Community School in Wembley. The workshops were heldat the amazing Tricycle Theatre in Kilburn. Their poetry was

Every Monday or three months, 60 young people who had

only recently arrived in the country (and spoke hardly anyEnglish), came to PEN writing workshops at Londons TricycleTheatre. The sessions were led by the poet Warsan Shireand me. We both agree that the sessions challenged our

abilities to convey the power o language and the beauty owords to the young people, given their hesitancy with English.

In the end, we both agreed, we learned just as much romthem as they did rom us.

The poetry rom all the young people was enlightening, real,earless and beautiul. I am honoured to have witnessed how

ar they have grown and how much their speaking, reading andwriting o English grew in condence in three short months.
