A Message from your
Lieutenant Governor
Hi Division 1B!
I hope your summer has been
splendiferous and that the next
two weeks will be a great
opening to a year of service
and school. Over the summer I
have attended International
Convention in Washington DC,
the 4H fair held by our division
and a board meeting with our
district board. As the school year approaches get
ready for tons of deadlines from teachers and Key
Club. I will be holding a few Officer Training Confer-
ences as well as Divisional Council Meetings over the
next few months so make your best efforts to attend.
Fall Rally and Fall Regional Training Conferences are
approaching quickly and I can’t wait to see everyone
exploring the parks and learning about service.
Yours in Caring and Service,
Cynthia Thurairajah

International Convention Day 1
After a bus ride full of cheering and selfies we ended up in
Washington DC. Our first stop was the Newseum. After a
break for dinner we attended a National’s Baseball Game.

International Convention
Day 2
Day two started off with a visit to the Arlington National Cem-
etery which had a very interesting “changing of the guards”
session where different districts placed wreaths by the tomb
of the unknown solider. We then packaged food with the
“Kids Against Hunger”. Finally that night we did a tiring, but
beautiful monument tour.
6
Day 3
We started the day with a tour of Ford’s Theater, and a Capi-
tol tour. After a really cool trip to the spy museum we did a
meet and greet with other districts at the hotel
7
Day 4
After a Key Club filled day of opening session and caucusing
with all the candidates for international positions we got to
take the night off and watch the Fourth of July fireworks by the
steps of the Lincoln monument

Days 5, 6, & 7
The last few days of ICON were filled with elections and
workshops as well as a trip to the Holocaust Museum.

This year is the first year I have ever been to, or partici-
pated in the 4-H Fair, and it was great! The 4-H fair is a
family- fun event, where you can see animals and cel-
ebrate summer, all while helping a good cause. Volun-
teering at the 4-H Fair was a blast; it was fun working
with other students from other schools and clubs to
help support 4-H. I met great new people, and came
together with some friends I haven’t seen in a while;
and I believe that is what the 4-h fair is meant to do, it
is meant to bring people together for a great time.
Therefore, I will be coming back next year, and the
many years to follow, because the memories that are
made there are priceless and I want to continue being
apart of them!
