Introduction18 And Jesus came up and spoke to

them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all

that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Introduction•What is a disciple?

•one who engages in learning through instruction from another, pupil, apprentice

•a personal follower of Christ - Is that all?

•A biblical viewpoint of discipleship -

•Matthew 10:25; Luke 6:40

•Purpose of our study

The Call of Discipleship •The disciples of Christ -

Mark 3:13-14 - “13 And He went up on the mountain and summoned

those whom He Himself wanted, and they came to Him. 14 And He appointed twelve, so that they

would be with Him and that He could send them out to preach,”

•They were chosen and called by Jesus - Mark 1:17; 2:14

The Call of Discipleship •Our calling to become disciples -

John 6:44 - “44 “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last

day.”

2 Thessalonians 2:14 - “14 It was for this He called you through our gospel, that you may gain the glory of our Lord Jesus

Christ.”

Conclusion•What is result of one giving everything to follow Jesus?

Luke 18:29-30 - “29 And He said to them, “Truly I say to you, there is no

one who has left house or wife or brothers or parents or children, for

the sake of the kingdom of God, 30 who will not receive many times as much at this time and in the age to come, eternal life.” (cf. Matthew

19:29)
