the lunar cycle and the weekly cycle do not coincide
DESCRIPTION
This document examines the Lunar Sabbath Doctrine. The Lunar Sabbath doctrine basically teaches that the Scriptural weekly cycle should be in sync with the moon’s cycle and that each quarter of the moon is when the seventh day Sabbath takes place, instead of on Saturday. This document examines that idea and finds many places in Scripture where the seventh day Sabbath did not occur at the four quarters of the moon’s cycle.TRANSCRIPT

Although they can to make me feel like I shouldn’t attempt to put a document together and offer it to others
Because of my inability to perfectly form sentence structures and paragraphs some will use my editing skills against
me. Nonetheless, I have done the best I can do. There are some who have made the statement that they rarely have a
problem understanding what my points are. Nevertheless, it is my prayer Yahweh gives me the ability to express to
you what I understand to be true whether you agree with it or not, and if you find errors in grammar or punctuation
and wish to point it out I will appreciate it and will take no offence to you doing so. Any help I receive is

viewpoint of this work I would appreciate your input on that too, or if it turns out that you are critical of this work
then constructive criticism is encouraged. I am not of the opinion that there is nothing that I have overlooked or

Furthermore, although it has been stated that I over explain some things, I believe an under-explanation is

Scriptural Quote Notations:
Scriptural quotes:
In general Scriptural quotes come from the electronic software, e-sword. The 1769 King James Version of the Holy
Bible (also known as the Authorized Version) was used (KJV) for the English translation, unless otherwise noted.
This same version can be used with Strong’s Numbers and is the version used when the Strong’s Numbers are
included within the text. The software for this electronic version can be downloaded for free at e-sword.net. At this
website there are multiple electronic books that can be downloaded for free: Bibles, Commentaries, Dictionaries,
Graphics, Historical books and more.
All praise is given to Yahweh for making all of these tools available to his people and to the world so the knowledge
of his being can be better understood.
When coming across the word, Jehovah, in Scriptural quotes, Yahweh was used instead.
Jehovah is an improper transliteration of our heavenly father’s name, Yahweh. Therefore, Yahweh is used
throughout this study, and the Scriptural quotes that are quoted in this work where the improper name Jehovah has
been used, or where God, GOD, LORD and Lord have been rendered in place of his name, his proper name, Yahweh,
has been restored in those quotes.
When coming across the word, Jesus, in Scriptural quotes, Yahushua was used instead.
Jesus is an improper transliteration of our savior’s name, Yahushua. Therefore, Yahushua is used throughout this
study and the Scriptural quotes that are quoted in this work where the improper name Jesus has been used his proper
name, Yahushua, has been restored in those quotes.
When coming across the word, God, in Scriptural quotes, Elohim was used instead.
God is a poor translation of the Hebrew word, Elohim. Elohim has a singular-plural meaning rather than simply
being singular like the word God. Like the word family is one (singular), but it is one as in a unit (plural), the same
is true of the word Elohim. However, the word God does not carry across that same meaning and therefore is a poor
translation of the word Elohim. Therefore, for a better rendition of the original word, Elohim, it has been restored
throughout this study and in the Scriptural quotes where the word God was translated from the word, Elohim.
Other words that were not directly quoted as found in the King James Version:
Within the Scriptural quotes words such as: Messiah, stake, and impaled were used instead of: Christ, cross, and
crucified, because of personal preference. The use of these words would not change the context of any verse of
Scripture quoted.

The Purpose Of This Article
Among some there is a belief that today’s weekly cycle (Sunday – Saturday) does not parallel the Scriptural
weekly cycle. Thus, it is reasoned that the Saturday Sabbath that is observed today as the weekly Sabbath is not in
accordance to the Scriptural weekly Sabbath, and Sunday is not the first day of the Scriptural week. We are told
about a time when one “shall speak great words against the most high, and shall wear out the saints of the most
high, and think to change times and laws…” (Dan. 7:25). Could the weekly cycle be a part of the “times” that this
passage is referring to?
While it is evident that our world today does not recognize Scriptural time from the observance of our savior’s
resurrection being placed in the 3rd
or 4th
month of the year (March/April), which equates to the 1st Scriptural month,
but could it also be true that the weekly cycle (Sunday – Saturday) that is observed by much of the world isn’t the
same weekly cycle found in Scripture? Could it be true that the one who shall speak great words against the most
high [has worn] out the saints of the most high and [has changed] times and laws, which includes the weekly cycle?
In 1 John 4:1 we are admonished to “try the spirits whether they are of Yahweh: because many false prophets
are gone out into the world.” Thus, because we are warned in Scripture that one will come who will “think to change
times and laws” (Dan. 7:25) it behooves us to take the time to see if the one who says that the Scriptural weekly
cycle should be set according to the lunar cycle rather than how the world observes it is correct. Because it is clear
that the months which the world observes as months do not parallel the Scriptural months I think it is fair to say that
the way the world observes the weekly cycle could be incorrect too.
In the thesis that says the weekly cycle should be set according to the lunar cycle there are at least two schools
of thought. One school of thought is that the weekly Sabbaths always land on these days in the lunar cycle: the 7th
,
14th
, 21st, and 28
th. Another school of thought says that the weekly Sabbaths always land on these days in the lunar
cycle: the 8th
, 15th
, 22nd
, and 29th
. In both schools of thought the new moon day also is to be observed as a Sabbath.
With this information it is not necessary to rebut every point of reasoning that they give in order to prove that
their thesis is wrong because it is evident from Scripture that not every weekly Sabbath that was observed ended up
being on one of the dates that Lunar Sabbath advocates list as being a Sabbath. Thus, the Scriptures are all we will
need to prove that the weekly Sabbath is not based on a lunar cycle. This, of course, is revealed in the Torah, in the
book of Joshua, in the evangels, and in the book of Acts. The many, many, secular materials which testify contrary
to this belief will not be needed.
Although it is obvious to most that the weekly cycle can't be in sync with the moon's cycle, beings how the
moon was created on day 4 (Gen. 1:14-19), thus, new-moon day would have been on day 4 of the weekly cycle
and DAY 7 OF THE WEEKLY CYCLE WOULD HAVE BEEN DAY 3 OF THE MOON'S CYCLE,
depending on if the moon was created new, or if the moon was created old. If the moon was created old, being the
full moon, then the full moon would have been on day 4 of the weekly cycle instead of day 7 of the weekly cycle.
And if this were the case then the full moon couldn’t be considered as being the 14th
or 15th
of the month.
Whichever the case may be, it is impossible for the weekly cycle to be reliant on the moon's cycle because the
weekly cycle began before the moon was created. Therefore, the weekly cycle is in no way reliant on the moon's
cycle. The only way it could be said that the weekly cycle is in sync with or reliant on the moon’s cycle would be if
the moon was created before the weekly cycle began, but such is not the case. Aside from this evidence there are
many Scriptural examples which show the weekly Sabbaths did not fall in sync with the four quarters of the moon,
landing on either the 7th
, 14th
, 21st, and 28
th of the moon’s cycle or the 8
th, 15
th, 22
nd, and 29
th days of the moon’s
cycle.
Because there are some who are falling prey to this deception I have taken the time to point out the Scriptural
evidence that show Sabbaths landing on dates other than the dates that those who say the weekly Sabbaths are to be
set according to the moon’s cycle, that the weekly Sabbaths always land on the 7th
, 14th
, 21st, and 28
th of the moon’s
cycle or that the weekly Sabbaths always land on the 8th
, 15th, 22
nd, and 29
th days of the moon’s cycle.
Yahweh bless all who take these matters seriously and are determined to believe what is revealed in Scripture rather
than what is found in some other writing or what some spiritual leader might have them believe by twisting
Scripture to make it fit what they are saying or without backing it up with Scripture at all.

Chapter 1 The Exodus
When Yahweh brought Israel out of Egypt it is revealed that the exodus was on the 15th day of the 1st month, it was
then that they traveled from Rameses to Succoth (Num. 33:3), which reveals that the 15th was not a Sabbath.
Although it is reasoned by many that the 15th was a Sabbath, thus their labors that were carried out on that day was
allowed from a sense of having their Ox in the ditch (Lk. 14:5), nevertheless, what was done in the exodus was all
being done by divine intervention. Thus, Yahweh worked it out in a way so his Sabbaths would not be broken.
Yahweh wouldn’t purposely set it up so his Sabbaths would be broken from the get-go. As a matter of fact
Scripture reveals that ISRAEL DID OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS YAHWEH GAVE TO THEM (Ex. 12:28,
35, 50) which included having holy convocations on the first and seventh days of unleavened bread. (Ex.
12:16)
From Scripture we are informed that in the exodus Israel obeyed Yahweh (Ex. 12:28, 35, 50), and Yahweh’s
instructions for them was, “In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month [not the 15th] at even [the day
begins in the evening (see Chapter 6), thus, from the very beginning of the 14th], ye shall eat unleavened bread, until
the one and twentieth day of the month at even [which is at the beginning of that day and excludes the 21st]” (Ex.
12:18). Thus, the 14th was the day Israel observed as a Sabbath because in Exodus 12:16 their instructs were, “in
the first day [of unleavened bread, the 14th day of the month, not the 15th] there shall be an holy convocation,
and in the seventh day [the 20th day of the month, not the 21st] there shall be an holy convocation… no manner of
work shall be done in them, save that which every man must eat, that only may be done of you.” (Ex. 12:16)
Even if their labors and travels would have been allowed because of a sense of having their Ox in the ditch it is
revealed that THEY DID NOT DO ANY MANNER OF WORK ON THE DAYS OF CONVOCATION, “save
that which every man must eat.” The days of Israel’s journey out of Egypt look something like this:
Passover day and the first day of unleavened bread, the 14th, was on the 5th day of the week, Thursday. On this
night they were summonsed to get out (Ex. 12:30). On the 15th (Friday), when the day of rest and holy convocation
was over and it came to be the 2nd day of unleavened bread, they left (Num. 33:3); “And the Children of Israel
journeyed from Rameses to Succoth… (in the night of the 15th just as the 14th ended [Ex. 12:37; Num. 33:5])
And they departed from Succoth (in the daytime of the 15th, Friday), and pitched in Etham, which is in the edge of
the wilderness (for the 7th day Sabbath on 16th which was the 3rd day of ULB [Ex. 13:20; Num. 33:6]).
And they removed from Etham (in the night of the 17th, which began the 4th day of ULB), and turned again unto
Pi-hahiroth, which is before Ball-zephon: and they pitched before Migdol (in the day of the 17th, Sunday [Num.
33:7; Ex. 14:2]).
Then the water was parted (in the night of the 18th, which began the 5th day of ULB) [Ex. 14:16-21]), and in the
morning watch (of the 18th, Monday, the sea destroyed Pharaoh’s army. (Ex. 14:24-28)
And they departed from before Pi-hahiroth (during the day, Monday the 18th), and passed through the midst of the
sea into the wilderness, and went three days journey in the wilderness of Etham (Day of Monday the 18th, = 1st
day’s journey; Night of Tuesday the 19th = 2nd day’s journey; Day of Tuesday the 19th = 3rd day’s journey), and
pitched in Marah (at the end of the 6th day of ULB [Num. 33:8; Ex. 15:23], Tuesday).
Now they were ready for the 7th (last) day of unleavened bread, a day of rest (Ex. 12:16). This took place on the
20th, Wednesday, and when the evening of the 21st came the days of unleavened bread came to an end. (Ex. 12:18)
7
And they removed from Marah (in the night of the 21st, Thursday), and came unto Elim: and in Elim were twelve
fountains of water, and threescore and ten palm trees; and they pitched there (in the night of the 22nd, Friday
[Ex.15:27; Num. 33:9]). It is likely that they rested here for the Sabbath and because of the water here it is likely
they stayed here for a while which brought them to the 15th day of the second month, “And they took their journey
from Elim, and all the congregation of the children of Israel came unto the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim
and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departing out of the land of Egypt. (Ex. 16:1; Num.
33:10-)
Here we see that Exodus 16:1 brings us to “the fifteenth day of the second month,” which will verify these dates and
it verifies that the weekly Sabbaths were not on the 7th
, 14th
, 21st & 28
th days of the month, nor were they on the
8th
, 15th
, 22nd
, & 29th
days of the month. THUS, NEITHER THE 14TH
NOR THE 15TH
ARE SET DATES FOR
THE WEEKLY SABBATH. Exodus 16:1-2 & 6-8 reads, “…on the fifteenth day of the second month…the whole
congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness… At even [of the 16th
],
then ye shall know that Yahweh hath brought you out of the land of Egypt: And in the morning [of the 16th
], then ye
shall see the glory of Yahweh; for that he heareth your murmurings against Yahweh… This shall be, when Yahweh
shall give you in the evening (of the 16th
when the Sabbath is past and the first day of the week begins) flesh to eat,
and in the morning bread to the full… (the 1st day of 6 days when manna was to be gathered which identifies the 16
th
day of the 2nd
month as being the 1st day of the week).”
In Exodus 16 is where Yahweh began to give them manna, which began on the first day of the week. Thus, because
the weekly Sabbath is recorded as being on the 15th day of the second month (Ex. 16:1, 6-8, 13-15) the days of
the week for these calendar events are easily mapped out. THE 14TH Night of 15TH Day of 15TH & THE 16TH In the night of the 14th Moses was summonsed On the 15th, when the day In the day portion of the 15th

(Num. 33:7; Ex. 14:2, 16-21, 24-28) (Num. 33:8) (Num. 33:9-11; Ex. 15:27-16:1)

Num. 33:10). In Exodus 16 is where Yahweh began to give them manna, which began on the first day of the week. Thus, because
the weekly Sabbath is recorded as being on the 15th day of the second month (Ex. 16:1, 6-8, 13-15) the days of the week for

Is it just coincidence that even though Moses was summonsed to leave in the night of the 14th
that he didn’t leave
until the 15th
? (Num. 33:3) Although they were summonsed to leave in the night of the 14th
(Ex. 12:31) they were
forbidden to go out of their dwellings until the morning of the 14th
(Ex. 12:22), and they obeyed these instructions
(Ex. 12:28, 35, 50). Thus, they didn’t leave until the day of the 14th
was past and when they left it was on the 15th
(Num. 33:3).
Also, is it just coincidence how the three day journey falls into place? Absolutely not! The three day journey goes
right from the 5th
day of unleavened bread on the 18th
to the 7th
day of unleavened bread on the 20th
. And this gives
witness to the 14th
and the 20th
being the days of convocation instead of being the 15th
and the 21st.
The days which they traveled on in the exodus were not days of convocation and the days which they were not
traveling on were days of convocation, and what is clear is, THEY DID NOT TRAVEL ON THE 14TH
but that
does not identify that day as being a weekly Sabbath day. However, a weekly Sabbath day did occur on the 15th
in
Exodus 16. With this being the case we see one day of convocation being on the 14th
and another day of
convocation being on the 15th
. Thus, the weekly Sabbath does not consistently land on Passover day. For further
verification that the convocation day for Passover is on the 14th
review the document I have, The 14th Is: The Day
Of The Passover Sacrifice & The 1st Day Of Unleavened Bread. The 14th Is: A Day of Holy Convocation.
What is clear is that they did travel on the 15th
(Num. 33:3). Hence, beginning with the evening of the 14th
day is the
Feast Of Unleavened Bread (Ex. 12:18), not the 15th
. With this evidence it is clear that the weekly Sabbaths were not
set according to the moon’s lunar cycle but advocates that promote doing so also promote the fallacy that the 7 days
of unleavened breads are on the 15th
– 21st. When using these false dates it helps promote the idea that the 6 day
work week has less interruptions. Whichever the case may be the 6 day work week is interrupted many times when
using the lunar cycle to calculate the seventh day Sabbaths. (see pg. 9, The Six Day Work Week)
When Israel came out of Egypt they not only obeyed the voice of Yahweh in that they did not go out of their
dwellings until the morning (Ex. 12:22), but they also had a day of convocation on the first and seventh days of
unleavened bread (Ex. 12:16), thus they didn’t leave until the 15th
because they had a day of convocation on the 14th
.
Clearly, the 14th
is the day when Israel didn’t do any work while on the 15th
:
The people took their dough before it was leavened, their
kneadingtroughs being bound up in their clothes upon their shoulders. 35
And the children of Israel did according to the word of Moses; and they (Ex. 12:34)
borrowed of the Egyptians jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment: (Ex. 12:35)
And Yahweh gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they
lent unto them such things as they required. And they spoiled the Egyptians. (Ex. 12:36)
And the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, (on the 15th day
of the 1st month; on the morrow after the passover, the children of Israel went
out with an high hand, Num. 33:3) about six hundred thousand on foot that (Ex. 12:37)
were men, beside children. 38
And a mixed multitude went up also with them;
and flocks, and herds, even very much cattle. 39
And (on the 14th) they baked (Ex. 12:38)
unleavened cakes of the dough which they brought forth out of Egypt (when
they left on the 15th), for it was not leavened; because they were thrust out of
Egypt, and could not tarry, neither had they prepared for themselves any victual. (Ex. 12:39)
9
Please note what was done on the 14th
in contrast to what was done on the 15th
:
And it came to pass, that at midnight (in the night of the 14th) Yahweh smote
all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on
his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the
firstborn of cattle. 30
And Pharaoh rose up in the night (the night of the 14th), (Ex. 12:29)
he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt;
for (in the night of the 14th) there was not a house where there was not one dead. (Ex. 12:30)
And he called for Moses and Aaron by night (in the night of the 14th), and
said, Rise up, and get you forth from among my people, both ye and the
children of Israel; and go, serve Yahweh, as ye have said. 32
Also take (Ex. 12:31)
your flocks and your herds, as ye have said, and be gone; and bless me also. (Ex. 12:32)
And the Egyptians were urgent upon the people (on the 14th of 1st month), that
they might send them out of the land in haste; for they said, We be all dead men. (Ex. 12:33)
On the 14th
they had a day of convocation and rest, the only work done on that day was that of food preparation
when they prepared the Passover meal, of which is allowed to do on the first day of unleavened bread, (Ex. 12:16),
but on the 15th
they traveled from Rameses, and pitched in Succoth (Num. 33:3, 5). Clearly there was work other
than food preparation done on the 15th
, which is not allowed to be done on the first day of unleavened bread (Ex.
12:16). Thus, the 15th
is not the first day of unleavened bread, the day of convocation, the 14th
is (Ex. 12:18). After
they had pitched in Succoth on the 15th

which was a weekly Sabbath day. When understanding this time line it is evident that the weekly Sabbath day was

line.
Numbers 33:1-11 Timeline
1 These are the journeys of the children of Israel, which went forth out of the
land of Egypt with their armies under the hand of Moses and Aaron. 2 And Moses wrote their goings out according to their journeys by the commandment
of Yahweh: and these are their journeys according to their goings out.
3 And they departed from Rameses in the first month, on the fifteenth day Fri. night

Yahweh executed judgments. (days & weeks before the 14th arrived [Ex. 5 – Ex. 10) 5And the children of Israel removed from Rameses, and pitched in Succoth. (Ex. 12:34-37)
6 And they departed from Succoth (the day portion of 15th, Fri.), and pitched in Etham, Fri. Day – Sat.
(rested on 16th, the Sabbath) which is in the edge of the wilderness. (Ex. 13:20) 15th – 16th

The Conjunction
It is possible that some who believe that the weekly cycle is to coincide with the lunar cycle believe that only the
days when the moon is visible are days that are to be counted in the weekly cycle. The days which they consider to
be the days of conjunction, when the moon is not visible, are not to be counted in the weekly cycle and are somehow
considered as being one continuous day. Nevertheless, whatever their reasons are, Scripture defines a day with an
evening and a morning (Gen 1:5,8,13,19,23,31), “…from even unto even” is what represents one day (Lev. 23:32),
which occurs with one rotation of the earth. Please note the same from the Scripture that tells us which days are the
seven days of unleavened bread, “…on the fourteenth day of the (first) month at even…until the one and twentieth
day of the month at even.” (Ex. 12:18)
From one evening to the next evening represents one day, which includes a morning in between, and days of
conjunction have an evening and a morning, therefore, they are each an individual day. But if they are counted
as being a day the weekly cycle that is set according to the lunar cycle is thrown out of kilter which discredits such a
12
thesis, thus they are not counted as being a day by many who believe that the weekly cycle is to be set by the lunar
cycle in an attempt to give credence to what they are teaching. However, with a teaching such as this it should
become obvious to the person who investigates it that it does not agree with the instructions given in Scripture.
The Six Day Work Week
Some advocates who believe that the weekly cycle is to be set by the lunar cycle indicate that those who do not have
the dates set according to the lunar cycle do not follow the command to work six days because they at times will
have an annual Sabbath in midweek, which would interrupt the six days of work. While it is true that the six day
work week could be interrupted: twice during the days of unleavened bread, once on the Feast of Weeks, once on
the Feast of Trumpets, once on the Day of Atonement, once during the Feast of Tabernacles and once on the Last
Great Day, nonetheless, when setting the week according to the lunar cycle the command to work six days would be
interrupted at least twelve times in the year (once every month), once during the days of unleavened bread, once at
the Feast of Weeks, once on the Day of Atonement and once at either the Feast of Tabernacles or Last Great Day.
It is simple math to discover that the command to work six days has far more interruptions in the weekly cycle that
is set by the lunar cycle than the weekly cycle, which they consider to be of Pagan origin (Sun-Sat). The weekly
cycle of which they consider to be of Pagan origin only has the six days of work interrupted, at most, 7 times in the
year, while the six days of work in the weekly cycle that is set by the lunar cycle has the six days of work interrupted
at least 16 times in the year.
The argument that the weekly cycle (Sun-Sat), which our calendar is based on today, which they consider to be of
Pagan origin is inferior to the weekly cycle that is set by the lunar cycle because the command to work six days is
interrupted is a mute point. Furthermore, just because the names of the days of the week are of Pagan origin does
not mean that the weekly cycle is of Pagan origin.
Chapter 2 The Manna
One thing to note is that if the weekly Sabbath was on a lunar cycle during the time when Yahweh provided the
manna then on the 6th
day of the 4th
week in every lunar cycle there would need to be a 3 or 4 day supply of manna
provided and gathered, because most who believe that the weekly cycle is to be set by the lunar cycle teach that
either the 28th
or the 29th
of each month is a weekly Sabbath and they teach that from the end of one of these days
until the end of new moon day is also a Sabbath, which on alternate months it could easily be a time period of 48
hours. Thus, for those who teach that every 7th
, 14th
, 21st & 28
th days of the month are weekly Sabbaths, on the 6
th
day of the 4th
week in a lunar cycle manna not only would need to be gathered for the upcoming weekly Sabbath on
the 28th
or 29th
, but because the time period from that point until the end of new moon day is also considered as
being a Sabbath then in a month that has 30 days the manna would need to be gathered for: the 29th
, the 30th
and for
the 1st day of the next month because all of these days are considered as being a Sabbath as well. Please note that
this is a 3-4 day span of time that either manna would need to be gathered for all 4 days on the 6th
day of that week:

It appears that all of these possibilities are not Scriptural, but let’s examine them in closer detail so we will know for
certain that they are not Scriptural. (2Tim. 4:5)
A 2 Day Portion Of Manna Gathered On The 7th
& 8th
Day?
If the weekly cycle were set according to the lunar cycle then every month there would be a 7 – 8 day span of time
from the last weekly Sabbath in every month to the first weekly Sabbath in every month. So, could it be that every
week that is set according to the lunar cycle, except for one, that a double portion of manna would be gathered on
the 6th
day that follows the weekly Sabbath but manna is to be gathered on the 7th
or 8th day that follows the last

With this evidence it is made clear that the weekly cycle does not coincide with the lunar cycle because there would
have been more than a 6 day span of time from the time when there was no manna on the 4th
weekly Sabbath of
every month to the next time when manna would again be gathered for the first weekly Sabbath of each month.
There is no record in Scripture of this ever happening. All Scriptural records indicate the sequence of manna being
available to them for six days was never broken, that the manna was gathered consecutively every six days, and only
on the sixth day was a double portion of manna given for the morrow, because there never was any manna available
to them on the seventh day. (Ex. 16:27)
The 1 or 2 lingering days at the end of each month simply puts the 7 day week out of kilter which is demonstrated
with the 6 day cycle of manna. But maybe it is taught that there was no manna given on those days either beings
how those lingering days along with new moon day is considered as being Sabbaths by some? Lets investigate to
see if that theory might be feasible.
A 48 & A 72 hour Sabbath?
Many who set the weekly cycle according to the lunar cycle proclaim that from the last weekly Sabbath in a lunar
cycle (the 28th
or 29th day) through new moon day is either one solid Sabbath day or that those days are multiple
Sabbaths in a row, which if such were the case every months ending would blend into the next months beginning
with a double Sabbath being 48 to 72 hours long.

Many who set the weekly Sabbaths on the 7th

They proclaim that from the last weekly Sabbath in a lunar cycle (the 28th
day) through new moon day is either one
solid Sabbath day or that those days are multiple Sabbaths in a row, which if such were the case every months
ending would blend into the next months beginning with a double Sabbath being 72 to 96 hours long.

Day 1 Day 2 Day 3 Day 4 Day 5
manna manna manna manna manna no manna/weekly Sabbath No manna/new moon day/a Sabbath
In Yahweh’s calendar the day is dependant upon one rotation of the earth, which makes the day dependent upon the
rotation of the earth rather than the circling of the moon. Therefore, the week’s cycle is not dependent upon the
moon’s lunar cycle, but the month is. Thus, weekly Sabbaths are not lunar Sabbaths but the annual Sabbaths are.
To say that 2 or 3 rotations of the earth does not count as 2 or 3 days is diminishing from the fact that an
evening and a morning has passed which is established as being a day (Gen 1:5,8,13,19,23,31; Lev. 23:32).
Hence, 2 or 3 evenings and 2 or 3 mornings cannot equate out as being only one day.
Furthermore, please note in the calendar illustration above that after the 1st day of the month to the 6
th day of that
week there would only be 5 days of gathering manna instead of 6 as instructed in Scripture (Ex. 16:5,22,29) because
new moon day is considered as being a Sabbath. Hence there is no manna on that day and the only days in that
week when manna was available was the 2nd
, 3rd
, 4th
, 5th
and 6th
days of that week, which is only 5 days, and that
breaks the cycle of gathering manna for 6 days. Thus the gathering of a double portion of manna in that week would
17
be done on day 5 instead of day 6 as commanded (Ex. 16:5,22,29). All of this is clear evidence that setting the
weekly cycle according to the moon’s lunar cycle is not Scriptural.
So, if there is a 48 – 72 hour period of time that is considered as being a Sabbath that ends every month and blends
into the next month wouldn’t that be an indication that there was no manna available to Israel during that time,
because on the Sabbath there was no manna (Ex. 16:25-27)? Let’s investigate!
Israel Goes Hungry?
For those who believe that when the moon is not visible then it is in conjunction and until it is visible again all of
that time is also considered as being a Sabbath, thus no manna could be gathered and the day previous to it, the 28th
or the 29th
day of every month is also considered as being a Sabbath, then at times this could turn out as being a time
period of 3 or 4 days when no manna could be gathered. So on the 6th
day of the 4th
week in a lunar cycle a 3-4 day
supply of manna would have been needed otherwise Israel would have been left hungry. However, please note that
the only provision for manna to be gathered for more than a day’s portion was on the sixth day of every week and
only a two-day portion was permitted (Ex. 16:5,22,29). Therefore, every month for 40 years the children of Israel
would have been without food for at least 1 day if the weekly Sabbaths were set by the lunar cycle, and on alternate
months they would have been without food for at least 2 days in a row.

Please note that there is no record of Yahweh ever giving a provision of manna for more than a two day supply on
the sixth day of any week and there is no record of their murmuring on account of having to go without. With all of
the murmurings of Israel it is unlikely that they wouldn’t have murmured against having to go without manna for a
day, and at times two days in a row on alternate months, so what is the explanation from them who teach that the
weekly cycle is to be set according to the lunar cycle concerning this matter?
This is further evidence that the weekly cycle was and is not on a lunar cycle, which would have all of the weekly
Sabbaths set on either the 7th
, 14th
, 21st, & 28
th; or the 8
th, 15
th, 22
nd & 29
th days of the month and having the new
moon days observed as Sabbaths as well. By doing so it would result in having a double Sabbath every month and
on alternate months there would be a consecutive 3 day period of time as being Sabbaths, but for the Sabbath there
was only a two day provision of manna to be gathered on the 6th
day (Ex. 16:5,22,29). Therefore, by setting the
weekly cycle according to the lunar cycle is out of sequence with the manna and by doing such that would put the
weekly cycle out of step with Scripture.
18
Manna was gathered consecutively every 6 days with a 2 day portion of manna gathered on every 6th
day for the
morrow, being the 7th
day, and every 6th
day following the 7th
day a double portion of manna was again gathered
without interruption for 40 years. Clear up until the day of the wave sheaf offering which began the barley harvest
so Israel would have food to eat when they crossed over into the promised land manna was available to them.
Yahweh did not short Israel a daily portion of manna once or twice every month; he provided them with a daily
portion of manna for 40 years clear up until the day of the omer wave offering which is the first of the first fruits of
the barley harvest which was offered on the first day of the week just after that last Sabbath when manna was last
available to them. Thus, a day’s portion of manna was available to them every day clear up until the day when the
harvest of barley could begin and the manna would no longer be needed.
Manna Gathered In Between The Days Of The Last Weekly Sabbath
& New Moon Day In A Lunar Cycle?
There may be some who do not teach that the day or two days after what they consider to be the last Sabbath in the
month are Sabbaths, which land in between what they consider to be the last Sabbath of the month and new moon
day, so they my reason that manna was available on those days. However, that method will interrupt the six day
cycle of gathering manna as well.
If the period of time from the 28th
to the 1st day of the next month is not considered as being a Sabbath then there
would only be either 1 or 2 days when a double portion of manna is gathered again after the last weekly Sabbath of
the month for the Sabbath that is on new moon day; if indeed it truly is a Sabbath like the seventh day of the week is
a Sabbath as they claim. But then the gathering of manna for the Sabbath on new moon day would not be gathered
on the sixth day as commanded and the double portion of manna for the next weekly Sabbath would need to be
gathered again only 5 days later after the Sabbath on new moon day rather than being gathered on the 6th
day as
commanded. (Ex. 16:5,22,29)

19
Those who teach that the weekly Sabbaths are to be set on the 8th
, 15th
, 22nd
& 29th
days of the month and that new
moon day is a Sabbath as well also have problems.
If the period of time from the 29th
to the 1st day of the next month is not considered as being a Sabbath then a double
portion of manna would need to be gathered again on the 30th
for the Sabbath on new moon day, which is only 1 day
after the weekly Sabbath on the 29th
. But then the double portion of manna for the Sabbath on new moon day would
not be gathered on the sixth day as commanded (Ex. 16:5,22,29), and at times there would be no day that precedes
the Sabbath on new moon day when manna is available to them because the day prior to new moon day at times will
be a weekly Sabbath. So, Israel would have to go without manna on every other new moon day because the day
prior to that day was a weekly Sabbath when no manna available to them and the day prior to that day only a 2 day
portion of manna was allowed to be gathered. This is clear evidence that setting the weekly cycle according to the
lunar cycle is not Scriptural.

New Moon Sabbath/No Manna
When there is a 29-day month there is no day previous to new moon day so that manna could be gathered for new
moon day. So evidently when a month only has 29 days in it on the following day, new moon day, Israel had to go
with no manna because on the previous 6th
day of the week only a two day supply of manna was provided for the
weekly Sabbath (Ex. 16:5,22-24,29), but that did not allow for a portion of manna on new moon day. And when
there is a 30-day month then there would be at least one day in between what they consider to be the last Sabbath of
the month and the Sabbath on new moon day. Thus on the previous 6th
day of the week a two day supply of manna
would be gathered as usual for that day and the last weekly Sabbath of that lunar cycle’s month, but then there
would be another Sabbath on new moon day. So is new moon day truly a Sabbath like the 7th
day of the week is a
Sabbath or not?
If new moon day truly were a Sabbath like the 7th
day of the week is a Sabbath, as they claim, then there would be
no manna available to them on that day and a day’s supply of manna would need to be gathered on the previous day
to new moon day for the Sabbath on new moon day. However, Scripture reveals that “on the sixth day…it shall be
twice as much as they gather daily” (Ex. 16:5), but if manna were to be gathered for new moon day as well as the
weekly Sabbath on the sixth day in a 29 day month then that would be more than “twice as much.” Only a two-day
supply of manna was to be gathered on the sixth day (Ex. 16:5,22-24,29). Furthermore, when a two day portion of
manna was to be gathered for the upcoming Sabbath it could only be stored up until the following morning. (Ex.
16:5,22,29) And if a double portion of manna was gathered only one day after the last Sabbath in a 30 day month
for new moon day then that would break the 6 day cycle of gathering “twice as much…on the sixth day.” Any way
that this is broken down it does not fall in line with Scripture.
20
Manna was always gathered on the sixth day of every week and only a double portion was allowed, and the manna
that was gathered on the day prior to the last weekly Sabbath of every month could only be used for that Sabbath.
Thus, when a new moon day butted up against the weekly Sabbath, which resulted in being a double Sabbath, there
would be no manna available to Israel on new moon day because the double portion of manna that was gathered on
the day prior to the weekly Sabbath day could only be used for the day that it was gathered on and for the weekly
Sabbath. To do otherwise is a clear violation of Yahweh’s word but because of the double Sabbath a 3 day supply
would be needed or Israel would have had to go without on new moon day.
Because it is evident that Yahweh did not cause Israel to go hungry every other month it should become evident that
a calendar that has the weekly Sabbaths set according to the lunar cycle is out of step with the Scriptural weekly
cycle. This is clearly illustrated from knowing when the manna was to be gathered, when a double portion of manna
was to be gathered, and for what day the extra portion of manna was to be used.
Manna Gathered On The 4th
Or 5th
Day Of The Week
For The 1st Weekly Sabbath In Each Month?
Investigating these many possibilities may seem minuteness but it is necessary, because there is no consciences
among those who teach that the weekly Sabbath is to be set by the lunar cycle, so there is a wide spectrum as to what
various groups may believe. By investigating these many possibilities it is discovered that they are all in error.
I suppose that it could be possible that the teaching of some could be that the only day when manna did not appear
was on the weekly Sabbath, that the other days, such as new moon day and days of conjunction manna was
available. But this theory too does not line up with Scripture and breaks the 6 day cycle of gathering manna, which
in turn breaks the weekly cycle.
According to a weekly cycle that is set by the lunar cycle which sets the 8th
, 15th
22nd
& 29th
days of the month as
weekly Sabbaths, in a 29-day month the 6th
day following the last weekly Sabbath of that month is only the 5th
day
in the next weekly cycle, but a double portion of manna was not needed until the next day for the next weekly
Sabbath. This causes a dilemma for those who set the weekly Sabbaths according to the lunar cycle.
Example of a 29 day month:
The 6th
day of the week was when a double portion No manna available on weekly Sabbath days
of manna was to be gathered. (Ex. 16:5,22,29) (Ex. 16:25,27)

on day 6 as commanded? (Ex. 16:5,22,29)
These methods do not match the Scriptural criteria for when and for what day a double portion of manna was to be
gathered. The double portion of manna that was gathered on the sixth day could not be used 2 or 3 days later. Not
only was the double portion of manna to be gathered on the “sixth day” (Ex. 16:5,22,29) instead of the 7th
or 8th
day,
but the double portion of manna that was to be gathered on the sixth day had to be used “To morrow,” it could only
be stored up and “kept until the morning,” (Ex. 16:23,25) it could not be stored up and used 2 or 3 days later.
Manna that was stored up on any other day until the next morning other than the 6th
day bred worms (Ex. 16:19,20)
and the manna that was gathered on the sixth day for the Sabbath day could only be stored up for the upcoming
morning of the seventh day Sabbath. In other words the manna that was gathered on the 6th
day for the upcoming
Sabbath was to be used, “To morrow!” (Ex. 16:23) It could only be stored, “…till the morning…that which
remaineth over (from the sixth day) lay up for you to be kept until the morning…And Moses said, Eat that to day;
for to day is a Sabbath unto Yahweh: to day ye shall not find it in the field.” (Ex. 16:23,25)
These same problems exist in a lunar calendar that sets the 7th
, 14th
, 21st & 28
th days of the month as weekly
Sabbaths. From the last weekly Sabbath in a month that is always on the 28th
to the first weekly Sabbath in the next
month there would always be 8-9 days. However, “on the sixth day…it shall be twice as much as they gather daily”
(Ex. 16:5), which the sixth day in the weekly cycle that is set according to the lunar cycle that sets the 7th
, 14th

days of the month as weekly Sabbaths will either be the 5th
day in the next weekly cycle or it would be the 4th
day in the next weekly cycle after the weekly Sabbath that is on 28th

day of this month, which is 3 to be used “To morrow,” because it could only be
days later, in order for the manna to be gathered “kept until the morning?” (Ex. 16:23,25)
on day 6 as commanded? (Ex. 16:5,22,29)
Day 6 when a double portion of manna is to be gathered (Ex. 16:5,22,29) is only day 5 in the 1st weekly cycle of a
month that follows a 29 day month and it is only day 4 in the 1st weekly cycle of a month that follows a 30 day
month. So was a double portion of manna gathered on the 4th
or 5th
day of the 1st weekly cycle in each month, which
is 2-3 days prior to the next weekly Sabbath on the 7th
day of the month, or was a double portion of manna gathered
on day 7 or day 8 from the last weekly Sabbath in each month so it would be used on the following morning from
when it was gathered?
While one way will have the double portion of manna gathered “on the sixth day,” but it wouldn’t be eaten “To
morrow” and it would have to be stored up past the next “morning” in order to be used on the next Sabbath, and the
other way would only have the manna “kept until the morning,” but it wouldn’t be gathered “on the sixth day” from
the last weekly Sabbath of the previous month. Both of these methods only half way meet the Scriptural criteria
which shows a critical flaw in a calendar that is set according to the lunar cycle.
It should be noted that the double portion of manna that was gathered on the 6th
day was for the “morrow,” not for
two or three days later, “This is that which Yahweh hath said, To morrow is the rest of the holy Sabbath unto
Yahweh: bake that which ye will bake today, and seethe that which ye will seethe; and that which remaineth lay up
for you to be kept until the morning.” (Ex. 16:23) Also, it should be noted that it was only on the 6th
day when the
double portion of manna was gathered, not on any other day. Manna that was stored up on any other day until the
next morning, other than the 6th
day bred worms (Ex. 16:19,20).
The manna that was gathered on the sixth day for the Sabbath day could only be stored up for the upcoming morning
of the seventh day Sabbath. It could only be stored, “…till the morning…that which remaineth over (from the sixth
day) lay up for you to be kept until the morning…And Moses said, Eat that to day; for to day is a Sabbath unto
Yahweh: to day ye shall not find it in the field.” (Ex. 16:23,25)
The manna that was to be eaten “to day” was the manna that was gathered “on the sixth day”
(Ex. 16:5,22,29) and it could not be gathered 2-3 days prior to it.
The manna that was eaten “to day” was the Sabbath day. (Ex. 16:23,25)
The extra portion of manna that was gathered “on the sixth day” could only be kept until the morning
(Ex. 16:19,20,23,25), it could not be stored up and used 2 or 3 days later.

Chapter 3 Genesis & The Book Of Joshua
Further evidence that the weekly cycle is not set according to the lunar cycle is reveled in the book of Genesis. In
Genesis 1 we read, 14
“And Elohim said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the
night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: 15
And let them be for lights in the
firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. 16
And Elohim made two great lights; the greater
light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. 17
And Elohim set them in the
firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, 18
And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the
light from the darkness: and Elohim saw that it was good. 19
And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.”
These verses of Scripture reveal that the weekly cycle is not set by the lunar cycle, because before the moon was
even created on “the fourth day” to set the lunar cycle into motion, the weekly cycle had already began back in
verse 5 of Genesis 1. If the weekly cycle was to be set according to the lunar cycle then the moon would have had
to be created before the weekly cycle began, but the weekly cycle was in motion before the moon was. Therefore,
the weekly cycle and the lunar cycle do not coincide with each other.
The weekly cycle began before the moon began its circling of the earth, thus, the beginning of the week is not
dependent upon the beginning of the moons cycle. The weekly Sabbaths are not lunar Sabbaths, but the annual
Sabbaths are because the annual Sabbaths are set on the days of the month rather than being set by the days of the
week. The month is dependent upon the moon but the week isn’t.
The Book Of Joshua
Within the diagram below it shows that neither the 14th
nor the 15th
day of the first month was on a weekly Sabbath.
This illustration is grafted after the information that we are given in Joshua 5. From the information that we gather
in Joshua 5 it is revealed that the 14th
was on the 5th
day of the week and with the understanding that the day when
the manna ceased on was on the Sabbath then the day of the omer was on the 1st day of the week that is within the
Feast Of Unleavened Bread (Lev. 23:11) which would place that day on the 17th
of Abib. Thus, the weekly
Sabbaths during this month were not on the 7th
, 14th
, 21st, & 28
th days of this month nor were they on the 8
th, 15
th,
22nd
, & 29th
. In the first month of the year when Israel crossed over into the promised land the weekly Sabbaths
were on the 2nd
, 9th
, 16th
& 23rd
.

Again, this is clear evidence that the weekly cycle does not coincide with the lunar cycle, which would put the 7th
day of the week on either the 14th or the 15
th day of every month, depending on the teacher of the lunar cycle.
Although the 14th
and the 15th
at times will turn out to be a weekly Sabbath, but neither the 14th
nor the 15th
is
always on a weekly Sabbath, as was seen in the time of the exodus and as is seen in the year when Israel crossed
over into the promised land. Evidence of this is made clear from the knowledge that on the weekly Sabbath there is
no manna (Ex. 16:25,27), thus, Joshua 5:12 is referring to a Sabbath day because it was on the Sabbath when the
manna ceased, which turns out as being on the 16th
day of this month rather than being on the 14th
or the 15th
.
Yahweh provided them with a daily omer of manna clear up to the day of the omer for the barley harvest, which
always takes place on the first day of the week during the Feast of Unleavened Bread (Lev. 23:11). Yahweh did not
cut off the manna in mid week, he completed the weekly cycle of manna in that last week which provided them with
an omer of manna clear up until the first day of the week that was within the Feast of Unleavened Bread when the
barley harvest could begin. The beginning of the year’s harvest of barley is always on the day of the omer wave
sheaf offering, which takes place “on the morrow after the Sabbath” that is during the Feast of Unleavened Bread
(Lev. 23:11). The omer of manna ceased on the Sabbath just one day prior to the day of the omer for the barley
harvest.
Abib 14 in Joshua 5:10 was on the 5
th day of the week, not the 7
th day of the week. Abib 15 was on the 6
th day of the
week, which is on the morrow after the Passover, and it too wasn’t a weekly Sabbath. It was then that they ate of the
old grain although the manna hadn’t yet ceased (Josh. 5:11). Therefore, a two-day supply of manna was available to
them, as usual, on this sixth day of the week for the upcoming Sabbath day if it would have been needed, (Ex.
16:5,22,29) but it was not needed because of the old grain that was now available to them (Ex. 16:35). On the
morrow after they ate of the old grain was Abib 16, which was the Sabbath day when the manna ceased (as usual,
Ex. 16:25,27 [but this time never to appear again because the barley harvest was ready to begin]) (Josh. 5:12a). And
from that point onward beginning with the next day (Sunday, Abib 17), the day of the omer when the barley harvest
could begin, which is always on the 1st day of the week that is within the 7 days of unleavened bread (Lev. 23:11),
they ate of the new grain for the remainder of that year. (Josh. 5:12b)
Abib 14, the 5th
day of the week when they kept the Passover. (Josh. 5:10)
Abib 15, the 6th
day of the week is the morrow after the Passover when they ate of the old grain. (Josh. 5:11)
Abib 16, the 7th
day of the week is the morrow after they ate of the old grain when the manna ceased. (Josh. 5:12a)
Abib 17, the 1st day of the week when they began eating of the new grain, the fruit of the land. (Josh. 5:12b)
Although one who believes in a 15th
Passover would reason that the day when they ate of the old grain would be on
the 16th
, because they believe that the day when they ate of the old grain was the day of the omer, which was “on the
morrow after the Passover” (Josh. 5:11), but that still would not put the 14th
nor the 15th
on the seventh day of the
week because it was “on the morrow after they had eaten of the old corn” when the manna ceased, (Josh. 5:12) and
the day when manna ceased was on the 7th
day of the week (Ex. 16:25,27). Thus, because the day when the manna
ceased was on the 7th
day of the week the day prior to that day, when they ate of the old grain, was on the 6th
day of
the week, which by their reasoning it would make the weekly Sabbath land on the 17th
.
There is another school of thought that places the day of the omer on the 15th
day of this month, because of the
misconception that the day when they ate of the old grain was the day of the omer. This method would place the
weekly Sabbath on the 14th
. However, this method disrupts the week’s cycle of manna. It would have manna
ceasing on a Monday:
The 8th
– 14th
is the last complete week of manna?
Abib 14 when they

The morrow after the Passover 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 (Josh. 5:10) is on

(Josh. 5:11) is the day of the
omer wave sheaf offering, The morrow after they ate of the old grain when the

one day during this week?
25
Although this method would exclude the 15th
from being a weekly Sabbath but it is highly unlikely that Yahweh
broke the weekly cycle of manna. It is a misconception that the day of the omer in Joshua 5 is the day after the
Passover. What was eaten on the morrow after the Passover was “old” grain; it was not the grain from the new
harvest.
After Israel crossed over into the promised land they ate of the “old” grain until the day of the omer wave sheaf
offering, which was the first of the first fruits of the new harvest of grain, and the weekly cycle of manna ended just
one day prior to the day of the omer wave sheaf offering when the new harvest could begin:
Abib 14, the 5th
day of the week when they kept the Passover. (Josh. 5:10) Abib 15, the 6th
day of the week is
the morrow after the Passover when
they ate of the old grain. (Josh. 5:11) Last complete week of manna. 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 Abib 16, the 7

of the land (Josh. 5:12b). This is the day of the omer wave sheaf offering, which is the
first of the firstfruits of the barley harvest. Thus, manna ceased on the day prior to this
day because the fruit of the land is now available to them, the manna is no longer needed.
The weekly cycle of manna lasted for 40 years and an omer of manna was available to Israel clear up until the day of
the omer wave sheaf offering when the barley harvest would begin. From that point onward manna was no longer
needed because they were no longer in the desert where crops were not available to them, but after crossing over
into the promised land Israel was now in the land of plenty, the land of milk and honey, and manna was no longer
needed to sustain them. With the understanding of the timing of these events it is clear that neither the 14th
nor the
15th
was on a weekly Sabbath. Thus it is evident that the weekly cycle does not coincide with the lunar cycle.
Chapter 4 The Evangels & Acts
Scriptural evidence that the weekly Sabbath is not to be set according to the lunar cycle is also revealed in the
evangels. Those who teach that theory teach that either the 14th
or the 15th
day of the month is always set as a weekly
Sabbath. However, that theory is further proven to be false in the evangels and in the book of Acts.
26
Palm Sunday/10th
Day Of 1st Month
There are a few verses of Scripture that are said to have taken place on the first day of the week and it is also said
that what took place in those verses of Scripture took place on the tenth day of the first Scriptural month (Mt. 21:9-
11; Mk. 11:8-10; Lk. 19:35-38; Jn. 12:12-16). It is said that this took place on this date because this was the day the
sacrificial lambs for Passover were brought to Jerusalem and the Messiah went into Jerusalem as the fulfillment of
this sacrifice (Ex. 12:3). With this being the case we are able to see that the weekly Sabbaths did not occur during
the quarters of the moon. In other words, because the 10th
day of this month is said to have taken place on the first
day of the week then the day prior to that would have been a weekly Sabbath, and that would put that weekly
Sabbath on the 9th
day of the month instead of being on one of the dates that the Lunar Sabbaths are set to be on. The
dates that the Lunar Sabbaths are set to be on according to some are: the 7th
, 14th
, 21st & 28
th, according to others: the
8th
, 15th
, 22nd
& 29th
. Whichever the case may be, if it can be established that the 10th
day of this month did occur on
a Sunday then this is further witness that the weekly Sabbaths are not on set dates of the moon’s cycle.
One problem that some will have with saying that these verses of Scripture are a reference to Sunday is because this
teaching comes out of tradition. Although we do have to be careful of traditions not all traditions are false, and I
believe this tradition is true. I believe this tradition is true because a timeline can be traced through the Scriptures
one day after the other in sequence that proves it is true. Below are two charts that I have put together and following
that are two other Scriptural witnesses found that collaborate the timeline I have established.
10 Days In Sequence (Abib 8 – 17)
Because there are Scriptures that are parallel to each other it is possible to trace each day in sequence from 6 days
before the Passover up to the day of the resurrection, and it is possible to give each day a date because a date can be
established from the starting point, “six days before the Passover” (Jn. 12:1), the day is established from the ending
point, “the first day of the week.” (Jn. 20:1; Lk. 24:1)
With this information it is established that the weekly Sabbaths are not on set dates in the moon’s cycle.
Furthermore, this information establishes that Abib 14, the day our savior died, was on a Thursday, and that the
day of his resurrection was on a Sunday (the first day of the week). If you would like further information on the
subject concerning the day of our savior’s death and resurrection just ask for the document I have put together on
this subject called, Scriptural Evidence Shows Our Savior Died On A Thursday, and a copy of it will be emailed to
you free of charge.
In the chart below it shows that with the use of parallel Scriptures a timeline is able to be drawn out which shows the
time from “six days before the Passover” (Jn. 12:1) to the 17th of Abib, which is established to be on “the first day
of the week.” (Jn. 20:1; Lk. 24:1)
The day and date of each day is able to be established because from the time that is established as being “six days
before the Passover” in John 12:1 (Abib 8) ten days in sequence are mapped out by using parallel Scriptures, and the
tenth day of the month is established as being on “the first day of the week” (Jn. 20:1; Lk. 24:1). Furthermore,
because it is established that Yahushua died on the 14th of Abib; BOTH, THE DAY OF THE WEEK AND THE
DATE OF THE MONTH ARE DETERMINED, which establishes that the day when our savior died was on a
Thursday. See chart below.
Chart:

3rd day since our savior died Positively Identified (Sun. Abib 17)
Again, please note that the Scriptures chart out each day in sequence from the 8th of Abib to the 17th of Abib. This
is established from Scripture informing us that the next day has arrived, or that an evening and morning has come or
gone. Some blanks do need to be filled in, such as the date for Passover day, but with days such as that the date is
clearly established. Passover is on the 14th! So there really is no guessing about that date and by simple reasoning
other dates can be established such as the date when Satan entered into Judas in John 13. The date of the 13th is
given to that day because in John 13:1 it is established that it is, “before the feast of the passover,” and this fact, that
Satan entered into Judas before the Passover, is collaborated in Luke 22:3-6 and Mark 14:10-11. There is no
mistaking it, Satan entered into Judas before the 14th of Abib, but how many days before Abib 14? CLEARLY
IT WAS IN-BETWEEN THE TIME THAT WAS TWO DAYS BEFORE THE PASSOVER AND PASSOVER
DAY ITSELF (Mk. 14:1-12). Thus, it is not a stretch of the imagination to say it happened on the 13th of Abib.
The Next Day One After The Other
& Even And Morning Shows Sequence
A partial quote from the listed verses of Scripture in the chart above shows each day in sequence:
“Yahushua six days before the passover came to Bethany” Jn. 12:1 Abib 8, Fri
“There they made him a supper (suppertime starts a new day)” Jn. 12:2 (-11) Abib 9, Sat
“On the next day” (Mk. 11:7-11 is parallel to Jn. 12:12-19) Jn. 12:12 (-19) Abib 10, Sun
“eventide” ends the previous day, “the morrow” is the next day Mk. 11:11-12 (-19) Abib 11, Mon
“even” ended another day and “the morning” is the next day Mk. 11:19-20 (-14:9) Abib 12, Tue
“Then entered Satan into Judas” early on the 13th (Jn.13:2,27;Lk.22:3-6 is parallel) Mk. 14:10-11 Abib 13, Wed
“the day… the passover must be killed”(Mk.14:12-15:47;Mt.26:17-27:61 parallel)Lk.22:7(-23:55) Abib 14, Thur
“the next day…Pharisees came…unto Pilate” & “spices” prepared Mt.27:62 (-66); Lk.23:56a Abib 15, Fri
“and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.” Lk. 23:56b Abib 16, Sat
“the first day of the week…they came…bringing the spices”(Mt.28:1;Mk.16:1-2;Jn.20:1)Lk.24:1 Abib 17, Sun
“to day is the third day…” Lk. 24:21 Abib 17, Sun
28
Please note that Mark 11:7-11 are parallel Scriptures to John 12:12-19. Although John does not go on to list the next
day in sequence, Mark does. From here Mark is used up unto where another parallel Scripture is found in Luke.
From here Luke is the one that goes on to show each day in sequence up to the 17th.
John 12 starts out with “Six days before the passover” (Abib 8) and lists 3 days in sequence: Abib 8 – Abib 10 (Jn.
12:1-19). From this we know that Mark. 11:7-11 is Abib 10 because these Scriptures are parallel to John 12:12-19.
Mark then lists 3 more days in sequence, Abib 11 – Abib 13 (Mk. 11:11 – 14:11). From this we know that Luke
22:3-6 is Abib 13 because these verses of Scripture are parallel to Mark 14:10-11.
Luke then lists 3 more days in sequence, Abib 14 – Abib 17 (Lk. 22:7 – 24:1). And with this we are able to line up
the day of the week with the date of the month because Luke not only brings us up to Abib 17 but Luke informs us
that this is the first day of the week. Thus:
Abib 17 is Sunday, the 1st day of the week Abib 12 is Tuesday, the 3rd day of the week
Abib 16 is Saturday, the 7th day of the week Abib 11 is Monday, the 2nd day of the week
Abib 15 is Friday, the 6th day of the week Abib 10 is Sunday, the 1st day of the week (Palm Sunday)
Abib 14 is Thursday, the 5th day of the week Abib 9 is Saturday, the 7th day of the week
Abib 13 is Wednesday, the 4th day of the week Abib 8 is Friday, the 6th day of the week
It is obvious to me that this is all by design. Yahweh had this timeline placed in the Scriptures so these dates can be
established. It is unlikely that Yahweh would leave holes in this timeline. That would allow the dates to be
manipulated. Praise Yahweh for his brilliant insights and with this we are able to know that the theory of having the
weekly Sabbath set on certain dates in the Moon’s cycle is not in accordance to his will. Next we will take a closer
look at the book of Luke to establish these dates.
Luke 23
On the 14th
: “…he took it (the body of messiah) down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a

Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.”
The 14th
, Passover day, was observed as the first day of unleavened bread by the
followers of Messiah (Mt. 26:17; Mk. 14:12; Lk. 22:7 [a Sabbath Ex. 12:16,18) but this
high day Sabbath is now over and the Jews Passover day and first day of unleavened
bread on the 15th (their Sabbath) now begins. On this day, Friday the 15th

and ointments are prepared for Yahushua’s body.
On the 15th

On the 17th

(Lk. 24:1)
29
The day the disciples and our savior ate the Passover was the first day of unleavened bread (Mt. 26:17; Mk. 14:12;
Lk. 22:7), this day was the 14th
(Ex. 12:18). This day, the first day of unleavened bread, was a day of convocation
(Ex. 12:16), but it was not a weekly Sabbath. Before this day ended our savior was placed into the tomb (Lk. 23:53-
55). At the close of this day the women beheld the sepulchre, and how Yahushua’s body was laid (Lk. 23:55), the
15th
had now arrived and instead of resting, although this was the day the nation of Israel observes as being the first
day of unleavened bread and a high day Sabbath, the women who were followers of our savior prepared spices and
ointments on this day (Lk. 23:56a). However, even though there were many who observed the 15th
as being the first
day of unleavened bread and high day Sabbath it is evident that the weekly Sabbath had not yet arrived. The weekly
Sabbath was not observed until after the women prepared spices and ointments on the 15th
. Thus, it is evident that
Weekly Sabbaths do not always land on the 14th
day of a month, nor do weekly Sabbaths always land on the 15th
day
of the month because in the year our savior died the weekly Sabbath in Passover week was on the 16th
day of the
month.
Please note that these same dates and days of the week are confirmed in Luke 24.
Luke 24
In the evangels it is discovered that the 14th
day of the first month is the day when our savior died, which was
considered to be the day of preparation for the Jews Passover on the 15th
(Jn. 19:14). In Matthew 12:40 it is revealed
that, “as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the son of man be three days and three
nights in the heart of the earth.” With this information it is revealed that in in the first month of the year, when our
savior was put to death, the weekly Sabbath didn’t land on the 14th
nor did it land on the 15th
because from the time
our savior was put in the tomb on the 14th
he would have to remain there for three days and three nights before he
would be resurrected on the first day of the week (Mt. 28:1-6; Mk. 16:1-6; Lk. 24:1-3). Thus, it is simple math:
Because it is evident that our savior died on the 14th
and the 1st day of the week didn’t come about until 3 days and
3 nights from that point in time then the occurrence of the 7th
day came about 2 days and 2 nights from the point in
time when our savior was placed in the tomb on the 14th
. With this information it is evident that the weekly Sabbath
is not set to occur on the 14th
or the 15th
of each month.
Our savior died on Passover day (Mt. 26:2,18,19; Mk. 14:12,16; Lk. 22:7,8,11,13) which is on the 14th
(Lev. 23:5;
Num. 9:2,3; 28:16; Josh 5:10; 2Chr. 30:15; 35:1; Ezra 6:19; Eze. 45:1), and with the first day of the week being
positively identified as being “the third day since [that was] done” (Lk. 24:21) that would put the 14th
on the 5th
day
of the week and the 15th
on the 6th
day of the week rather than being on the 7th
day of the week, a weekly Sabbath.
The 1st day of the week was the 17
th because it was the 3
rd day since our savior died on the 14
th. (Lk. 24:1, 13, 21)
The 7th
day Sabbath was the 16th
because it was the 2nd
day since our savior died on the 14th
.
The 6th
day of the week was the 15th
because it was the 1st day since our savior died on the 14
th.
The 4th
day of the week was the 14th
because it was the day when our savior died on the 14th
.
Because it is revealed that in the year when our savior was put to death that the first day of the week was “the third
day since [that was] done” (Lk. 24:21) and that the day when that was done was on Passover day (Mt. 26:2,18,19;
Mk. 14:12,16; Lk. 22:7,8,11,13), the 14th
(Lev. 23:5; Num. 9:2,3; 28:16; Josh 5:10; 2Chr. 30:15; 35:1; Ezra 6:19;
Eze. 45:1), that would positively identify the first day of the week as being on the 17th
, because the 17th
is the third
day since the 14th
when the Passover was killed. Thus, THE WEEKLY SABBATH WAS ON THE 16TH
rather
than being on the 14th
or 15th
.

The Book Of Acts
In Acts 20:7 there is a weekly Sabbath being spoken of which is revealed as being 12 days from a time during the
days of unleavened bread when Paul sailed away from Philippi. Acts 20:6 reads, “And we sailed away from Philippi
after [amid] (Strong’s # 3326) the days of unleavened bread, and came unto them to Troas in five days; where we
abode seven days.” (5 + 7 = 12)
According to a calendar that has the weekly Sabbath set according to the lunar cycle the Sabbath that is being
spoken of in Acts 20:7 could only be speaking of the Sabbath that is set on either the 28th
or the 29th
day of the first
month; beings how those days would be the only weekly Sabbath that is 12 days from a time which is after
(meaning, during or amid) the days of unleavened bread, which was the time when Paul had sailed from Philippi.
Thus, that would make the day when they sailed from Philippi on either the 17th
or the 18th day of the first month:

Pentecost
However, what needs to be noted in Acts 20:7 is that the Sabbath being spoken of is “the first [of Sabbaths]
(Strong’s # 4521, “of Heb. or. [7676]; the Sabbath (i.e. Shabbath), or day of weekly repose from secular avocations
(also the observance or institution itself); by extens. a se΄nnight, i.e. the interval between two Sabbaths; likewise the
plur. in all the above applications).” The Sabbath being spoken of in Acts 20:7 is the first of seven Sabbaths
counting to Pentecost, but the 28th
or the 29th
could never be “the first [of Sabbaths]” in the count to Pentecost, the
28th
or the 29th
could only be the second Sabbath in the count to Pentecost (as noted in the above illustrations).
Therefore, this is further evidence that the weekly cycle is not based upon a lunar cycle.
31
In a calendar that has the weekly cycle set according to the lunar cycle either the 21st or the 22
nd would be the first
Sabbath in the count to Pentecost, but the 21st or the 22
nd is not 12 days from a time that is during the days of
unleavened bread. Therefore, it is evident that the weekly Sabbaths do not coincide with the lunar cycle.
In the year that is being spoken of in Acts 20 Passover would have been on the 2nd
day of the week and during the
days of unleavened bread, on the 3rd
day of the week, they sailed from Philippi making that out to be the 15th
day of
the first month. In five days they came unto them to Troas, which would have made that out to be the next weekly
Sabbath, the 19th
day of the first month. They then abode there seven days, which brought them to the time of the
next weekly Sabbath on the 26th
, and that Sabbath would have been the first Sabbath of seven Sabbaths in the
count of the Feast of Weeks. Also, that day was the 12th
day from the day when they sailed from Philippi on the 15th

Pentecost is the 50th
day from the day of the day of
the wave offering on the 20th
day of the first month
(Lev. 23:16). The 20th
day of the first month was
“the morrow after the Sabbath” that is within the
7 days of unleavened bread. (Lev. 23:11)
“And upon the first [of Sabbaths] (the 26th
), when the disciples came together to break bread (on that Sabbath), Paul
preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow (Sunday the 27th
); and continued his speech until midnight.”
(Acts 20:7)
It is no coincidence that Paul reached one point of his destination in 5 days, which allowed for him to rest on the
seventh day Sabbath of the 19th
, and abode there for seven more days which took him through to the next Sabbath on
the 26th
, and that allowed for him to rest and preach on that Sabbath. Then on the morrow, when that Sabbath was
past, he set out on his journey again, “For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, because he would not spend the
time in Asia: for he hasted, if it were possible for him, to be at Jerusalem the day of Pentecost.” (Acts 20:16)
When knowing the method of counting the feast of weeks, Pentecost, it is evident that the Sabbaths being counted
were the seven Sabbaths in the count of Pentecost. Evidence of this is further established from the statement made of
Paul in Acts 20: 16, “for he hasted, if it were possible for him, to be at Jerusalem the day of Pentecost.” Pentecost is
the morrow after the seventh Sabbath (Lev. 23:16) and where Paul was at in time in Acts 20:7 was the first Sabbath
which was leading up to the seventh Sabbath.
With this information it is evident that the weekly Sabbath is not set according to the lunar cycle because the weekly
Sabbath that is being spoken of in Acts 20 does not land on a date that those who teach that the weekly Sabbath is
set according to the lunar cycle. The weekly Sabbath that Acts 20 mentions in verse 7 is on the 26th
day of the first
month. Thus, the weekly Sabbaths in the first month of that year would have been on the 5th
, 12th
, 19th
and the 26th
,
and with this information it is evident that the following month’s Sabbaths also were not on the 7th
, 14th
, 21st and the
28th
nor were they on the 8th
, 15th
, 22nd
and the 29th
.
The weekly Sabbaths that were in the second month were likely on the 4th
, 11th
, 18th
and the 25th
and the weekly
Sabbaths that were in the third month of that year were likely on the 2nd
, 9th
, 16th
and 23rd
days of the month. None
of the dates for these weekly Sabbaths are found to be set according to the four quarters of the moon’s lunar cycle.
32
Chapter 5 Counting Pentecost
The count of Pentecost also reveals that the weekly Sabbaths do not coincide with the lunar cycle because:
# 1: Scripture reveals that the count of Pentecost is 50 days (Lev. 23:16), but as shown in the charts below the way
that many teach that the count of Pentecost should be, because of their belief that the weekly cycle is to be set by the
lunar cycle, they will have 53 days rather than 50 when counting the Feast of Weeks.
# 2: Scripture reveals that Pentecost does not have a set date, but because they have a set date for each weekly
Sabbath the seven days of unleavened bread will always be on the same day of the week, which in turn the day of
the wave offering will always be on the same date, which in turn the day that Pentecost is on will always be on the
same date.
#3: Scripture reveals that Pentecost is to be “the morrow after the seventh Sabbath” (Lev. 23:16), but a calendar
that is set according to the lunar cycle has more than 7 Sabbaths in the count of the Feast of Weeks.
Calendar example that has the 8th
, 15th

& 29th
days set for weekly Sabbaths:
Note: Pentecost would be the 53rd
day when counting this way
rather than being the 50th
day as instructed in Leviticus 23:16.
The count begins with the 16th
of the 1st month. And there are
actually a total of 10 Sabbaths when counting this way, which
does not agree with Leviticus 23:15,16. Furthermore,
Pentecost will always be on the 9th
day of the third month.

Note that when counting this way then there would be a total
of 10 Sabbaths but Pentecost is to be on “the morrow after the
seventh Sabbath,” (Lev. 23:16) “…seven Sabbaths shall be
complete” (Lev. 23:15) not 10.
Pentecost is a count of 50 days, not 53.
Pentecost has seven Sabbaths counting up to it, not 10.
Pentecost is to be on the morrow after the seventh Sabbath, not the morrow after the 10th
Sabbath.
Pentecost is a Feast that does not have a set date and the day of the wave offering also does not have a set date.
Although some will finagle it to try to make others believe that there are only 50 days in the way that they count the
Feast of Weeks and that there are only 7 Sabbaths in the way that they count the Feast of Weeks, but the evidence
speaks for itself. Those who teach that the weekly Sabbaths are to be set on the 7th

Note that when counting this way then there would be a total of 12 Sabbaths,
which includes 2 new moon days, but Pentecost is to be on “the morrow after
the seventh Sabbath,” (Lev. 23:16) “…seven Sabbaths shall be complete”
(Lev. 23:15), not 12.
Pentecost is a count of 50 days, not 53.
Pentecost has seven Sabbaths counting up to it, not 12.
Pentecost is to be on the morrow after the seventh Sabbath, not the morrow after the 12th
Sabbath.
Pentecost is a Feast that does not have a set date and the day of the wave offering also does not have a set date.
Clearly, when setting the weekly Sabbath to the four quarters of the moon’s cycle and observing the first day of the
month as a Sabbath in addition to the weekly Sabbath days the count of Pentecost proves that theory is in error.
Chapter 6 The Four Quarters Of The Moon
When it was first brought to my attention that the weekly Sabbaths were to be on set dates I was fast to give such a
thought no credibility at all and was not interested in any information on the subject what so ever. However, I have
experienced being wrong on other subjects that I couldn’t believe to be true, so I am not so quick to say something
has no credibility without searching it out any longer. However, one thing that I found to be enticing in the theory
34
that the weekly Sabbaths are to be set according to the lunar cycle was that it was said that the weekly Sabbaths
were to be set at the four quarters of the moon’s cycle. When that information was ran by me with the suggestion
that the weekly cycle that the world is on today originated in Paganism I began to wonder if there might be
something to such a theory. It wouldn’t have been surprising to me at all if I found that the weekly cycle that the
world is on to day did originate from Paganism, so I decided to investigate further even though I at first found such a
theory to be far-fetched. However, my suspicions that such a theory was untrue were confirmed after investigating
what was being taught concerning the lunar Sabbaths.
A theory that is taught concerning the lunar Sabbaths is that every weekly Sabbath is set at a quarter of the moon’s
cycle, which I thought would be fascinating if it were true. In other words it was suggested that one weekly Sabbath
of the month was always at the first quarter of the moon while another weekly Sabbath was always at the full moon
and that another weekly Sabbath was always at the third quarter of the moon and the last weekly Sabbath was
always at the last quarter of the moon. However, with a little investigation it is discovered that the full moon does
not always land on the same day in the moon’s cycle.
Sometimes the full moon is on the 14th
day of the month and sometimes the full moon is on the 15th
day of the
month. This probably works into the equation of why some believe that the weekly Sabbaths are to be set on the 7th
,
14th
, 21st, & 28
th days of the month while others believe that the weekly Sabbaths are to be set on the 8
th, 15
th, 22
nd,
& 29th
days of the month. However, the fact of the matter is that setting a date for each Sabbath in a month does not
work. Nevertheless, maybe a new teaching will be brought about that has the weekly Sabbath on the 14th
at times
while at other times it will be on the 15th
, depending on which day the full moon is in that month. Perhaps that
teaching already exists. Whichever the case may be, though, it is proven throughout Scripture that the weekly
Sabbaths were not on set dates. The weekly Sabbath is not set in accordance to the four quarters of the moon’s cycle.
Not only is proven that the full moon is not consistently on the 14th
or the 15th
day of the month but it is also proven
that the four quarters of the moon are not constantly 7 days apart. So, will another teaching develop that has some
weeks with 7 days in them while other weeks have 8 days in them? A teaching such as this would be no more
ridicules than the teaching that the days of conjunction are not to be counted as a day, but that is what the teaching is
from some who teach that the weekly cycle is to be set according to the moon’s lunar cycle.
Weekly Sabbaths are not set according to the lunar cycle, annual Sabbaths are. This is according to what is
revealed in Scripture. This is revealed in Genesis, this is revealed during the time when Yahweh brought Israel out
of Egypt, this is revealed when Yahweh brought Israel into the promised land, this is revealed during the time when
our savior walked in the flesh on this earth, this is revealed through the Acts of the Apostles, this is revealed from
the knowledge that the moons cycle is not divisible by 7, this is revealed from the knowledge that the four quarters
of the moon are not constantly 7 days apart, and this is revealed from the knowledge that the full moon is not always
on the 14th
nor is it always on the 15th
. Furthermore, it is revealed that the weekly cycle is not set according to the
lunar cycle because the 6 days of gathering manna does not match such a calendar and such a calendar does not line
up with the count of the Feast of Weeks.
With all of this evidence it reveals the truth that the weekly Sabbaths are not set according to the moon’s lunar cycle
in Scripture. It is my hope that all who come across this evidence will take it into consideration and that they will not
begin to teach such a faulty doctrine or if they have already fallen victim to this false doctrine it is my hope that they
will discontinue teaching such a faulty doctrine. However, if you find that these findings are in error then I would
appreciate your input and instruction on the proper way that these Scriptures should be defined and illustrated that I
have discussed in this document. We are to prove all things and we are to hold fast to that which is good. (1Thess.
5:21)

Appendix 1: The Order Of The Day
Leviticus 23:32 & The Beginning Of The Day
It is reasoned by some that the evening is at the end of the day from misunderstanding what we are told in Leviticus
23:32 and they reason that the day begins at night, which occurs directly after the evening. Others content that the
Scriptures speak of two evenings. Those who contend that the Scriptures speak of two evenings teach that one
evening is at the beginning of the day while the other evening is at the end of the day. However, by using this view
they manipulate the Scriptures to mean something other than what is intended. Yahweh is not the author of such
confusion (1Cor. 14:33). When the Scriptures refer to the evening it is always at the beginning of the day.
One person wrote: “If ‘ereb’ is at the beginning of the day, not the end, then please explain: Leviticus 23:32. ‘It
shall be unto you a sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even
unto even, shall ye celebrate your sabbath.’ Read this verse in context. It refers to Yom Kippur, the Day of
Atonement, which is the 10th day of the 7th
month. ‘...in the ninth day of the month at ereb, from ereb unto ereb...’
Shalom”
REPLY:
Thank you for your comment. The key to understanding this verse of Scripture is, as you have stated, “Read this
verse in context.” When putting this verse of Scripture “in context,” it does refer to “Yom Kippur, the Day of
Atonement, which is the 10th
day of the 7th
month” (Lev. 23:27). However, the part of this Scripture that is
misunderstood is the part, which reads, “in the ninth day of the month at even,” and because these words of
Scripture are misunderstood, the arab of the day is applied to the end of the day when arab actually begins the day.
Therefore, it is obvious that this verse of Scripture is not speaking about the beginning of the ninth day.
Clearly, “the Day of Atonement, which is the 10th
day of the 7th
month,” does not begin in the evening of the ninth
day. So, what are these words of Scripture telling us in order to understand the context of how it reads in the
English, “in the ninth day of the month at even?” The context is better understood if we go to the original language
to find out how it reads so that the “context” is not obscured through the translation.
First, what needs to be noted is that in the English version of the King James Bible, the English word “day” is an
italicized word, which is supposedly a help word to help understand the context. However, the help words that are
inserted can also be inserted in the context of the understanding according to the translator rather than being inserted
in the context of how the Scriptures are to be understood. Therefore, we have to determine if these help words
actually help to understand the context of the Scriptures, or if these help words hinder us to understand the context
of the Scriptures. In the case of this verse (Lev. 23:32) the help word, “day,” disrupts the context of this Scripture.
So, to read this verse of Scripture without the inserted word, “day,” it reads, “It shall be unto you a Sabbath of rest,
and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your
Sabbath.”
Now, if we “Read this verse in context,” without the italicized word “day,” we can see that it is not speaking about
the ninth “day” at all. The English words, “in the ninth of,” all come from the Hebrew word, “tish‘âh” (Strong’s #
8672), and the definition of this Hebrew word is, “perh. from 8159 through the idea of a turn to the next or full
number ten; nine or (ord.) ninth:” So, to “Read this verse in context,” knowing that the day of Atonement is on the
tenth day (Lev. 23:27) it would read, “It shall be unto you a Sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the
ninth of the month [through the idea of a turn to the next or full number ten] at even, from even unto even, shall ye
celebrate your Sabbath.” (Lev. 23:32)
36
Because this verse of Scripture is not speaking of the “ninth day,” the definition of the Hebrew word “tish‘âh”
(Strong’s # 8672) that fits the context of this Scripture is understood to be speaking of “a turn to the next or full
number ten.”
When understanding the definitions of these Hebrew words this verse of Scripture is better understood to say, “It
shall be unto you a Sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: [through the idea of a turn to the next or full
number ten] of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your Sabbath.” (Lev. 23:32)
The Evening Begins The Day
Scripture reveals that the evening begins the day, as we read in Genesis 1:5,8,13,19,23,31.
“…the evening and the morning were the first day.” (Gen. 1:5)
“…the evening and the morning were the second day.” (Gen. 1:8)
“…the evening and the morning were the third day.” (Gen. 1:13)
“…the evening and the morning were the fourth day.” (Gen. 1:19)
“…the evening and the morning were the fifth day.” (Gen. 1:23)
“…the evening and the morning were the sixth day.” (Gen. 1:31)
Just as the creation days are 1-7 in Genesis chapter 1 so are the days of unleavened bread, 1-7. Is what needs to be
noted is that these days ALL begin with the evening.

Although the 21st day is mentioned in Scripture along with the seven days of unleavened bread (Ex. 12:18) but the
days of unleavened bread only last UNTIL the evening of the 21st, which BEGINS the 21
st. When the 21
st begins,
the days of unleavened bread end. (Ex. 12:18)
Because there are to be seven days of unleavened bread (Ex. 12:15,16; 13:6,7; 23:15; 34:18; Lev. 23:7-8; Num.
28:17,18,25; Dt. 16:3,4,8; 2 Chr. 35:17; Ezra 6:21-22; Ez. 45:21) it is clear that either the 14th
or the 21st day must be
excluded from being a day of unleavened bread because when including both, the 14th
and the 21st days, that would
total eight days. However, it is clear that the 21st day is the day to be excluded because the days of unleavened bread
only last until the evening of the 21st day (Ex. 12:18) which is the beginning of the 21
st day, and if the 14
th day were
also excluded then that would only total six days of unleavened bread.
E = Evening M = Morning
When excluding the 14th
day there are only a total of 6 days because unleavened bread is only to be eaten until the
one and twentieth day of the month at even, which is only the beginning of the 21st day. (Ex. 12:18)
When the 14th
day is excluded and ending with the 21st day at even is only a total of 6 days.

The Order Of The Day Is Evening & Morning
The evening and the morning is the very order of the day. This also is revealed in Exodus 12:6-10. As established
in Genesis chapter 1 the evening and morning is the order of the day, but in Exodus 12:6-10 the night is also
mentioned which falls in between the evening and the morning.
“…kill it (the Passover) in the evening (which begins the 14th day).” (Ex. 12:6)
“And they shall eat the flesh in that night…(the night of the 14th
)” (Ex. 12:8)
“And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning…(of the 14th
)” (Ex. 12:10)
The evening and the morning is the very order of the day as established in Genesis 1. Thus, the Passover is to be
killed as the 14th
begins, in the evening. It is, the night, which follows the evening, and the Passover is to be eaten in
38
“that” night (Ex. 12:8), the night of the 14th
. And nothing of it is to remain until the morning (Ex. 12:10), the
morning of the 14th.
The order of the day is also illustrated in Deuteronomy 16 of which is also speaking of the Passover.
“…neither shall there anything of the flesh, which thou sacrificedst
the first day at even, remain all night until the morning.” (Dt. 16:4)
“…thou shalt sacrifice the Passover at even…” (Dt. 16:6)
“…and thou shalt turn in the morning, and go unto thy tents.” (Dt. 16:7)
Again, we see the order of the day; the evening begins the day when the Passover is Sacrificed. It is to be eaten in
that night which follows the evening and then comes morning. The evening, night and the morning is the order of
the day, not night morning and then evening.
We are also reminded of this in Leviticus 23:32. A Scriptural day is “…from even unto even.” When the evening
begins the day begins. This is also illustrated in Exodus 16. In Exodus 16 is when Yahweh first provided the manna
for those who came out of Egypt. It is revealed that the day this chapter begins with is a weekly Sabbath (Ex. 16:1-
6) and the following day is the first day of six when Yahweh provided the manna. Manna was never given on the
Sabbath day (Ex. 16:27) because Yahweh was teaching them that the Sabbath day was a day of rest (Ex. 16:29,30)
Thus, when Yahweh provided them the quail “in the evening” (Ex. 16:8,12,13) is evidence that the Sabbath day had
ended and the first day of six days had begun when not only would manna be provided for them but they also had
flesh to eat.
Again, the order of the day is established as being evening and morning:
“At even, then ye shall know that Yahweh hath brought you out from the land of Egypt: (Ex. 16:6)
And in the morning, then ye shall see the glory of Yahweh…” (Ex. 16:7)
“And Moses said, This shall be, when Yahweh shall give you in the evening flesh to eat,
and in the morning bread to the full…” (Ex. 16:8)
“At even ye shall eat flesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled with bread…” (Ex. 16:12)
“And it came to pass, that at even the quails came up, and covered the camp:
and in the morning the dew lay round about the host.” (Ex. 16:13)
All of these verses of Scripture are referring to one day and one day only. They are referring to a day that follows a
Sabbath day, the first day of the week when the manna first appeared. On this day, “at even,” they gathered quail to
eat, which was after the Sabbath had ended and “in the morning” they gathered manna to eat.

Appendix 2: The Day Of Holy Convocation
& The Passover Sacrifice
The 14th
Day Is The Day Of Holy Convocation
With all the evidence from Scripture of when the Passover is to be (Ex. 12:6; Lev. 23:5; Num. 9:2-3,5,10-11; 28:16;
Josh. 5:10; 2Chr. 30:15; 35:1; Ezra 6:19; Ez. 45:21), and understanding that Passover is to be kept at the mowed
(Num. 9:2), [the mowed being the day that is to be proclaimed as the day of holy convocation (Lev. 23:2,4)]; how
can one continue to call the 15th
the Holy Day, the day of holy convocation?
According to Scripture, the first day of unleavened bread is when the Passover is sacrificed (Dt. 16:4; Mt. 26:17;
Mk. 14:12; Lk. 22:7). Yet the Jewish customs demonstrate that the lambs are killed a day prior to what is considered
to be the first day of unleavened bread by them. Not only do these Scriptures demonstrate that the first day of
unleavened bread is the day of the sacrifice, but with this knowledge these Scriptures are telling us that because the
day of the sacrifice is on the first day of unleavened bread, that this day, the day of the sacrifice, is the Holy Day; as
the first day of unleavened bread is the day of holy convocation (Ex. 12:16; Lev. 23:7; Num. 28:18).
The first day of unleavened bread is when the Passover is sacrificed (Dt. 16:4; Mt. 26:17; Mk. 14:12; Lk. 22:7), and
the Passover sacrifice is to be on the fourteenth (Ex. 12:6; Num. 9:2-3, 11; 2Chr. 30:15; 35:1). Therefore, the day of
holy convocation is on the 14th
as the first day of unleavened bread is the day of holy convocation (Ex. 12:16; Lev.
23:7; Num. 28:18).
The 1st Day Of Unleavened Bread Is The 14
th
Passover day, the 14th
day, is the first day of unleavened bread.
(Ex. 12:18; Deut. 16:4; Mt. 26:17; Mk. 14:12)
In the first month, on the fourteenth day…ye shall eat unleavened bread…” (Ex. 12:18)
Note that Passover also is on the 14th
as is the first day of unleavened bread (Ex. 12:6;
Lev. 23:5; Num. 9:2-3,5,10-11; 28:16; Josh. 5:10; 2Chr. 30:15; 35:1; Ezra 6:19; Ez. 45:21).
“…neither shall there anything of the flesh, which thou sacrificedst the first day
at even, remain all night until the morning.” (Dt. 16:4)
Note that in Deuteronomy 16:4 the Passover is Sacrificed on “the first day” of unleavened
bread. This is further demonstrated to be the case in the following New Testament passages.
“Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread the disciples came to Yahushua,
saying unto Him, ‘Where wilt thou that we prepare…the Passover?” (Mt. 26:17)
“And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the Passover…” (Mk. 14:12)
“Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the Passover must be killed.” (Lk. 22:7)
All of these Scriptures speak of the 14th
day as being a day of unleavened bread and the 14th
day is before the 15th
day, so which day comes first to be proclaimed as the first day of unleavened bread? Why do people continually
proclaim the 15th
to be the first day of unleavened bread when even in their eight-day theory the 15th
is the second
day of the feast? They do not have one Scripture in agreement to Yahweh’s law to back up their claims that the 15th
is the first day of unleavened bread or that the 15th
is the day of holy convocation.”
40
The 1st & 7

Not The 2nd
& 8th
Days
For those who give allegiance to an eight-day feast, why is it that the Scriptures are ignored that say the first day and
the seventh days are to be the days of holy convocation? Those who hold to an eight-day festival theory proclaim
that the second and the eighth days are the holy convocation days. WHAT SCRIPTURES ARE USED TO
BACK THAT ASUMPTION UP? Please note the faultiness found within the eight-day theory:

Notice that the set days for the holy days in the eight-day theory are on the second and eighth days. However, the
word of Yahweh is plain when revealing what days the holy convocation is to be on and it’s not the second and the
eighth days:
“in THE FIRST DAY there shall be an holy convocation”
“in THE SEVENTH DAY there shall be an holy convocation” (Ex. 12:16)
“In THE FIRST DAY ye shall have an holy convocation” (Lev. 23:7)
“in THE SEVENTH DAY is an holy convocation” (Lev. 23:8)
“In THE FIRST DAY an holy convocation” (Num. 28:18)
“on THE SEVENTH DAY ye shall have an holy convocation” (Num. 28:25)
Furthermore, all Scriptures reveal that the feast of the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread are for seven
days (Ex. 12:15,16; 13:6,7; 23:15; 34:18; Lev. 23:7-8; Num. 28:17,18,25; Dt. 16:3,4,8; 2Chr. 35:17; Ezra 6:21-22;
Ez. 45:21), not eight. However, the theory of an eight-day feast fits well into the customs of the Jews, but it does
not line up with Scripture. Who is it that you serve (Mt. 6:24; Lk. 16:13)?
It is clear that “on the fourteenth day of the month at even, ye shall eat unleavened bread” (Ex. 12:18) which makes
the fourteenth day the first day of unleavened bread, not mattering when you determine the evening of the day to
be. Thus, the 14th
is the day of holy convocation because the first day of unleavened bread is the day of holy
convocation. (Ex. 12:16; Lev. 23:7; Num. 28:18)
With the understanding that days begin with the evening it is evident that the 14th
is the first day of unleavened bread
and that unleavened bread is to be eaten through the 20th
day, which is the seventh day of unleavened bread. Thus,
the seven days of unleavened bread are the 14th
– the 20th
. Unleavened bread is to be eaten until the evening of the
21st day, which excludes that day as being a day of unleavened bread.

The Mowed Is The Day Of Convocation
Scripture identifies Passover as being the day of holy convocation because it is the mowed that is to be proclaimed
as the day of holy convocation (Lev 23:2,4), and the 14th
day is a mowed (Num. 9:2-3). Therefore, Passover day is
the day of holy convocation.
“…Concerning the feasts/mowed/appointed season/#4150 of Yahweh,
which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations…” (Lev. 23:2)
“These are the feasts/mowed/appointed season/#4150 of Yahweh,
even holy convocations…” (Lev. 23:4)
“Thou shalt therefore keep this ordinance in his season/mowed/feasts/#4150.” (Ex. 13:10)
“…keep the Passover at his appointed season/mowed/feasts/#4150.” (Num. 9:2)
“In the fourteenth day…ye shall keep it in his appointed season/mowed/feasts/#4150.” (Num. 9:3)
“And on the fifteenth day…is the feast/chag/2282” (IT’S NOT A MOWED/#4150!!!!) (Lev. 23:6)
“And in the fifteenth day…is the feast/chag/2282” (IT’S NOT A MOWED/#4150!!!!) (Num. 28:17)
What these Scriptures reveal is that it is “the mowed… which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocation,” (Lev. 23:2)
that we are to keep “the Passover at his mowed,” (Num. 9:2) that “in the fourteenth day… ye shall keep it in his
mowed.” (Num. 9:3)
How many times must the Scriptures be in repetition before people will BELIEVE THEM? What many overlook is
that although the 15th
is listed as being “the chag/feast” (Lev. 23:6, Num. 28:17) it is not listed as being “the
mowed/feast.” This is overlooked because in Leviticus 23:2-6 where the English word feast is used for the day
which we are to proclaim to be holy convocations the same English word feast is used for a day that is not to be
proclaimed as being a day of holy convocation. Proclaiming that the 15th
is a day of holy convocation would be no
different than proclaiming that the 16th
, 17th
, 18th
, or 19th
as being a day of holy convocation when no work is to be
done. Although the 2nd
– 6th
days of unleavened bread are also chag/feast days, which includes the 15th
, 16th
, 17th
,
18th
, and 19th
days, but they are not mowed/feast days, thus, they are not days of holy convocation.
The 15th
has mistakenly been proclaimed as being the first day of unleavened bread, but the fact of the matter is that
the first day when we are to begin eating unleavened bread for seven days is the 14th
(Ex. 12:18). The 15th
has
mistakenly been proclaimed as being the day of holy convocation because it is called “the feast/chag/2282” (Lev.
23:6; Num. 28:17), but the fact of the matter is that it is “the mowed/4150…which ye shall proclaim to be holy
convocations” (Lev. 23:2,4). Although the 15th
day is a feast/chag/2282 but it is not a feast/mowed/4150.
It is the mowed/feast, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations. (Lev. 23:2,4)
The Passover is to be kept in the fourteenth day, at the mowed/appointed season. (Num. 9:2-3)
On the fourteenth day of the month at even, ye shall eat unleavened bread. (Ex. 12:18)
Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread…in the first day there shall be an holy convocation. (Ex. 12:15,16)
Because it is on the 14th
day when we are to begin eating unleavened bread and because there is to be a holy
convocation on the first day when we begin eating unleavened bread it is evident that the 14th
is the day of holy
convocation, not the 15th
. Furthermore, because both: the Passover and the 14th
are to be kept at the mowed,
Passover day which is on the 14th
is the day of holy convocation. The 15th
is neither, the first day when we begin
eating unleavened bread nor is it a mowed. Thus, the 15th
is not a day of holy convocation.
The 15th
is only a chag, not a mowed. (Lev. 23:6; Num. 28:17) Therefore the 15th
is NOT a Holy Day!
42
The 1st Day Of Unleavened Bread Is When The Passover Is Sacrificed
The first day of unleavened bread is on the 14th
(Ex. 12:18; Mt. 27:17; Mk. 14:12)… It is on “the first day,” that the
Passover is sacrificed (Dt. 16:4; Mt. 26:17; Mk. 14:12; Lk. 22:7) and this same day, “the first day,” is when the
Passover is eaten (Dt. 16:7; Num. 9:11; Mt. 26:21,26; Mk. 14:18,22; Lk. 22:15-20).
“…neither shall there anything of the flesh, which thou sacrificedst
the first day at even, remain all night until the morning.” (Dt. 16:4)
This is speaking of the Passover sacrifice (see vv. 1,2,5,6,).
“Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread…the disciples did
as Yahushua had appointed them; and they made ready the Passover.” (Mt. 26:17,19)
“And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the Passover
his disciples said unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare…” (Mk. 14:12)
“Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the Passover must be killed.” (Lk. 22:7)
The Scriptures are clear concerning the instructions given from Yahweh on when to sacrifice the Passover.
Deuteronomy 16:4, Matthew 26:17 and Mark 14:12 all reveal that it is a day of unleavened bread when the Passover
must be sacrificed. The Passover is to be sacrificed on the first day of unleavened bread (Deut. 16:4), and the
example set forth by our savior reveals the same. It was on the first day of unleavened bread when his disciples
killed the Passover. (Mt. 26:17; Mk. 14:12; Lk. 22:7-8)
The 1st Day Of Unleavened Bread Is When The Passover Is Roasted
With the verses of Scripture already presented it is evident that the Passover is killed on the first day of unleavened
bread (Deut. 16:4; Mk. 14:12; Lk. 22:7), but it is also to be prepared on the first day of unleavened bread. This is
the example set forth by our savior as was set forth in the law. When the first day of unleavened bread came (Deut.
16:4; Mt. 26:17; Mk. 14:12; Lk. 22:7), this is when the Passover was killed (Deut. 16:4; Mk. 14:12; Lk. 22:7), and
this is when the Passover was prepared. (Mt. 26:17,19; Mk. 14:12,13,16; Lk. 22:8,13)
“Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread the disciples came to Yahushua,
saying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover?…
And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the passover.” (Mt. 26:17,19)
“And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, his disciples said
unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare that thou mayest eat the passover?…
And he sendeth forth two of his disciples… and they made ready the passover.” (Mk. 14:12,13,16)
“Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed. And he sent
Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat. And they went,
and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover. (Lk. 22:7,8;13)
43
The 1st Day Of Unleavened Bread Is When The Passover Is Eaten
Yahushua did keep the 14th
as the first day of unleavened bread. (Mt. 26:17; Mk. 14:12; Lk. 22:7) Note that within
the upcoming Scriptures that will be listed that it is a day of unleavened bread, yet Yahushua was still alive to
observe the beginning of this first day of unleavened bread with his disciples. In the beginning of the 14th
day of the
first month is when the Passover is sacrificed, (Ex. 12:6) prepared to be eaten, (Ex. 12:16) and eaten (Ex. 12:8). All
of this was done before midnight (Ex. 12:29) on the first day of unleavened bread (Deut. 16:4) as instructed in the
law so that nothing of it remain until the morning. (Ex. 12:10; Deut. 16:4)
“Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread the disciples came to Yahushua…
And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith,
My time is at hand; I will keep the passover…and they made ready the passover…
Now…as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me. (Mt. 26:17-21)
“And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover… he sendeth
forth two of his disciples, and saith unto them… say ye to the goodman of the house,
The Master saith, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover… and
they made ready the passover…And as they sat and did eat, Yahushua said, Verily I
say unto you, One of you which eateth with me shall betray me…And as they did eat,
Yahushua took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them…” (Mk. 14:12-14,16,18,22)
“Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed. And he sent
Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat…And ye shall
say unto the goodman of the house, The Master saith unto thee, Where is the guest-
chamber, where I shall eat the passover…and they made ready the passover…And he
said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:
For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom…” (Lk. 22:7-8,11,13,15-16)
With the verses of Scripture already presented it is evident that the Passover is killed on the first day of unleavened
bread (Dt. 16:4; Mk. 14:12; Lk. 22:7); that it is prepared on the first day of unleavened bread (Mt. 26:17; Mk. 14:12;
Lk. 22:8) and that it is also to be eaten on the same day that it is killed and prepared on, the fourteenth day (Num.
9:10-11; Mt. 26:21,26; Mk. 14:18,22; Lk. 22:15). The only difference between the Passover of the first month and
the Passover of the second month is that they are done in different months. However, the day to kill it, prepare it
and eat it on remains the same.
“The first day of unleavened bread” is the day of the Passover sacrifice (Dt. 16:4; Mt. 26:17,19; Mk. 14:12,16; Lk.
22:7,13) when it is prepared (Mt. 26:17,19; Mk. 14:12,13,16; Lk. 22:8,13) and when it is eaten (Dt. 16:7; Num.
9:11; Mt. 26:21,26; Mk. 14:18,22; Lk. 22:15-20), yet the Jewish customs articulate that the Passover is to be eaten
on the day following the day of the sacrifice. The sacrificing of the lamb and the eating of the lamb all was to take
place on the same day, the first day of unleavened bread, which is on the 14th
. This was the example set forth by our
savior, as this is how his father had it written in his law. Note that 2 Chronicles 35:16 further demonstrates that the
Passover service is a one-day event, “So all the service of Yahweh was prepared the same day, to keep the
passover…”
Scripture reveals that the Passover is to be sacrificed on the first day of unleavened bread (Dt. 16:4; Mk. 14:12; Lk.
22:7), that it is prepared on the first day of unleavened bread (Mt. 26:17; Mk. 14:12; Lk. 22:8) and also that the
Passover is to be eaten on the same day that it is killed and prepared (Num. 9:10-11; 2Chr. 35:16). This is the
example set forth by our savior. When the first day of unleavened bread came (Mt. 26:17; Mk. 14:12; Lk. 22:7), this
is when the Passover was killed (Lk. 22:7), this is when the Passover was prepared (Mt. 26:19; Mk. 14:16; Lk.
22:13) and this is when the Passover was eaten (Mt. 26:21,26; Mk. 14:18,22; Lk. 22:15); all of which was on the
14th
day making it the first day of unleavened bread.
