My Life Before Birth
20 Weeks “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you” Jeremiah 1:5 “Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, I love you very much. I ask you to protect the life of the unborn child I have spiritually adopted who might be in danger of abortion.” Bishop Fulton J. Sheen

Dear Friends in Christ, I am now 5 months old! Here are some of the most amazing events in my growth and development: My head is about the size of a tennis ball My inner ear, called the cochlea, is already fully developed and the size of an adult’s. I can hear and respond to sounds All my skin layers and structures are complete My eyelids are separated and my eyes can open and close My feet are now 20 times bigger than they were at 7 weeks My heart has beat more than 27 million times so far I’m about 11 inches tall and weigh about one pound If I were born prematurely this week my survival rate can be as high as 40% in very specialized centers! Thank you for all your prayers! Info: The Endowment for Human Development, www.ehd.org Photo: Life Issues Institute

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
Dear Light of Christ Catholic Collaborative, Today’s Gospel reminds me of a story that comes from a book called Tales of the Magic Monastery. The story tells of a young restless monk who moves from monastery to monastery. At one of the monastery's an older monk challenges him; “What are you looking for?” The young monk answers; “I am looking for the pearl of great price.” The old monk replies hold out your hand, the old monk carefully reaches down the sleeve of his robes and places the pearl of great price in the young monks hand. The young monk says “You can’t just give this to me!” and the older monk replies; “When you have the pearl of great prices is it better to keep it or give it away.” Each and every week we are nourished by Him who loves us Jesus Christ. What does He ask of us; to share our love and His love. Where? Everywhere With who? With everyone. Christ has already bought the pearl of great price, at the last supper, on Calvary, and that empty tomb where the stone had been rolled away. While we are called to share it everywhere and with everyone we need not look that far; most of us see opportunities in our families, in our schools, in our workplaces and in our parishes. The following words were written by the Ragamuffin Saint We are light people. We are grace and truth people. We are hope people. We are mercy people. We are love people. We are joy people. We are peace, patience, and kindness people. We are goodness people. We are cross people. We are redemption people. We are resurrection people. We are Easter people all year round. We are holy people. Walk humbly with your God people. We are prayer people. We are prophetic people. We are revelation people. We are visionary people. We are spread the Gospel people. Share the good news people. We are blessing people. We are strength and power people. Thanksgiving, praise, and honor people. We are King of Glory people. Lamb of God people. Bread of life people. Living waters people. We're light of the world people. Hope of glory people.
We are Jesus people. We live and move and have our being in Him people. We can do all things through Christ people. Fr. Michael Zimmerman has been very busy putting on programs for us this summer. Please see the bulletin to learn more about the Pilgrimage to the National Shrine of Divine Mercy on Thursday, August 10th. Spaces are filling up FAST! Once the air-conditioned Motor Coach is filled, no more registrations will be accepted. He is also leading Youth Events. For boys and girls 13 years of age and older, shoot some hoops and hang out on Sunday Evenings from 7:30 to 9PM in the Cardinal Spellman Center at Holy Ghost on: 7/30, 8/6, 8/13, 8/20. For kids from 3-18 years of age, come on Saturdays for a “Youth Drop In” at St. Bridget’s Hall and School from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturdays: 8/5, 8/12, 8/19. He is also offering Sunday Readings Bible Study for adults of all ages. Pray with Fr. Michael and fellow parishioners over the Scripture readings for the next Sunday's Mass on Mondays from 7:00 to -8:00 PM at Fr. Glennon Hall at Holy Ghost on: 7/31, 8/7, 8/14. Lastly, Fr. Michael will be hosting a Catholic Trivia Night on Thursday, August 17th. Details to this Trivia Night will be given in the weeks to come. Let us pray for each other. God bless, Father Tom Stanton
