiday parade! It was a very exciting day and a great kick off to their holidays!
