George and Jerome got up early and retried to sleep in the morning but they could not do so. At the same time, George remembered what happened at Mrs. Gippings' house when he got up early in the morning. As the watch got stopped, George thought himself to be late.
While roaming on the road, he was thinking it to be about 9:00 but in fact, it was 3:00 in the morning. At the same time, a few cops came with suspicious looks. Any way, he returned home but he was not able to sleep.
After George’s story was completed, Jerome fell into a small water valley by mistake. Harris attempted to make a dish by the help of scrambled eggs but failed while doing so and proved himself to be a cook without skill of cooking.

Jerome remembered a historical event related to King John who was arrested by the Baron’s troops. As he had been arrested to sign the charter of England’s liberty, he was taken to Magna Charta.
All the three friends reached Magna Charta and after that they continued towards Picnic Point to Old Windsor Lock. Jerome was reminded by George of their first visit to Datchet while passing it. They had a tasteless lunch without mustard at Monkey Island.
Harris was injured while making a hole in the tin can. Ultimately, he flunked it into the river. They crossed Maidenhead and then the fishermen started cursing as they were knocked off. Anyway, they reached Marlow and decided to stay at “Crown”.
While returning from bath at Marlow, Montmorency had an encounter with a Tom cat. As Montmorency failed to create fear, he felt embarrassed. After having breakfast, the friends went for shopping to buy vegetables and other such things.
As they restarted the journey, they had trouble due to steam launches. They did not have enough water to drink so they had only one choice that they should drink river water but they did not do so as the water was not fit for drinking.

After leaving the steam launch, they sat on a meadow and all of a sudden Harris seemed to be missing. In fact, Harris slipped and fell in a small water valley. Ultimately, he blamed his friends to have done a conspiracy against him.
They once again started journey and passed by Wargrave and Shiplake. As they reached Sonning, while roaming, they reached one of the Shiplake islands. Then they decided to prepare Irish stew by the help of eggs, vegetables and other such eatables.
Montmorency saw a steaming kettle at the tea time. Taking it as a challenge, he grabbed it with his spout. It was so hot that Montmorency could not bear it and his nose seemed to have got burnt. After having dinner, George desired to play banjo but none wished him to do so as he was not good in playing music.
As Harris desired to take rest, Jerome and George decided to roam around Henley without him. When they returned, they found Harris drunk as he narrated an imaginative fighting story with a swan and next morning even he forgot about the swan.
They started remembering their past sailing experiences. George had never approached water till he was sixteen years old. Jerome narrated an incident related to a young man whose pole was fixed in the mud while punting.

Jerome, during his boyhood days, hired a boat for sailing with his friend. As the sail was wet, it was not easy to fix any way. Because of the strong wind, the boat got out of control and stuck in mud. Ultimately they were rescued by a fisherman.
They reached Reading, a historical place which was captured by Earls during the parliamentary struggle. As they sailed a little further, they could see the beauty of nature, vivid and picturesque. After some time, they saw the dead body of a woman who was cheated by her lover and she committed suicide leaving her orphan child all alone in the world.
After some time, all the friends decided to stay at Streatley, an ancient place and had lunch at “Bull.” They lived for 10 days at Streatley and attempted to wash their clothes but failed to do so because of dirty water. A prominent fishing centre was located near Goring and Streatley. According to Jerome, the fishermen had the habit of telling lies.
While roaming in an inn, Jerome and George saw a monstrous trout in a glass case. So many people claimed to have caught the trout but all were fake stories as the trout was made of plaster of paris. In fact, being curious, George climbed on a chair and tired to see it closely.
