I’m knocking on wood right now. Why is that you ask? Because I am currently
the lone resident of the parsonage who does not have, THE FIRST HEAD
COLD OF SCHOOL! In case you’re wondering, I can hear that last phrase in
the inimitable voice of Vincent Price…with the cackle that inevitably follows.
As I said, I am knocking on wood…furiously.
The odd thing is, as sick as everyone feels, there is still laughter that is emanat-
ing from the living room. The reason? Austin is watching an older movie that
very few people went to see that is based on a popular amusement park ride and
he is cracking up like it’s the funniest…thing…ever! I mean his whole body is
shaking sort of laughing and as everyone else watches him lose it, we start to
lose it and before you know it, a room that has a whole lot of people who really
don’t feel all that good (still knocking) is smiling broadly, you know, in between
nose blows.
Difficulties happen...a lot. Of that we can all agree.
And I also firmly believe that even in the midst of those incredibly dark difficul-
ties, points of light are still able to radiate forth. They may be hard to locate, let
alone hold on to…but they are there.
My question is this: what will you look for? Not what do you see, but what will
you look for? Look for the light, especially when the difficulties have become
the backdrop for everything else that is moving in the foreground, look for the
light. God is in the midst of the light and that light, regardless of how fleeting it
may seem to be, is an affirmation of God’s presence that is always there. Look
for the light, and if/when you can’t find it, keep looking! It’s there. Find your
point of light.
With Love in Christ,
Pastor Ryan

We still have an opportunity this year to support Family Prom-ise. Wednesday, November 21st, & Thursday November 22nd, on each night, 2 volunteers host a supper from 5-8pm. Sleepo-ver is from 8pm to 7am.
Call me with questions or to sign up. Marlyn Reuter, 908-996-2851 [email protected]
Adults Bible Study The Sunday Adults group is discussing “Questions God Asks”. Using verses from scripture in which God asks the questions, we explore the timelessness of God’s invitation to be in communication and relationship with Him. As always, regu-lars, occasionals, visitors and first-timers are all welcome to join us in the parlor at 9:00 a.m. If you can’t make our sessions on Sundays, you can still follow this theme in Words of Hope for the first half of October.
Ladies Tea
You are invited to a Ladies’ Tea on Sunday, Octo-ber 14th at noon in the Fellowship Hall at Three Bridges Re-formed Church. Please RSVP by Sun. 10/7 to Joanne (908)782-0695 or Renee (908) 229-8490
Music and More Music & More is a program created for children in grades one
thru six. It is a great opportunity for kids to learn music and
participate in fun and meaningful activities. This program is
open to the community as well as church members. The pro-
gram started on September 17th, but there is still room if you
want to join. For more information please contact Sue Newborn
908-528-1028. The registration form is on page 5 of this Life-
line.
Stewardship & Finance Along with your other October 7 offering envelopes you will find one for the quarterly Classis Assessment contribu-tion. Please try to remember this essential piece of stewardship in addition to your regular offering. Thanks to a great effort from everyone, we raised about $9,000 from these special enve-lopes towards our Classis Assessment of over $13,000 for the last fiscal year.
Cheerful Chimers Cheerful Chimers is beginning on Sunday, October 7th from noon until 12:30. This group is for people 7th grade through adult. No experience is necessary. Ordination of Consistory Members On Sunday, September 9th, Elders, Scott Beers and Fiona Brad-shaw as well as Deacons - April Ambio and Sally Markert were ordained and installed. Please keep them in your prayers as they begin this important journey of service.
Loungers for Family Promise Emma Riebe, working on her Silver Girl Scout Award, helped members of the congregation make lounge pads for the children in Family Promise.
