FOURTH SUNDAY OF EASTER

The merciful love of the Lord fills the earth; by the word of the Lord the heavens were made, alleluia. - cf. Psalm 33:5-6

IN OUR PARISH

We Are Friends was awarded a grant in the amount of $4,000 from South Central Power Company, designated toward the purchase of mattresses/box springs for those in need. We thank South Central for their generosity.

I am the good shepherd, says the Lord; I know my sheep, and mine know me. - John 10:14 Offertory Donations: There are several ways to make your regular donation to our church: 1) You can mail your donation to us. 2) You may drop your collection into the locked wooden box on the back porch of the rectory. 3) You can go through Tithe.ly. To access Tithe.ly, go to our webpage (stjohnlogan.com), scroll down to the ‘Online Collection’ area, and click on the bright green “GIVE” button. Then, follow the instructions provided. If using your cell phone, go to the app store in search of Tithe.ly, download the app and follow directions. Thank you for continuing to support our church during this time.

IN OUR DIOCESE

Re-consecration of our Country to Mary: The month of May is traditionally set aside to honor the special role of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the life of the Church. In light of the global pandemic sweeping our world, the month will begin in a very special way. The Bishops of the United States in conjunction with the Bishops of Canada have

made a collaborative decision to re-consecrate both countries to the intercession and protection of Our Lady under the title of Mary, Mother of the Church on Friday, May 1st at 3 PM EDT. As Archbishop Gomez, the President of the USCCB noted "This will give the Church the occasion to pray for Our Lady’s continued protection of the vulnerable, healing of the unwell, and wisdom for those who work to cure this terrible virus." This event will be aired live on the EWTN Television Network (check listings for appropriate cable channel), the EWTN Facebook page, or on St. Gabriel Radio, (AM 820, Columbus; FM 88.3 Portsmouth). The Good Shepherd has risen, who laid down his life for his sheep and willingly died for his flock, alleluia.

Mass & Reconciliation

Good afternoon everyone, You may have seen or heard about the announcement made by the Bishop of Ohio on Mass. We will continue with not celebrating Mass as a community until May 30/31, the Feast of Pentecost. During this month, the Bishops and all priests are working on the method to restart celebrating Mass with all the proper guidelines being respected and the care of people and their health as the center of all we do. Another part of this activity is the need for Reconciliation. Bishop Brennan has met virtually about Reconciliation. It was decided to allow Reconciliation with very specific rules. All people wishing to celebrate Reconciliation must first call and make an appointment. Once scheduled, the person will have approximately 5 minutes to confess, receive penance and absolution. During this appointment, a face covering must be worn and the person must check their temperature before coming to the appointment; if it is 100.4 degrees or higher, please do not come. The place for Reconciliation will occur in a setting where the minimum of 6 (six) feet of social distancing must be kept. For the St. John community, the appointment may be made by calling 740-385-2549, ext. 2. The days for Reconciliation will be Wednesday mornings from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon and Friday evenings 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The first day will be Wednesday, May 6. The Office Conference Room is where Reconciliation will take place. There will a member of the Knights of Columbus at the door of the room to assist your entrance and another in the parking area with written directions and an Examination of Conscience for you to use. Please take these home with you. As more information comes available, I will make it known to you. Peace and God Bless, Fr. Steve Krile
