The language certificates aim at certifying the level of proficiency in

foreign languages (English and German in our school). They are internationally recognized according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and can be used to access

scholarships, internships, job opportunities and further studies in

which competence in foreign languages is required.

Our school has been participating for twelve years now, with a fairly good

number of students who have achieved satisfactory results. Very few students

haven’t passed the exam so far.The examination centre is in Sondrio but

from time to time exam sessions are carried out at schools, including ours.

AUTUMN GAMES

The competition consists in a series of “Maths games” (for example problems, questions, posers with many difficult levels depending on the school that you attend) that students must solve within the time limit of 90 minutes. The competition takes place in every participating school, under the headmaster’s supervision and it is organized by Bocconi University in Milan. They are a good training for the “international championship” that follows.Categories: there are two different categories: C1 for students that attend the first and the second year of junior secondary schoolC2 for students that attend the third year of junior secondary school and the first year of secondary school

TRAINING BOOKS: There are a lot of books for training that comprehend tests and solutions of a hundred “games” given in the last competitions.

.

Every year our school selects two or three students in each class to take part in the Bocconi Games. In 2009 our students answered exactly all the twenty questions and achieved the eighth position (out of 130 participant

schools ) with the maximum score. In the same year some students in our school qualified to take part in the National Finals

TEAM COMPETITIONS ON THE INTERNET

SPRING GAMES

It is reserved to junior secondary schools which took part in the “Autumn Games” or to schools enrolling at least 20 students to the “INTERNATIONAL MATHEMATICAL GAME CHAMPIONSHIP”.

Admission is free and they are similar to the “Autumn Games”. They can serve as a training for the national finals or to organize competitions inside a class at school. The marking of this exam is entrusted to each school which possesses the solutions.

What are they? The Olympics of mathematics are a competition for secondary schools at an international level. Our school has taken part in this competition for

several years. They are meant for all the students in our school. Partecipation is optional and the number of

competitors changes every year. The first competition takes place in the school where participants for the

provincial competiton are chosen. The following step is the national competition. 12 students for the biennium and 18 for the triennium are chosen for the provincial

competition.Every year the competition finals take place in a different

country where the gold medals are declared. The primary aim of this competition is to arouse the

interest for mathematics among young people, giving them the opportunity to face problems which are bit different, in the form, from those tackled at school.

MATHEMATICS WITHOUT BORDERS

This competition is open to second and third classes of our school, which have always taken part in it since 2002. The test involves the whole

class that gives a single answer. The first question is always put in a foreign language and the answer

must be given in the same language. The questions are the same for all the participating

countries on the same day.

The work was done by: Elena Martocchi,Gessica Gibellini, and Katia Del Curto.

The initiative is divided into two phases:

1.      Welcome competition: it was held in our school on return after Christmas holidays and it was useful to let students

understand how to manage the whole class and times.

2.      The teachers of each class corrected the tests and gave all the necessary information for the official competition.

The papers of the official competition must be shipped anonymously to "Mosè Bianchi" School in Monza, or the team is

excluded from the games. In May the winning class will participate in the final competition for the proclamation of the winners at the

Motor Racing Circuit in Monza.
