THE KYEEMAGH CHRONICLE WEEK 5 TERM 1 25 February 2019 Principals Message Dear Parent/Carer Thank you to all of the parent who attended the P&C meeting last week. It is wonderful to see so many new faces and families being part of this wonderful group. The P&C executive for 2019 are: President: Jana (Leo 2/3W and Ari KN) Vice President: Heidi (Remi 2/3W) Adam (Keira KN) Secretary: Kerryn (Alex 2/3W and Matthew 1/2K) Treasurer: Imroze (Ayaan 2/3W) Uniform Officer: Donabel (Javier 2/3W) General committee: Emily (Adam KN), Louise (Liam 2/3W and Erin KN), Lisa (Elliot 2/3W and Emma 1/2K), Pam (Betty -Lee 1/2K), Glenn (Georgia 1/2K), Dina (Zachary 1/2K), Julia (Isabella KN), Jacqueline (Sophie KN). I have included the P&C newsletter which provides information of some events they have planned this term. Next week we have the STEPS program for Kindergarten students. Notes will be coming home tomorrow and will need to be returned by Thursday. Attached is information called Operation Art. This is an opportunity for students interested in visual arts. There are limited places and parents will be required to drop off and pick up students from the venue. This afternoon, I attended our local PSSA (Primary Schools Sports Association) meeting. Our local public schools compete in a local competition is several different sports including swimming, athletics and cross-country running. If your child is in Year 3 and swims competitively on the weekend, please speak with me regarding zone competition. Operation Art is coming to Cronulla Public School

We are holding full day visual arts workshops for students in Stages 1-3.

Presented by specialist teachers, workshops cover topic areas including painting, printing, drawing, mixed media and sculpture. Workshops are designed to extend skills and artmaking experiences beyond the classroom.

Stage 1 - (Year 1 & 2) – Monday 8 April 2019 Stage 2 - (Year 3 & 4) – Tuesday 9 April 2019 Stage 3 - (Year 5 & 6) – Wednesday 10 April 2019

HOW TO BOOK: 1. Parents visit the Arts Unit website to complete the online enrolment form to book a place

VENUE: Cronulla Public School 18-24 Burraneer Road, Cronulla NSW 2230 TIME: 9:00am – 2.30pm

SUPERVISION: Students are supervised by Operation Art tutors from the Department of Education. Teachers are not required to attend workshops.

Students participate in 3 workshops including mixed media, printmaking and sculpture. All materials provided.

Please arrive to collect your child at 2:30pm for a presentation of the day’s work WHAT TO BRING/WEAR:

Closed in shoes are required - wear comfortable art making clothing and paint shirt Ensure student name is marked on belongings & leave unnecessary valuables at home Bring carry bag to help take your artwork home Please bring recess and lunch. Do not bring food containing nuts.

Thank you to 2018 P&C Executive Huge thanks to the outgoing executive team; Louise Sheehy, Lisa Whinnen, Gina Moeke, Jana Kolouris, Caroline Foley, Dina Alexio, Glenn Green and Vicky Collins. They have made a remarkable contribution to our school, from smashing fundraising goals to organizing fantastic community events, all whilst championing the successful reclassification of our school to K - 6.
