It takes over 1000 years for an ink cartridge to decompose in a landfill. • More than 2 pints of oil is needed to create a new toner cartridge. • More than 1.1 billion inkjet cartridges are used annually around the world. Laid end-to-end this would be 129 times as long as the Great Wall of China. 70% of used ink cartridges throughout the world go unrecycled, they are thrown away! Not sure what to do with your used printer cartridges? Take them to the Mailroom! Why? Because they recycle them, all types and sizes. The Mailroom also recycles good quality printer paper boxes with lids. When someone on campus needs a nice box for moving, mailing, or storing items, the Mailroom will have a recycled box to meet your needs. The Mailroom Hours is inside the Medical and Technology Building in Room 190, and is open 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Telephone 549-3132. Recycling reduces greenhouse gases and pollutants. The paper industry is one of the largest water polluters in the world. At the current rate of destruction – 95 acres per minute – we will completely eradicate all rainforests by the year 2050. P URSUE C AMPUS C LEANLINESS Do your part and be responsible.
