Mega Ice Welcomes the World! Play in the LARGEST Ice Hockey Tournament in Asia that features competitive and recreational Clubs or Teams from around the world. The event has been held over 10 years. Feel the excitement of playing your favorite sport in Hong Kong, known as Asia’s World City for the shopping, fine dining, sight-seeing, night life and much more. The Hockey 5’s has also received special recognition from Brand Hong Kong since 2012.

Youth Divisions - II

1. Date of Birth will be strictly enforced – NO EXCEPTIONS.

2. The A & B Divisions may be combined – A Minimum of 3 teams are required in each division

3. Players are NOT allowed to play in both A & B divisions of the same age group.

4. Players are NOT allowed to play in both Youth and Adult Divisions.

5. Teams in the A divisions will have majority of the prime time schedule.

6. Teams are only allowed a maximum of 5 players that are under the age requirement (with no more than 12 months difference for each player).

7. All players are restricted to wear full mask and neck guard All players are also recommended to wear month guard.

8. All players must bring a valid passport or identification in order to receive their Player ID passes.

9. Player ID passes MUST accompany the player and will be checked prior to EACH game. Players without ID passes will NOT be allowed to play.

Adult Divisions - II

1. 5 on 5 Play - (5 players plus a goalie)

2. 3 minutes of Warm-Up

3. 3 periods of 12 minutes (30 seconds between periods)

4. 3 periods of 13 minutes for International Elite /A Division only

5. Games may start 10 minutes before the scheduled times

Important Notes:

1. Games are running time. There will be stop time if the score is within 2 goals or tied in the

final 2 minutes of the 3rd period.

2. Round robin games - No overtime if games are tied after regulation.

2018 Hockey 5's – Game Format (Cont'd)

3. During playoffs, if the score is tied after regulation time, a 5 minute sudden death overtime

will be played 4 on 4.

4. If still tied after overtime, a 3 player shootout will take place. If still tied after the 3rd

shooter, teams will alternate shots until a winner is decided.

5. For Championship Games – a second 5 minute sudden death overtime period will be

played, followed by a 3 player shootout (if needed).

6. Each team is allowed one - 30 second time-out in all games.

7. Teams are advised to have matching socks and a dark and light set of jerseys. In case of a

colour clash, organizers will determine which team will change.

8. Team Standings will be based on - Most Points, Most Wins, Head to Head (based on 2

teams only), Fewest Goals Against, Fewest Penalty Minutes, Greater Goal Difference,

follow by a puck toss.

3. Youth Division – Local Team first game may start on 22nd April 2018 (Sunday).

Frequently Asked Questions - FAQs

Q1. How do I know which division will best suite my team / club?

The Organizers will suggest the right division for your team based on the experience of your team.

Additional information about participation in the previous tournaments would be useful. Videos of your

team playing would be helpful.

Q2. How is the Ice Surface?

The Ice Surface is one of the best in Asia. The rink measures 57m X 26m.

Q3. What about hotel accommodations?

The Organizers can assist in helping your team find a suitable hotel.

Q4. When does the tournament start?

Youth Divisions – 23thApril 2018 and Adult Divisions – 30th April 2018.

Q5. How many games can we expect to play in a day?

Teams that can arrive early in the week will have an enjoyable schedule of playing 1-2 games a day and

still have ample time to explore the city. Teams that cannot come until later in the week can expect to

play more games each day.

Q6. What if there are not enough teams in my division?

The organizers at their consideration may choose to consolidate your division with another division.

Q7. What is the Refund Policy?

There are NO refunds on accepted applications – Sorry.

Q8. Can we pay after the Final deadline date?

No – payments must be received on or before the deadline

Q9. When should we submit the team roster and other information?

All team/club should submit their team information (including photo, roster, logo and player photo)

when they submit the application form. (i.e. No later than 23rd March 2018)

Q9. (NEW) Can we update the team information / roster after the application deadline?

Yes. The final roster to be on tournament should be confirmed no later than 6th April 2018 .

Administrative Fee (US$26/HK$200 per each edit) may apply after the deadline. However, the

roster printed on tournament brochure will only used the latest version submitted before 23rd

March 2018.

Q10. How do I know if the application is accepted?

Upon online payment, a payment acknowledgement email will be sent to teams that settle their

payment. However, please note that it does not indicate the acceptance of the application. All

successful team/club will receive a confirmation email from Mega Ice Hockey team separately,

[email protected], as to confirm final acceptance of the team(s) no later than 12th March

2018.

Q11. Can we reserve a spot by email?

NO - All applications must be accompanied with payment. Applications will then be processed.

Q12. What times will my team be expected to play?

The teams in the ‘A’ Divisions will have majority of the prime time slots. The ‘B’ Division

teams will play mostly play early morning or late evenings.

Q13. Will there be skate sharpening or a Pro-Shop available for our team to purchase equipment?

Yes. There will be a skate sharpening in the rink and a Pro-Shop at the mall.

Q14. Are there showers?

Yes. There will be shower facilities at the rink.

Q15. What about locker rooms and storage?

Yes - there will be tents set up for teams to change. We will also assign areas where teams can

safely leave their gear if needed.

Q16. Will there be photos and videos at the tournament to purchase?

Yes – in fact each team will be given access to all the tournament photographs. There will be a

video crew for this event to film the Finals of each division.

Q17. What if we require additional t-shirts, caps and dinner tickets?

Additional items can be purchased at a special discount if ordered and paid for prior to 23rd

March. Any purchases after 23rd March will be at the regular prices set for all tournament items.

Q18. When will the schedule be out?

On or before 16th April 2018
