“Amazing!”, “Wonderful!”, “Successful!”

Those are just a few of the words used to describe

the Leo activities that spanned across the weekend

of December 8—9, 2012.

Leos from Regions 1 and 4 collaborated in an

effort to make this year’s event a success.

Clarendon Leos spent over three (3) months plan-

ning and working to ensure that this year’s Leo

Weekend activities would be well executed and the

results were a successful outreach project, an en-

tertaining social, an inspirational Church Service

and a productive meeting to end the weekend’s

festivities

“We planned and we executed. Leo Weekend was

a success because we had a great turn out in

Chapelton and the weekend was well supported,”

said Leo Romayne Bell, Membership Chairperson

of the Leo Club of Clarendon .

On a Mission for Better Vision

A member of the Canadian Vision Care (CVC) team

conducts an eye examination on November 15, 2012 at

The Lions Clubs International Association

prides itself on a very active and well-

established vision care system and the Lions

Club of Clarendon continues to live up to its

obligation of serving others through its Sight

and Health Committee.

During the months of October and Novem-

ber, the Leo Club of Clarendon assisted with

four (4) vision care projects.

“The experience was really amazing as this

was the first sight project I’ve been a part of

since being a member. I got the opportunity to

assist others in a relatable way because I too

experience eye problems. It was a great feel-

ing being able to give meaningful service to

others.”

That was said by Leo Karel Green who was

one of four Leos who assisted the Lions and

the Canadian Vision Care (CVC) team, No-

vember 15-16, 2012.

themselves while increasing our visibility in

the community.

The Leo Movement is an exciting one, not-

withstanding our importance as young, service

-minded individuals who share a common

goal.

“A family in

harmony will prosper

in everything.”

Jim Rohn: “Discipline is

the bridge between goals.”

and accomplishments.

Inspirational

Insight

It is a great quote to be shared with everyone because I

firmly believe that harmony plays an essential role in both

the family and society.

It is an honour to share my thoughts, because harmony is

one of the key ingredients in the recipe for a success fam-

ily.

I am proud and delighted to say that our Leo Club has

struck a harmonic balance with work and fellowship in

order to operate as a family, and it shows whenever we

work together as a team to accomplish our goals.

We started the year with very little support. We were

few in numbers, but we all had high hopes and expecta-

tions. We all shared one common goal – and that was to

renew and re-strengthen the Leo Club of Clarendon. In-

deed, as the Phoenix rises from the ashes, so too has our

club arisen in the last six months. Like the Phoenix, the

Leo Club of Clarendon will live on, continuously recreat-

ing itself through the vision and dedication of committed

and ambitious club members.

On behalf the members of the club, I would like to ex-

press sincere appreciation to the Lions Club, which has

been supporting and guiding us since our rebirth. We

have successfully maintained a positive relationship with

the Lions, and we can only expect great things with con-

tinued support of each other’s objectives.

I can proudly say that the Leo Club of Clarendon

has begun to attract more service-minded and ambitious

individuals who will be beneficial to the club’s sustainabil-

ity efforts. I must also commend the hardworking team of

Leos who have played a major role in rebranding and

maintaining the image of the Leo Club of Clarendon.

The club was not without its challenges, but, we managed

to overcome them with our determined spirit. I can boast

a club filled with ambitious and creative individuals who

will brave the scorching sun and pouring rain for the sake

of improving the lives of others.

As we reflect on the last quarter and approach a new

year, I wish to implore you all to remember the meaning

of LEO – Leadership, Experience, Opportunity. Lead with

understanding, Experience the joy of helping and leading

others and enjoy the countless Opportunities that will

unfold as we work together in harmony to serve.

Special thanks to my family of hardworking Leos who

have committed themselves fully to service and have

vowed to work towards another successful and memora-

ble quarter.

I wish for you all a holy and peaceful Christmas and a suc-

cessful 2013.

It was an amazing two days of fun filled LEO activities,

bringing out the whole meaning of L.E.O. The coming together and working

as a team showed how strong the movement can be. Though the social, church ser-

vice, and meeting were great, the one that stood out was the project at the St.

Augustine Boy’s Home in Chapleton. I must say I was happy to have been a part of

making a difference in their lives, if it was even to take off my shoes and plant toma-

toes in the mud.

The weekend was one I would spend again, meeting new people and having fun.

Hats off to the Clarendon Leos who, through hard work and dedication, along with

those other Leos, made the weekend a success.

Leo President, Brittania Rodney

Leo weekend was amazing! As soon as I entered the parish I could feel the LEO spirit working. I

really loved the project at the boys home, the social was a great one , the church service

was AMAZING!!! I felt so blessed.

LEO WEEKEND SELL OFF and thanks to the LEOS OF

CLARENDON for hosting ONE OF THE BEST I HAVE SEEN

IN A LONG TIME! I could feel the team working to ensure

that I was hosted well, met some new friends, linked the old

ones and the bond from the weekend was just so strong!!!!

Can I request that Clarendon host it again?

Oh and did I say NUFF FOOD? Yep had to say it. On behalf

of the Leo Club Of Kingston board of directors, members &

the LEO TV team we would like to say a special thank you!!

Leo President, Allan Carter

The Leo Weekend, of December 8-9, 2012, hosted by the Leo Club of Clarendon was a

successful one. The Clarendon Leo Club did a great job in planning and organizing the events

scheduled for the weekend.

Though I was not able to attend all events, the ones I were present for, were appropriately

arranged which allowed for a timely completion. The project held at the St. Augustine Boys

Home, where we painted two classrooms, was executed quickly due to the many clubs that

participated. The project didn’t seem like work as the Leos were interacting and having fun.

The meeting was good overall. The icebreaker, Leo Competition and Tailtwisting made the

meeting more enjoyable as it gave us a break from just reading reports, minutes and usual

meeting matters.

The Leo Club of St. Andrew Central would like to note that we admire the effort the Leo

Club of Clarendon and all clubs put into making the Leo Weekend a success.

Lions and Leos Spread Christmas Cheer

Approximately 235 children left the

Lions Club House smiling after

being presented with toys and to-

kens from the Lions Club of Clar-

endon on Saturday, December 15,

2012.

Community Outreach Chairperson,

Lion Pat said that the Christmas

Treat was a “tremendous success.

Commenting on the re-

sults of the afternoon, she

explained that the club

did not anticipate so

many children, but her

team successfully pulled

off the project despite

their limitations.

“It’s always the warmth

and the satisfaction from

seeing the children’s reaction—touching

you, hugging you and saying thanks that

makes the hard work worthwhile.”

The Leos once again came on board to

offer a helping hand with serving and es-

corting children.

The major sponsors of the event were

also present and assisted with handing

out gifts to the children.

Sponsors of the event include: Jamaica

National Building Society, Cable and

Wireless Jamaica Co-op Credit Union,

Food For the Poor, First Caribbean

Bank, Juici Patties and JMMB.

Lion Pat said that first time sponsors,

Jamaica National, was really impressed

with the outcome of the project and

has already pledged their support to

next year’s Christmas Treat.

Leo Romayne advised

leos who are presently studying at univer-

sity to remember that school comes first,

but also encouraged them to find a balance

in order to keep the club activities flowing.

“School work comes first! But, if you can

run in on a few socials or meetings, do so

as time allows you too.” - Leo Romayne
