FROM LAKAN…
The Bottom Line. When Kim and I were in busi-ness, it was easy to evaluate how we were doing. The bottom line for us then was whether we were making money or not. The business was our liveli-hood, and so it would have been an easy decision to quit the business if it was not providing for our needs. The Christian culture today is fraught with so many peripheral issues that many times we miss the bot-tom line. We get preoccupied with things that may seem important at the moment, but do not have eternal value. I have been in church business meetings where people lost their Christian witness over the silliest of things.

Our Preteen Students are having a fundraising Garage Sale to help them raise funds for their Summer Retreat! If you have items you would like to donate for the sale, please bring them by the church. If you need help getting them here, please contact Philip Cross at the church office.
The issues that trip up many are the ones that are dressed in spiritual garb. We deal with a person ad-dicted to drugs, so we just want him to quit the habit. We want a promiscuous teenager
to just simply quit his or her promiscuity and be nice. We want our friend diagnosed with cancer simply to be healed. Several years back, I was visiting one of
our senior adult ladies at the hospital. She had struggled with
cancer and she was not doing well. This was a lady who came to church faithfully, tithed regularly, helped in different ministries, did not cuss or hang out with the wrong crowd. So I was totally blind-sided by her question:
“Lakan, how can I be saved? How can I know for sure that I am going to heaven,” she asked with tears in her eyes. This very moral, reli-gious, church-going lady was headed to an eternity of separa-tion from God in a

place of indescribable torment! I shared the gospel with her, after which, she hungrily and joyfully received the Lord Jesus as her savior and God. The bottom line of God's work in our lives is not physical healing, nor moral liv-
ing, nor religion. The reason Jesus suffered and died on the cross was for the redemp-tion of sinful man. “For the Son of Man came to seek and save what was lost.” (Luke 19:10) This is the bottom line of everything we do.

On the last Sunday of each month we receive the Lord’s sup-per. On that Sunday we will also ask for donations to our Agape Ministries. These ministries give us the opportunity to help those in need.
With your help, we can provide food boxes as well as supply-ing needed clothing, and help in other areas.
Please bring canned and/or nonperishable items with you as you come to worship with us Sunday, March 25th. There will be a box in the foyer where you may place your items.
You may also give a special offering to these ministries by placing it in the offering plate marked Agape.
Of course you are welcome to bring canned goods/non-perishables by the church office anytime!
“If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” 1 John 3:17-18
