The Palette The Los Gatos Art Associa/on Newsle4er Letter from the President, Jane Loomis LGAA’s general meetings are now taking place online the second Sunday of every month at 4 pm via Zoom, as the doors to our meeting place are still closed. Health advisories change often, so check our website lgaa.org for the most recent information. MEETING DATES: July 12, August 9 at 4:00 pm The format for the meetings includes 1) the raffle for the most recent month’s Instagram Gallery entrants, 2) member sharing news and art on-screen (optional), followed by 3) a short educational art video. Meetings run approximately one hour. SHOWS: Thus far our two scheduled 2020 spring/summer shows have been cancelled due to the virus. There’s a strong possibility the Fall Members’ Juried Show scheduled for November might follow suit. We are exploring the possibility of holding the show online and will keep you posted with any news that develops to give you plenty of time to prepare. From Los Gatos take CA-17 S to Los Gatos-Saratoga Rd (Hwy 9) exit, drive to Saratoga. Turn left onto Saratoga Ave/Big Basin Way (Hwy 9.) Follow Hwy 9 toward Skyline Blvd (Rt. 35). Go approx. 3 miles past the stop sign at Rt. 35 inter-section. Parking lot is on left side of road. Restroom, picnic table, great views. Map

From Los Gatos, take CA-85 S toward Gilroy, go 4.6 mi. Take Almaden Expwy exit. Turn left onto Almaden Plaza Way, go 410 ft. Turn right onto Almaden Expwy, go 4.2 mi Turn right onto Almaden Rd, go 2.9 mi. Destination on the right. Restrooms. Map

From CA-85 head south on 17 toward Los Gatos. Take East Los Gatos exit, merge onto Saratoga-Los Gatos Rd. Turn left on Los Gatos Blvd (go north). Take the third right onto Kennedy Road. Drive just over two miles to destination on left. Park in lot next to driveway. Map (paint out only, exhibition in 2021)

August 3: Alum Rock Park, San Jose August 10: Bernal-Gulnac-Joice Ranch, San JoseFrom Los Gatos, take CA-85 S to CA-87 N, then take Exit 5 for I-280 S/ I-680 N. Go 2.4 mi, take McKee Rd exit follow signs for McKee Rd E. Go left on Toyon Ave, .09 mi, turn rt. on Penitencia Creek Rd, turn left onto Alum Rock Falls Rd. go to last parking lot. No fee. Limited parking and restroom facilities. Bring own water. Map

Turn left to stay on Embarcadero Rd, 0.5mi. Pass duck pond and parking lot, go to end of the road parking lot. Restrooms are open, but all benches and water fountains remain closed. Bring own water. From Los Gatos take CA-85 S to Almaden Expy, go N about 4 mi. Turn right onto W Alma Ave, go 1.1 mi. Turn left onto Senter Rd, entrance 105 ft. Open restroom located outside the East gate of the garden. Parking is free because the pay machine is missing and no one is at the booth. Most of the ponds in the garden are empty save one small koi pond. Map

Annie Haines was accepted as a new exhibiting watercolor artist at Gallery 24 in Los Gatos. Annie is the co-chair of LGAA’s Plein Air Group, and her artwork includes nature, garden, urban, and interior scenes. https://www.lggallery24.org/

Ni Zhu’s oil painting, Under the Shade Sails No.2 was awarded First Place in the Landscape category of the 37th Artist Magazine Annual Art Competition and will be featured in the Jan/Feb 2021 issue of Artist Magazine.
