Correct Sports ShoesThe semester-grace period for wearing fluoro shoes finishes at the end of this Term. Shoes for sport must be a sports shoe (runners, joggers). Surf, skate, walk or casual shoes (“vans” or “converse”) are not acceptable and canvas shoes are a safety concern when playing sport and must not be worn. Students will be permitted to wear a sports shoe that meet the following criteria:• Thecolouronthebulkoftheshoemustnotbeentirelyfluorescent• Fluoro highlights only are allowed• Black, white, grey, pale colour sport shoes are acceptable• The shoe laces must match the colour of the shoe, no multi colours or bright contrasting colours

Daffodil Day 2014Watkins House will be fundraising for Daffodil Day again in Term 3. Funds raised on Daffodil Day support the Cancer Council for much needed research and also for the provision of support services for those living with cancer. Daffodil Day symbolises hope for those affected by cancer and is the main fundraising drive for the Cancer Council for the year. St Mark’s has a history of outstanding community support for this very worthy cause and Watkins House will again be leading the Daffodil Day fundraising this year. Daffodil Day will be on 22 August and you will receive details on how to order fresh daffodils or to buy merchandise at the beginning of Term 3. As per last year the fresh daffodils will be $7 per bunch. We look forward to your support!

Moyes’ Club:RedA single blood donation, when separated into its components, can help at least 3 different patients and contribute to making up to 22 different products.St Mark’s is now part of the Club:Red and has had several of its community members donate blood under the St Mark’s name. So far we have saved 30 lives! If you already donate blood, or would like to donate blood under the St Mark’s name for the first time, please contact Peter Pooley at the school by email: [email protected] next official time donating blood is two week block from Monday 11 August to Friday 22 August – but any time will be great.

Parent Portal: What goes in the Comments column? The “Comments” column is used when additional information is needed to outline an activity, but it is an optional field. Please keep entries short – one or two words at the most. If you are adding in your hours from General Meetings, Uniform Shop and Canteen help, there is no need to provide detailed explanations in the Comments column. The best use of the Comments column is for activities that fall under a very broad umbrella and may need some explanation. For example, if you helped out by growing 1000 plants for the Plant Stall, you don’t need to write in all the detail. All you would need to do is select “Fete” under Involvement and then in the Comments, just write “Plant Stall”. Short and sweet is the best option. If you receive an error message similar to message “Unable to create a new record for the following reasons: An unknown error has occurred during the processing of the update” then it is possible that you have entered too much information in the Comments column.Still experiencing problems? Email [email protected].
