Plan of Action Achievements
To Activate Alumini Association
Alumini Association was activated. Alumini of repute, over last 60-75 years were invited. Alumini from industries have promised to arrange campus interviews for students. Alumini of collectors, reputed IPS officers have delivered lectures to the students.
To Conduct State Level Seminar on Recent Trends in Tamil Short Stories.
A Two day seminar was organized on “Recent Trends in Tamil Short Stories” on 21st and 23rd march 2012. Tamil writer Pon. Neelan, Sakthiya Academy Prize winner inaugurated the seminar.
To Start “Women Study Centre” in the college.
Women Study Centre was started on 7th March 2012. The key note address was delivered by Ms. P. Sivakami, I.A.S. Va. Geetha, writer, Ms. Prema Revathi, Poet, Ms. Salma, Ms. Tamilachi Tanga Pandian, Ms. Sugirtha Rani, all Tamil Poets participated in the inauguration. A Play was staged by “Chennai Marpachi Theatre Group” in the evening.

To activate various clubs in the college to motivate and mould the personality of students
Science Forum, Visual Arts Centre, Readers Forum, Planning Forum, Social Science Forum, Poetry Reading Club, Quiz Club, Einstein Club, Health & Fitness Club, Guidance & Counselling Centre, Madura College Cultural Academy, Yoga Centre and Eco Club were started.
To Promote non-violent ideals among youth “Gandhian Study Centre” was proposed
Gandhian Study Centre was inaugurated. Every year Seminar and ‘Patti mandram” was conducted collaborating with Gandhi Museum, Madurai. Students were sent to participate in the activities conducted on Gandhian Values
To organize field trip for students in various departments
II Year M.A. students and the staff went on field trip to Kodumbalur,Kudimiyan temple, chitthannavasal, Thirumayam, Kunrakudi, Pillaiyar patty in connection with temple arts. AHEM Club organized a Field Visit to an N.G.O “SPEECH” situated near Sivakasi on 23-01- 12.This NGO focuses on the abolition of child labour and works for women empowerment in the Sivakasi region. It was rich experience for the students and gained practical knowledge about NGO.
Mr. S. Chella Pandian and Dr. P. Krishnan have conducted the study trip to Kodaikanal with III B.Sc. Botany students. Mr. S. Chella Pandian has taken II M.Sc. students to Pasteur Institute, Coonore. All the staff members along with I B.Sc. and I M.Sc. students went for Algal collection trip to Rameshwaram on September 12th 2011. Dr. K.M. Rajasekaran, Dr. P. Kannan and Dr. S. Karuppusamy have conducted the taxonomy study trip to Kodai hill ranges with I M.Sc. students on 22nd to 24th March 2012. AHEM Club organized a Field Visit to Madura Coats, Madurai on 14-02-12. This Visit enlightened the knowledge of students regarding Industrial Sociology.

To organize State level Seminar on Socially important topics
Two-day state level seminar on “Capital Punishment : Issues and Challenges” was organized on 2nd & 3rd, February, 2012 with a key note address by Mr. Henri Tiphagne,Executive Director, People’s watch, Madurai. Many academicians, advocates, social activists, media persons spoke on various issues related to the seminar’s theme.
To organize special programmes for commerce graduates to meet out challenges in getting employment .
Organised a special awareness programme on “On Line Computer Learning” Conducted a programme on “Interview Facing Skills” to the final year students. Conducted a programme on “Enhancing Resume Writing Skills” to the final year students.
To conduct International documentary and short film festival in the college.
13th Madurai International Documentary and Short Film Festival was conducted from 7th to 10th December 2012. Short films and documentary from Switzerland, Japan, Germany, England, France and Italyy were screened. A painting exhibition was also held by Madurai painters during the occasion. This was inaugurated by Mr. Annamalai, the chief correspondent of “The Hindu”.
To organize felicitation meeting through “READERS’ FORUM” with novelists to inculcate the habit of reading among students.
Readers forum has reviewed seven books on different occassions. It conducted a review cum felicitation meeting to felicitate Mr.SU.Venkatesan, the Sakhitya Akedemy winner of this year in tamil., This was the first felicitation function for the writer after winning the award. Mr. Madukkur Ramalingam and Dr. P. Anandakumar reviewed the book Kaaval Kottam, principal and secretary offered their felicitations to the writer and his work.

The College has a Governing body Which efficiently maximize employee
performance in service for management’s strategic objectives Besides the’ college

To Activate Alumini Association
Alumini Association was activated. Alumini of repute, over last 60-75 years were invited. Alumini from industries have promised to arrange campus interviews for students. Alumini of collectors, reputed IPS officers have delivered lectures to the students.
To Conduct State Level Seminar on Recent Trends in Tamil Short Stories.
A Two day seminar was organized on “Recent Trends in Tamil Short Stories” on 21st and 23rd march 2012. Tamil writer Pon. Neelan, Sakthiya Academy Prize winner inaugurated the seminar.
Yoga Research Centre was started. Yoga Research Centre organised a
Yogathan of performing 108 Surya Namskar to mark the World Helath Day on
7th April 2012. 150 people including children took part in this grand event. This
was organised in association with Art of Living Foundation, Madurai.
Health and Fitness Club was started. Five health awareness programmes in
collobaration with various agencies were conducted. Hundreds of students
were benefited.
Science Forum started this year organized various competitions on 23rd
February 2012 for the students of our college to inculcate scientific awareness
among students. The inaugural function of Science Forum Madura College was
held on 13th March 2012.

To Start “Women Study Centre” in the college.
Women Study Centre was started on 7th March 2012. The key note address was delivered by Ms. P. Sivakami, I.A.S. Va. Geetha, writer, Ms. Prema Revathi, Poet, Ms. Salma, Ms. Tamilachi Tanga Pandian, Ms. Sugirtha Rani, all Tamil Poets participated in the inauguration. A Play was staged by “Chennai Marpachi Theatre Group” in the evening.
To activate various clubs in the college to motivate and mould the personality of students
Science Forum, Visual Arts Centre, Readers Forum, Planning Forum, Social Science Forum, Poetry Reading Club, Quiz Club, Einstein Club, Health & Fitness Club, Guidance & Counselling Centre, Madura College Cultural Academy, Yoga Centre and Eco Club were started.
To Promote non-violent ideals among youth “Gandhian Study Centre” was proposed
Gandhian Study Centre was inaugurated. Every year Seminar and ‘Patti mandram” was conducted collaborating with Gandhi Museum, Madurai. Students were sent to participate in the activities conducted on Gandhian Values
To organize field trip for students in various departments
II Year M.A. students and the staff went on field trip to Kodumbalur,Kudimiyan temple, chitthannavasal, Thirumayam, Kunrakudi, Pillaiyar patty in connection with temple arts. AHEM Club organized a Field Visit to an N.G.O “SPEECH” situated near Sivakasi on 23-01- 12.This NGO focuses on the abolition of child labour and works for women empowerment in the Sivakasi region. It was rich experience for the students and gained practical knowledge about NGO.
Mr. S. Chella Pandian and Dr. P. Krishnan have conducted the study trip to Kodaikanal with III B.Sc. Botany students. Mr. S. Chella Pandian has taken II M.Sc. students to Pasteur Institute, Coonore. All the staff members along with I B.Sc. and I M.Sc. students went for Algal collection trip to Rameshwaram on September 12th 2011. Dr. K.M. Rajasekaran, Dr. P. Kannan and Dr. S. Karuppusamy have conducted the taxonomy study trip to Kodai hill ranges with I M.Sc. students on 22nd to 24th March 2012. AHEM Club organized a Field Visit to Madura Coats, Madurai on 14-02-12. This enlightened the knowledge of students regarding Industrial Sociology.

Two-day state level seminar on “Capital Punishment : Issues and Challenges” was organized on 2nd & 3rd, February, 2012 with a key note address by Mr. Henri Tiphagne,Executive Director, People’s watch, Madurai. Many academicians, advocates, social activists, media persons spoke on various issues related to the seminar’s theme.
To organize special programmes for commerce graduates to meet out challenges in getting employment .
Organised a special awareness programme on “On Line Computer Learning” Conducted a programme on “Interview Facing Skills” to the final year students. Conducted a programme on “Enhancing Resume Writing Skills” to the final year students.
To conduct International documentary and short film festival in the college.
13th Madurai International Documentary and Short Film Festival was conducted from 7th to 10th December 2012. Short films and documentary from Switzerland, Japan, Germany, England, France and Italyy were screened. A painting exhibition was also held by Madurai painters during the occasion. This was inaugurated by Mr. Annamalai, the chief correspondent of “The Hindu”.
To organize felicitation meeting through “READERS’ FORUM” with novelists to inculcate the habit of reading among students.
Readers forum has reviewed seven books on different occassions. It conducted a review cum felicitation meeting to felicitate Mr.SU.Venkatesan, the Sakhitya Akedemy winner of this year in tamil., This was the first felicitation function for the writer after winning the award. Mr. Madukkur Ramalingam and Dr. P. Anandakumar reviewed the book Kaaval Kottam, principal and secretary offered their felicitations to the writer and his work.

Format for Presentation of Best Practice
1. Title of the Practice
1) Initiate Science Forum, Reader’s Forum, Planning Forum
2) Women Study Centre
2. Goal
Form, forums on the above mentioned, involving faculties and students as members.
These forums help students aware of social, cultural, scientific responsibilities of them in
the society. For example women study centre organize meetings to remove gender
disparity. Science forum inculcate the scientific thinking among students. Cultural
festival celebrations like “Pongal Vizha” help students realize the heritage of our culture.
Other social forums like “Red Ribbon Club”, “Blood Donors Club” encourage students
actively participate in the social activities like blood donation, medical assistance etc.,

Planning Forum:
Every year the Planning Forum of The Madura College is organizing the Planning
Forum Activities for motivating the students to participate in various competitions. This
year the planning Forum has taken initiatives for the panel discussion and debate once in
a week .The students of our college has given the opportunity to participate in the
discussion on the current economic and social problems .In this respect students were
asked to express their views on Impact of corruption on Indian Economy on 7th march,
Impact of Foreign Direct Investment in retail sector on 3rd February and Budget 2012 is
also taken for discussion on 26th March. These panel discussion/debate were inaugurated
by Dr.S.Theenthayalan, Head, Department of Economics with the introduction of the
theme of the topic and its relevance .The planning forum valedictory function was on 28-
3- 2012 . The valedictory address was given by Dr.R.Murali, Principal Madura College
(Autonomous) Madurai. In his valedictory address he insisted the students to take part

in such kind of panel discussion with active involvement and distributes the prizes. We
have invited Mr.N.Siva Murugan,B.A.B.L,Treasurer Madurai Bar Council Madurai
as Chief Guest for the Planning Forum he addressed our students on “Future
Planning” on 28th March 2012. The competitions like Elocution, Quiz and Essay
writing were conducted under planning forum.
Reader’s Forum
Readers forum has reviewed seven books on different occassions. It conducted a review
cum felicitation meeting to felicitate Mr.SU.Venkatesan, the Sakhitya Akedemy wiiner of
this year in tamil., a meeting felicitating sahitya academy award winner Su. Venkatesan
was held by the reader’s forum, on 02/01/12 at 10.30 am at Seminar Hall, Madura
College. This was the first felicitation function for the writer after winning the award.
While Mr. Madukkur Ramalingam and Dr. P. Anandakumar reviewed the book kaaval
Kottam, principal and secretary offered their felicitations to the writer and his work. Mrs.
C. Hema , convener, Readers’ Forum welcomed the gathering, Mr. Rafeek Raja,
coordinator, proposed the vote of thanks.
Two day state level seminar was conducted by readers’ forum on Recent Tamil Short
Stoies. Renowned novelist Ponneelan has inaugurated the seminar.

A two day State Level Seminar was jointly organized by our Readers’ Forum and Kalai
Ilakkiya Perumandram, Madurai and New Century Book House, Chennai, on Recent
Trends in Short Stories from 21/03/12--------22/03/12.
6. Problems Encountered and Resources Required
To organize such meetings hall facilities are not adequate. Due to the tight academic
schedule, students hardly find leisure time to participate themselves in these
programmes. Time schedule for fixing the programmes. Adequate funding is not
available. It is very difficult to develop interest among students who come from illiterate
families and extreme rural backgrounds. Due to socio, political constraints all topics
could not be taken for discussions especially in the readers forum.
